Sorry to interruPt the discussion about sluts, but in I used to be a pathetic brony. I hadnt watched a single episode of pony, until yesterday. Between then and todAy, i watched all of season 1, season 2 up to the new one, (derpy speaks omfg!!!) and read my little dashie and "on a cross and arrow" fanfics. But the feel after the fanfics is greater than before i had actually watched the show. Its the feeling like after a movie, like you want to read/watch more, but this is to the point of… Emptyness. Im afraid my attachment to these Ponies will send me back into a depression. I. Love and appreciate the characters more after getting to know them through the show. Its official, im in love with both the personality of fluttershy and pinkie pie.
Anyways, has anyone else felt like this? I think its cause ive overdosed on pony….

I cannot view YouTube video's at this time due to slow internet problems (which is part of the reason for my confusion in the previous page)

So would anyone care to describe to me what is happening in the number of YT video's posted here?

I gather that one of them was posted for the interesting music but instead everyone's attention was diverted to a certain pony in that video that was acting like a slut

I also gather that another video was really just a whole punch of ponies with no context.

Also, Pyro what the hell? They are ponies man….PONIES!

Bitch pls, THIS is slow: TOOK ME A HALF HOUR TO UPLOAD AND REPLY!!
I put the calendar there to show its 2012. Fibre optic line died. Press to load forums, go take a shower. Noooo! :)

Verbs, I don't feel bad. It's just a minor scuffle, but it still managed to cause chaos for a little bit. The whole feel like an idiot and regret were my attempt at an apology. I never said it was a flamewar. I know what a flamewar looks like. I've seen plenty. But thanks anyway. I won't do any R34 ever again. But I still love Luna. Don't push me on that. Once again, sorry. Gas fumes really mess with you. (It was an accident, DAMMIT!)
And BlueScreen, IT WAS THE GAS FUMES TALKING!

Yeah, screw this, im gonna disable images in firefox, this takes waaay too long. Text loading is actually pretty fast over dial-up

@ βιjωτδο είναι Έλληνες "Bijutdo" I sorta know what you are talking about. You get "burned out" from over exposure. You might find that if you take a break until a new episode, you find interest in this show again.

Wow. This forum is moving! I guess ill go back to the fj pony thread, too many People, and i always get octa-ninja'd, so my posts will probably get ignored.
Feels bad, brony…..

Coincidence or not, I have (finally) just read the whole plot of Half Life.

Still keep messing up Gordon with Morgan though.

@Pyro

Don't worry, we forgive you. So have some hugs

And try to quit the gas fumes if you may

Aperture is Black Mesa's competitor too.

GUILT TRIP!

Thanks, Greg. The gas fumes were accidental. Stupid leak in the gas powered snow blower. Combine that with working that machine to the bearings (FUCK YOU SNOWSTORM), and the result is a weird high, where you tend to operate normaly, but you say and do things you wouldn't normaly do. But you still can type, move, and speak normaly.
As for the Companion Pony, am I a bad person for laughing as I tossed it into the incinerator?
And Greg, the "Plot" of Half-Life? God, let this effect end soon!

I dont mean i dont get anything from the show like this, i mean i want to have more pony than humanly possible, i want to BE a pony. the fact im not is sending me into a depression. And yes, im depressive ( and ADD). But i need pony. I need love.

God this is making me cry how cruel love is in the real world.
And disregard my last post.

Wait, you've never seen an episode up until now?

Also, Fluttershy?!

Eh, Fluttershy has her moments, I guess. Pinkie has her moments, but that's because she won't take her medicine.

Anywho, Bijutdo wrote:

I think the closest I've gotten to that is when I see Twilight. She reminds me of a girl I used to be very close to (especially in Luna Eclipsed.) She told me things about her that she never told anyone. We stayed up late into the night and watched shooting stars And due to romantic frustrations and grudges I hold, I went and screwed that up.

