It's only fitting that a Halloween meme has finally managed to nab the October meme of the month, which is something that they have repeatedly failed to achieve ever since Spooktober. Fake Spirit Halloween Costumes are a great meme for a few reasons: It's a flexible format and pretty much anything can go with it as long as you can do some clever writing, plus it allowed us to make use of some amazing memes of both past and present. The second place with 15 percent of your votes goes to the one and the only Roblox Baller. The growing popularity of Roblox memes serves as a reflection of another shift in the meme meta as late Gen Z are joining the meme forces, while Millennials are struggling to keep up as things they've never experienced enter the spotlight, but hey, at least there are still redraws to do.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer

The first trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie was the rite of passage not only for Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario (results: inconclusive), but also for Nintendo as they had to prove they won't drop the ball on what could become the most culturally impactful movie of 2023. Judging by the number of memes a single trailer has managed to produce (there are four big ones if you count the one about Mario's butt spawned by the poster), people are sufficiently hyped for some Nintendo kino, and 13 percent of your votes together with the third place on our list are yet another testament to that.

If the 1995 anime series You're Under Arrest!, policemen tackle everyday criminals while looking both cute and professional, and the patrol officer Yoriko Nikaido is no exception: after being caught over a wrongdoing, Yoriko tries to excuse her actions by striking a pose and saying, "Ah, well… bleh." That will 28 years later become a massive internet meme, with Yoriko's cute pose and mumbling used to excuse pretty much everything from vehicular manslaughter to war crimes. Fifth place with eight percent of your votes.

Flying Black Adam

Flying from the screen and straight into your face, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as Black Adam managed to become a meme not only because of how dedicated and angry his face looks, but also because of how large his head appears. Great as a reaction and even better as a redraw, Flying Black Adam gets ranked six on our list thanks to eight percent of your votes.

And so we have our top six, but before we're done, the October memes that didn't quite stand up to their competition still deserve an honorary mention. At the bottom of our list we have Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter and the many memes that followed it (7%), Lois Griffin being utterly horrified by what Peter did (6%), Kerfuś the Polish cat robot (3%), Netflix' controversial hit series DAHMER (3%), the obligatory horny meme in Horny Satsuki (2%), Lil Yachty's epic quest of taking the wock to Poland (1%), Lizzo's urge to take everything not firmly bolted to the floor (1%), and finally, the video combination trend on Twitter (1%).
