The question strikes at the dramatic irony of The Truman Show in which the audience knows it's fake but Truman doesn't… Or does he? Throughout the movie, the viewer slowly watches Truman realize what's really going on in his world.

What makes the Minecraft version so funny is that villagers are notoriously stupid non-playable characters who obviously have no idea what's going on, and from this joke, the question can morph into further iterations, like some that attest, "I think he knows…"
