This week on the internet, actor Pedro Pascal inspired a lot of discussions about so-called "anxiety touching," Ozzy Osbourne's passing became the latest example of the Trisha Paytas reincarnation meme, Uma Masume fans went crazy over "Goo Goo Babies" and more.

Pedro Pascal's Anxiety Touching

The Last Of Us star Pedro Pascal has been the talk of social media this week after claims about the way he handles his anxiety during press events resurfaced.

The claims first started spreading back in July 2024, when a video of Pascal holding his Fantastic Four co-star Vanessa Kirby's hand was posted on Instagram. The caption to the video, which is entirely speculative, reads, "Pedro Pascal suffers from anxiety, and when he is anxious, he usually tries to have contact with someone."

While Pascal has talked about his anxiety before, he's never confirmed that this is why he was holding Kirby's hand. That didn't stop the discussion from coming back into the limelight this month, when a new video of Kirby touching Pascal during an interview was posted online.

This new clip not only renewed the discussions about Pascal's "anxiety touching" technique, but also a lot of memes and debates about the concept. Some people seem to think it's inappropriate and that perhaps Pascal uses the excuse to get women to touch him, despite, again, Pascal never mentioning the alleged coping technique before.

But social media would never spread misinformation based on assumptions and read too far into a viral video, right?

Car accidents are never funny, but a near-accident has perhaps never been funnier than the viral "Ok Garmin" meme taking over TikTok and Instagram Reels.

The meme is based on a German viral video uploaded to YouTube in October 2024 by the RLP Dashcam channel.

In the video, a driver is seen stopping their car right before a head-on collision with another driver. As they screech to a halt, the driver yelps and says, "Ok Garmin, video speichern." When he says this, he's telling his Garmin dashcam to save the video of the near-accident, which was a good call, seeing as it's now become a major meme on TikTok and Instagram.

As a meme, the audio is being paired with clips of other near-accidents, recreations of the video itself and other funny videos in general.

It's also being paired with the "Jarvis Commands" meme, which shows Tony Stark, or Iron Man, commanding his AI assistant Jarvis to do whatever he wants it to. In this case, the driver is being represented through Stark.

Ozzy Osbourne Reincarnated as Trisha Paytas' Baby

If you've been online the past few years, you may have seen the memes about celebrities being reincarnated as Trisha Paytas' babies.

Well, this week, what's arguably the biggest iteration of that meme yet dropped on us after the tragic news of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne's death.

The passing of the Black Sabbath frontman and legendary metal icon Ozzy Osbourne took the world by shock this week, but it also inspired a whole lot of memes when, on the same day that his death was announced, influencer Trisha Paytas announced that she had her third baby, a boy named Aquaman.

Normally, the fact that someone named their newborn baby Aquaman would be the most shocking thing about this story, but the most chronically online among us decided that this was too good of an opportunity to revive the reincarnation memes that started with Queen Elizabeth II's death back in 2022.

It's worth mentioning that Trisha's baby was actually born days before Ozzy's death, but as far as the memes are concerned, that doesn't matter.

The idea of Ozzy waking up in the body of baby Aquaman was too funny for social media to resist, resulting in a flood of memes about the so-called Prince of Darkness emerging from the netherworld to live in luxury in Paytas-Hacmon manor, or whatever they probably call their mansion.

Goo Goo Babies

Hype for the anime girl horse racing game Uma Musume has only gotten stronger since its recent English-language release in June, and now, a niche moment from the game about playing "Goo Goo Babies" with Super Creek is going viral.

For those who don't know, Uma Musume Pretty Derby is a gacha game where you collect, train and race anime girl versions of real-life Japanese race horses. It's about as absurd as it sounds, but it's also absurdly popular, especially after its long-awaited English-language translation was released, skyrocketing it to one of the most-streamed games on Twitch.

As this type of game often does, the fandom has been posting tons of fan art, memes and other content about Uma Musume over the past few weeks, with the most recent viral output being the "Goo Goo Babies" memes.

Goo Goo Babies is a reference to a "once in a lifetime" event that can happen in the game if you're racing with Super Creek. Basically, she asks if you want to play goo goo babies, then coddles you and treats you like a baby.

It's the type of moment that the thirstiest of gamers can usually only dream about, but this time it's real. You only need to take a quick look at the content that the event is producing to understand just how important Goo Goo Babies is to Uma Musume fans.

Finally, we've got another meme from the Squid Game fandom that has people taking funny screenshots from the show's fan edits and turning them into reaction images.

The Squid Game fandom might be one of the most prominent fandoms online right now, which means that there's an ocean of edits mashing up scenes from the series across TikTok and Instagram.

Lots of these edits feature subtitles, which can end up being pretty funny when derived from their overall context. That's the premise at the core of this recent meme trend, which has been popping up all over X / Twitter this week.

Considering the sheer amount of edits there are to choose from, it's no wonder the meme has gotten so popular. There are a lot of opportunities to pull out-of-context clips from any given edit you might find on your video feeds, resulting in some truly bizarre and hilarious reaction images.

The memes have also crossed over with a similar reaction meme known as "Cate Blanchet Oh My God Bruh," which can be found in near proximity to most Squid Game edit reactions you find online.
