Interesting…I suppose you could start a hater sub-entry, it's an interesting concept. The question is: do we define hatred of the subculture as part of the subculture itself, by extension? I think there's some room for debate there.

On the one hand, that is clearly not true generally. Most people are indifferent to subcultures that they don't identify with. But, I think that, given the divisive nature of the MLP fandom, brony-haters are as virulent and zealous as bronies themselves are fanatical and enthusiastic, to the point that their hate for the show becomes as important to them as the show is for us. In that way, the show is unwittingly incorporated into their identities, and their hate forms a subculture centred around MLP, much as our love has formed a subculture around MLP. The haters will deny this, but it's true.

But, as for creating a subculture entry about the haters, I wouldn't consider that a good idea; all it would do is engender more hate and flaming on the site.

It's as if hate is a living breathing thing. All our anger and negative feelings are feeding it and making it stronger. Also, windigoes. Don't give them power.

So to get us back on topic (because my original post was there wasn't that many uploads from new episodes) are we starting to slow down? Are we slipping? Are we not happy with the new shows? What's the deal people?
I even noticed a lack of discussion about the new episodes.

Some people do. Not sure if it's due to nostalgia or Faust leaving but there are some people who do not like the second season. That makes me sad.

I would guess that it's complacency. People have come to expect a certain level of quality from the episodes, and they're meeting it every time. Not exceeding it, just meeting it. I call it "Poochie syndrome." Now, it may be a bit early in the show's run to say that, but that was just my impression, and when people get complacent they stop getting inspired to make new art.

Either way, I'm still sad and disappointed. Not going to leave the fandom because of it. Just going to cry pony tears and wait for the pony blogs to update.

Just give it time. If they are good questions, they'll get answered. Patience, learn it, bitch.

@Ric

I have subpar drawing and don't have a decent way to upload any art. I'll think of some good questions. Hopefully.

It's simple, the amount of anonymous users that asks questions is just a lot bigger. Therefore these questions contain a lot variety. So it's easier to find a question amongst them all that belongs to an anonymous member.

Every question has an equal right to be chosen. When picking a random question, it's just an 80% chance this is from an anonymous user.

Plus people with accounts (and especially pony ones) tend to place some roleplay or something related to their own OC/blog in the question. If you own a popular blog, this shouldn't be an issue. But smaller blogs can make it look like advertisement. Some blogs also don't extra characters added or roleplay. So just ask a regular question related to the show or the pony from the blog.

Very late reply, but the movie is full metal jacket. Better known as that one movie with that Gunery sergeant that yells for the whole movie( even though a significant part is set in vietnam during the battle of Hue, It seems like nobody ever remebers that part). Its not a comedy, but plenty of the lines are pretty funny.

"Were you born a fat, slimy, scumbag puke piece o' shit, Private Pyle, or did you have to work on it?"

I don’t get this at all. A couple of hours ago I was on the verge of drawing something, and then I woke up the following hour. I didn’t remember taking a nap, so I tried to finish my drawing. I woke up again 30 minutes later. This is not the first time it’s happened, but twice!? Anyways, this was the resulting pic.

That line "Steers and Queers" was used In "An Officer And A Gentlemen" first by Louis Gossett Jr.
R. Lee Ermey is the actor in "Full Metal Jacket" and was a drill instructor for the USMC

@Dac. THIS IS MY RIFLE! THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT, BUT THIS ONE IS MINE! MY RIFLE IS MY BEST FRIEND! WITHOUT ME, MY RIFLE IS USELESS. WITHOUT MY MY RIFLE, I AM USELESS.
WITH MY RIFLE, MY AIM WILL BE TRUE, AGAINST
MY ENEMY, WHO IS TRYING TO KILL ME.
Gramps was a WW2 Marine, and he said that movie was the closest thing to his bootcamp Hollywood was ever going to get. I love Stanley Kubrik and his works. A Clockwork Orange, FMJ, and 2001: A Space Odyssey are my favs. The Shining wasn't bad either.

Thanks, I didn't know that it was first used in "An officer and a Gentleman".
I've seen enough Mail Call though, so I knew the actor.
FUN FACT: I'm sure you know, but many people don't know( at least my generation) "Gomer pyle" was give that nickname because of the show Gomer Pyle USMC. Personally though, I liked him better as the Mechanic of Mayberry in the Andy Griffith Show.

