Kick streamer Adin Ross appeared to be scammed by rapper Playboi Carti last night after he allegedly gave the OPIUM member roughly $2 million for six minutes of airtime. Many people are upset.

The elusive Playboi Carti can be a hard person to track down. Before the meet-up, many thought that Ross would bring on a Carti lookalike similar to his infamous Kim Jong-un stream. But no, it seems to have been the actual Carti. People are split on who's to blame for the streaming fiasco.

So, what happened with Adin Ross' Playboi Carti stream? Who is Adin Ross and why did Playboi Carti scam him? Let's explain.

Who Is Adin Ross?

Adin Ross is a streamer who livestreams on the platform Kick. Ross used to stream on Twitch and he got his start playing the basketball game NBA 2K.

He grew a larger following in 2020 and 2021 when he started streaming so-called "e-dates" in which he and his friends would compete for a woman in front of an audience. This led him to collaborate with other young streamers like Kai Cenat, Fanum and Duke Dennis who all had meteoric rises in 2022.

Did Playboi Carti Scam Adin Ross?

The word "scam" is being thrown around this situation quite loosely, but it is based on some merit. According to Ross, he made a deal with Playboi Carti and his manager that involved a $2 million cash payout and a Ferrari. However, Carti apparently did not come through on his side of the deal because he only appeared on Ross' stream late last night, only talking for six minutes and not answering any questions.

After Carti left, Ross seemed frustrated and apologized to Kick's CEO, Eddie Craven, who was watching in the chat. Ross said he was not going to pay Playboi Carti the other half of the $2 million although he already handed over the first half in a duffle bag to start off the stream. Ross also allegedly canceled Carti's private jet that he organized to take Carti home.

Also, the scam came days after Ross had almost been apparently scammed by fellow Atlanta rapper 21 Savage, who tried to gamble with Ross using marked cards on stream. Both controversies compounded on social media, being an overall bad look for Ross and both artists.

Who Is Playboi Carti?

Playboi Carti is a rapper from Atlanta who became famous in the late 2010s due to a meteoric rise on SoundCloud. Since then, Carti has grown a massive fanbase online, making him one of the most popular and most streamed musicians in the world.

He's grown a lot over the past two years while ducking out of the public eye. Instead, he lets rappers like Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely, who are signed to his record label OPIUM, do most of the press appearances.

What Are Some Reactions To Playboi Carti Scamming Adin Ross?

Social media has been ablaze today with reactions and memes to Adin Ross' stream. Some voices feel bad for Ross while others think the whole situation is hilarious. Many of the memes imagined Playboi Carti leaving the stream feeling like 2 million bucks.

Adin Ross also gained reactions from his fellow streamers like Kai Cenat and FlightReacts who were surprised by Ross' payout and Carti's behavior. Also, soon after Carti left, Ross called 21 Savage who was equally surprised that Ross gave him millions of dollars for six minutes in comparison to how much he paid him for his appearance.
