This is someone dying while having an MRI scan is a copypasta text derived from a melodramatic reaction to a gif posted on the blogging site Tumblr. The text is pasted to accompany gifs and images of other things which the description clearly fails to describe.
The original gif originates from the tv series The Walking Dead. During the sixth episode of the first season, TS-19, they show a brain scan of a person dying through being infected with a virus that causes humans to turn into zombies. The clip can be seen at 2:23 in the video below.
The original post on Tumblr was by the now deactivated Tumblr user Opwronghole. Sometime later, the now infamous text claiming the scene to be of a death in a MRI scan was added (still researching when this was added). This post has amassed over 290,000 notes as of the 29th February 2012.
This is someone dying while having an MRI scan. Before you die, your brain releases tons and tons of endorphins that make you feel a range of emotions. Tragically beautiful.
After the image and it’s description had begun circulating around Tumblr, a number of parodies of the post using different images and gifs began to appear, which themselves would be used in later parodies. Some of the more popular variations include a screenshot of comedian Andy Samberg from the Jizz in my Pants video, a bubbling pizza and the Tubby Custard Machine from Teletubbies, which originated from another copypasta referring to mechanically separated chicken.