Well three things today.

1: Hasbro made a Cupcakes reference?

I'm not sure what to make of that. When I first saw the video I thought Hasbro was going to make a non-violent version of the story where Pinkie makes real bakery cupcakes…NOPE! CHUCK TESTA! It's the real thing

I would have thought Hasbro would want to sweep those ugly aspects of the fandom under the rug, after all it is nothing but terrible, terrible PR. But here they are supporting it and having a great deal of fun with it? What does it mean? …WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?

Other than the fact that the infamy of Cupcakes is spreading violently of course.

2. Teens react to MLP

I loved this. Look at all that shock and horror, it was a sight to behold. LOL at the little black kid who was obviously insecure about the whole thing.

To the guy that told us all to get a girlfriend: Sure, but that's not going to stop me from watching Ponies.

To the girl that said she wouldn't date a Brony because she want's a "Tough guy" Instead: Enjoy your Guido douchebag

To the guy that said we were all trolling: I will love to see how he reacts when he finds out that Bronies are serious…then again he's going to be trolled when that happens so perhaps he is right. Bronies make excellent trolls no doubt, We've all seen those Pony trolling video's and just how effective they were. Lets also not forget that we were called the cancer of the internet because the first Bronies trolled the hell out of 4chan with all those pony macro's. I'm not saying he's right that we are trolls. But he made a pretty good guess.

To sum up my reaction to the rest of those teen reactions:

3. Rainbow Dash appears in Homestuck

I love this image:

I knew the Pyle joke from my friend. He's a weapons and war film junkie. Guy has a butterfly knife and a stiletto knife. He's where I got the website from where I got my GP-5. Well, bedtime. Exams start tomorrow. Wish me luck and goodnight, everypony!

If Hasbro actually did make that Cupcakes thing… well, nothing. Because there's absolutely no way someone at Hasbro made it.
And besides this, Hasbro makes toys. They don't animate.

They do animate. They have their Toy division and an animation division. They can make a crazy Pinkamena toy. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Hasbro studios animates though. But the video states that he works with Hasbro as an animator, not that Hasbro studios animated it.

Then Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson also worked on it.
Which I kinda doubt.

He stated in his FAQ that that was just a joke.

{So, I've finally decided to make a full animated mlp music video. (Took about a week to make)
Here are som FAQs:
Yes, this was totally necessary.
No, I haven't read Cupcakes
Yes, I'm an animator at Hasbro
No, I won't make you a video flash intro
Yes, I'm know they shouldn't be able to grab things without any sort of opposable thumbs, etc
No, I don't know Lauren Faust, Steven Spielberg, etc (yet)}

He could be working for another Hub show, that would explain him not knowing Lauran Faust.

I gotta agree with Citation on this. It also said Ms. Faust wrote it… If anything in the world is a lie, this is it. I'm also sure that if the person who did animate it used his real name in the credits and really works for Hasbro, he'll be out the door in 10 seconds flat.

Now, if they played this on a loop on the HUB for a full day, then I might give some credence to it being produced by Hasbro.

He never said it was produced by hasbro, he only said he worked for hasbro. Plus, I remember seeing in the Incredibles special edition. The animators made syndrome lick mirage across the face, and disney left it there in the special features. I sure, that to a point, they understand that the people working on the shows and movies are adults.
I don't think the would hunt down the guy who made that on his free time and didn't credit himself or hasbro.

Pyro's mom took away his laptop for not working on a scrapbook for her church's youthgroup. She said that the iinternet friends that Pyro has made are not real. So Pyro is talking from his phone. Either that or Pyro doesn'talk for 2 weeks.

We're not real, Pyro. Do you think there are really tons of near adult and adult males getting behind My Little Freakin' Pony?

And if we are real, we're probably bad apples. We probably ditched class, smoked reefer in the bathroom, and released chickens labeled 1, 2, and 4 in the hallways. We're probably also minorities too. We probably also don't speak English and want to take your jobs

And we're democrats. F*ckin' democrats…they're not patriotic enough. Or something.