But even with that gaff, I feel most "connected" to Twilight. I think it's also because she has a personality similar to many of the girls I hung out with in college. (I feel that way about AJ as well, because she has a personality of many girls I know from back home. But without the western accent.)

And I do have a connection to Pinkie Pie. When Fluttershy cries, I don't feel sh!t. Don't know why. I'm probably evil. Possibly a republican. But when Pinkie gets sad or cries, I feel awful. Just terrible.

If I delved into the depths of my own mind, then I might guess that is because I see personality traits in Pinkie that I would like to see in the world. When those traits aren't present, it reminds me of how a person with that thirst for fun and life (and sarsaparilla) would have those traits beaten out of them in reality.

Actually, that last sentence is making something out of nothing. I don't know why I feel so bad when Pinkie feels bad. But I've had that feeling for a while. I never expected to cry reading a fanfic. I would have questioned my own sanity if I knew I would cry again after reading the same fanfic.

But Pinkie did it.

They're all likable characters, on the whole. Some of the personalities are like that of people you could expect to see in reality. I don't see why a person wouldn't like and become attached to their personalities.

inb4 Because they're ponies.

Ah, the teal deer strikes again!
But thanks. I always enjoy your posts. But i completely lost it on Baby cakes when pinkie bawled….
But most of my strong emotion comes from, as i said it, the fanfic. Its arguably the best fanfic ive read to date, probably because i OD'd on pony and i had a feel from the start.

I honestly like Fluttershy. Not because she's cute because shes kind, she does not normally trust things all that much for that matter also paranoid, she only hangs out with people she is familiar with but she becomes less shy if she sees something of interest (Like first meeting Spike). She honestly sounds a lot like me. I honestly want to date some one with her personality traits because I will know what to do and how to make them feel happy and comfortable with me.

I like Pinkie Pie too because honestly she is something I feel close too as well, Pinkie Pie is interesting a extraordinary, characters like her I have appeal too because I want to become more like them…I want make people happy, make them laugh, enjoy myself too while I am at it, and not be afraid of what people think of me because of what I do or anything for that matter. Pinkie Pie also reminds me of my younger sister in a way, she is energetic, talkative, also has a lot of friends.

I want to be kind of Apple Jack as well; hard working, respectful, a family pony, honest. I want to be strong and powerful too, but in heart she is helpful to the town and every pony around her. She cant stop till a task is done and if her mind is set on something it is almost impossible to derail her from it (according to that one episode where she was drunk tired as hell). But she gets her shit done that's the important thing.

Twilight is a mare that reminds me of my older sister; she knows her shit and smart, but also a nerd. When it comes to intelligence I want to become her, I want to become a robotic engineer when I get out of college (I am still in high school but I am still aiming for robotic engineer). I want to know as much science and important information of how the world works as much as possible.

@Pyro

Are you there isn't something else mixed in those gas fumes?

@Robert

You act as though you know my internet speeds. Need I remind you what country I am in?

Hint: I'm the user with the second worst internet connection. X-singular being the one with the worst but when my broadband usage gets overused and I have to pay another bill, my internet speeds get reduced to Singulars.

I have not capped by broadband usage just yet, but I am about to. That's why I am staying off YouTube. When that happens I simply cannot load the Pony General thread unless I disable every image. Posting ALSO takes me half an hour, provided the page loads at all since I get frequent disconnects. YouTube will not function whatsoever. Not even a 10MB download will ever reach completion

Basic HTML Gmail is pretty much the only website that will work until the bills are paid. So don't "bitch please" me

Hum, just putting aside the current topic (if there is one ATM), but I came across this excellent article telling about the show and prazing the bronie community written by Hot Diggedy Demon (yes, the creator of the infamous Jappleack and the MOVS. videos)

A little warning to the fans of Friends to don't be upset though I agree with him

BlueScreen, you caught me. I stared into a fire for about half an hour after the inital incident. I should have just detoxed my system instead of looking at flames.
Of course, it could have been the fumes from the epoxy my dad uses for fiberglassing.

