“White whale holy grail” is a lyric from the song Blood and Thunder by the American heavy metal band Mastodon, from the album Levithan. The lyric has appeared on at least one comic which has been reposted on 4chan some number of times [needs more solid data] and has been turned into one YTMND. This shows signs of a relatively weak meme.

The Comic

The comic shows a guy meeting up with his good friend from school, they talk and she throws out that she is “obviously” attracted to him. He asks her out, and she says her boyfriend wouldn’t like that. He of course lolwuts. He sees the other man as the White Whale, or the same sea creature from the album, in his delusion, he thinks he is killing the beast. The frame snaps out to show he is stabbing the boyfriend, who is completely normal, with, the favorite killer, a number 2 pencil.

The (singular) YTMND

On March 25th, 2008, YTMND user ginustrout created WHITE WHALE HOLY GRAIL, a flash version of the web comic. As of June, 2010, the YTMND has been viewed over 32,000 times and has a rating of 4.38 stars out of 5.

This YTMND has failed to replicate (inspire the creation of derivatives) in over 2 years.