So to get us back on topic (because my original post was there wasn’t that many uploads from new episodes) are we starting to slow down? Are we slipping? Are we not happy with the new shows? What’s the deal people?

I even noticed a lack of discussion about the new episodes.

A few things. I'll try to be somewhat brief.

  • We've had a few tiffs here recently. We can say we're over it, but all of the stuff we rant and rage about hasn't changed. Doesn't the "air" still feel a little heavy on the thread?
  • We have more posters here that like different things. I don't know how many times I've seen that The Simpsons gif. I see when we're mid-discussion. I see it mid-roleplaying. I see it mid-image dump.
  • We're starting to become…friends. I think we used to just be people who were tied together by ponies. Now we're tied by (dare I say it,) ourselves. But we're very different people. It can work out, but friendships are supported by similarities more than differences.
  • There are a lot more people who don't mind confrontation on here. It used to be just CitationNeeded. But dac gets angry, as does Pyro. Heck, even less confrontational posters are starting to call people out on dumb stuff we do. And sometimes we get angry at stuff we shouldn't even bother with.

I think the fandom is changing. Just like we on KYM have become/are becoming friends here, there are probably a lot of other sites where they are becoming friends with each other. We probably all appreciate that more than Pony, honestly. I do, at least.

Discussion? I feel like many of the discussion points we've had have been talked over at length. We've probably already saturated the points we could make on anything pony. We'd need something really interesting to talk about Pony liked we used to.

Images? I still feel like they are out there. Macros are still made, but some of the "just perfect" ones may end up being better than new ones. So you end up seeing older ones?

Art? I've seen this on a few tumblr blogs. It's bothersome, but understandable.

Some artists just get tired of drawing the same thing over and over.

They want to move on to drawing something else. And since the fandom isn't likely growing too much larger than it has now, there aren't a lot of new artists to take their place. I remember reading from one FiM animator saying how she doesn't want to draw ponies forever. She wanted to move on at some point and draw other things. Same with the voice actors, the writers, even the directors, and of course, Lauren Faust has already moved on.

I'll try to tl;dr that:

*The fandom is beginning to focus more on each other than the show. That's also occurring here. And for some, talking about ponies may be getting a little stale. We still love the show, the new episodes, and we love what it is. I'm not going to stop watching it anytime soon. But it's less novel, I think.

Ideological wrote:

  • There are more Anons than users, I guess. Simple statistics.
  • Don't get upset or down about this, Ideo, but you seem to be focusing way too much on becoming popular or becoming noticed. If you're doing something as a hobby and not for a paycheck, then do it regardless of how good you are at it or how famous you become. Seriously, being popular and liked is nice. I won't lie. But I like being liked by the people I care about more.

Is our attention not enough for you, Ideological?

I thought you loved us…

I don't really like confrontation, as odd as it may seem. As far as I know, I haven't actually started any confrontation on my own. It was all in response to stuff others started.

I'm not sure what you mean by the fandom becoming more focused on each other than the actual show. Remember that we on the KYM site are heavily isolated from the rest of the brony communities (Ponychan, Ponibooru, etc.). With only so many regular posters on this thread, it's going to become inevitable.

NOT LIKE I LIKE YOU GUYS OR ANYTHING. SHEESH.
Anyways, I still do see people discussing the show and whatnot. I don't think that's going to stop for awhile.

@burning_phoneix

I don't think I've thrown down with you since the War of Words (that Random was a meanie about…) And I don't have to be anywhere tomorrow.

Hmm.

The show isn't particularly linear. The show was asked to be made so that a kid could watch most episodes in any order and not miss much.

Are we ever going to see a pony as sad as Pinkie Pie? I mean, there was Party of One and there was Baby Cakes. Heartwrenching stuff. Twilight came close in the Return of Harmony Part 2, and Sweetie Belle was pulling on my heartstrings in Sisterhooves Social, but Pinkie took the cake.

…What?

Will my heart survive the rest of this season? We're just about halfway through. Surely, we're going to see some more saddening stuff, right? (and I like sad, as long as there's a happy enough ending. And you're not going to see a bad ending in FiM.)

I don't think I gave a simple question, just address the points, OK?
