Lemon Party explained

What Is 'Lemon Party' And Why Should You Not Google It?

One thing we've learned about the internet is that when you tell someone to not Google something, chances are they're going to Google it. Every now and again, Lemon Party becomes one of those things. The shock site just continues to trend and find more victims.

If you're not familiar with Lemon Party, good for you. Chances are though, if you're here, you're trying to find the NSFW image that the ancient website hosts.

Luckily, we're here to explain to you what this gross website is and why you shouldn't look much further than Know Your Meme. So, I guess, let's explain.

What Is 'Lemon Party?'

Back in the early 2000s, the internet was a new place. A lot of teenagers were just logging on and their digital literacy was minimal. One of these early internet users became the first troll to find the website lemonparty.org and share it with their naive friends via a bait-and-switch prank.

This Lemon Party prank started in the year 2002 and what the website hosted was quite unsightly for someone not expecting it. Essentially, the website's home page showed an explicit image macro of three men (of varying generations) engaging in oral relations. The varying ages of the men and their visible activity shocked the website's visitors.

What Were Some Reactions To 'Lemon Party?'

The interesting and funny thing about Lemon Party was how people tricked others into visiting the website. Many memes at the time snuck the domain name, lemonparty.org, into any image macro on the web. The general knowledge of the website online became so pervasive that celebrities even joined the fun, namely Michael Cera and Jonah Hill back when they were promoting Superbad.

Like many ancient "shock site" memes, such as Tubgirl or Mr. Hands, murmurings of Lemon Party surfaced on TikTok in the 2020s as a newer, younger audience could have their innocence broken. Therefore, the resurgence of Lemon Party discourse is just a recurring symptom of the internet in general, meaning these shock sites are timeless. They will always be scaring people who are new to the internet.