Dude, brohoof me. We're both in the same situation. I am paying a second bill cause Im over the cap. And yeah, anything text-based no images works okay. When does your cap/usage reset? I.e billing period or w/e. Mine resets on Feb 6th, so I gotta dial-up till then :(

Well, I just got home from another day terrorizing Manhattan and decided to read up on what my favorite internet group was up to… and what. THE. F*** IS GOING ON?!?!?!

No but seriously, I missed out on a lot apparently. As for the whole nickname discussion… I was thinking I'd just start calling you all by your first names. That'll be fun.

Sounds like you're going through the same developmental stages as me. Trust me, it gets better, even if the want to be a pony never goes away (you don't want it to, it keeps you sane).

Hi, Im Ivan P… i mean Robert Edwin House

This is from the article Dr. Horse linked (I can't offer enough kramas for finding that.)

I like to think it has something to do with the show’s ability to reach a certain level of cute without crossing that line over into schmaltzy or sugary. Who among us hasn’t watched a sleeping cat video on Youtube or something equally as insipid? And as insipid as it is, it probably has 25 million views. I assume the same basic principle applies here. It’s this adorableness, partnered with the show’s unique sense of sentimentality, that has caused people to create an emotional attachment to the characters.

I'd request that if you've made an argument as to why you think bronies like the show or why you like the show to read the article completely before comments. Max said that "well-written characters," and "clever humor" won't fly to anyone who doesn't like the show themselves. But yeah.

Just read the article. It's freaking brilliant.

But I think that the quoted paragraph may have some universal truth to it.

I can't…say anything about that, Dr. Horse. It just…

I…

@Gregory

His points are agreeable.

Yes, there is not simple explanation. When people say "Good characters, good writing, good animation", that's just icing on the cake but not the core of the attraction.

Anyone can say those things about any show like they (I like Stargate Universe. It has good characters, good writing and good CGI). That's why the general public won't buy it.

I have mentioned before that the thing that really draws people into the fandom is simply the fandom itself and what it has created but if people are not willing to believe that then yes; there really is no real way to explain why the fandom exists. So it becomes a matter of "you either like it or you don't"

That was an interesting read. I'd write more but I need to scram for a moment

@Robert

[Brohoof]

I think I have about 800MB left at most. Which wont get reset for….oh lord…3 weeks.

Also ninjacount = 8

This thread is travelling well over the speed limit. Another 5 posts rolled in while I was editing this

@Iambob- id prefer bij or bijutdo to the first name thingy. I dont want people copypasta-ing greek just to say hi!

I know you're kidding. I also knew you were Ivan before you revealed you were Ivan (I decided to check your wall when I was bored one day). I'm not stalking you guys, I just like gathering info, it's fun. And sure, HUGS!

@Pyro
Right, I learned your first name in the last synchtube we had… I forgot it though, sorry. It's not that you're not important, it's just that I was sleepy so I forgot some important things that happened then.

@Bijutdo
Alright then, I'll just call you Bijutdo.

@Iambob

Like I said and as you know, my first name is very unique, and aside from the popular ones, there aren't many instances of the name. As it is, I'm pretty easy to find in a Google search. I'd prefer it if you didn't, but I can't stop you if you want to.

@Connor

You amaze me sometimes. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, then I wouldn't believe you were 15. Maybe I was just a turd when I was a teenager.

I used to hate The Weaver. And then I became Aware…

What did I do this time? Is it about me wanting to be a pony keeping me from going insane? I didn't mean to be deep!!!

@Verbose
Oh don't worry… I have already placed you under surveillance. It was easy finding you. Nah, but seriously, I wouldn't go that far. Knowing your first names is one thing, doing a search through your lives is another. That's going waaaay too far.

I honestly liked the article, I came to realized why even myself how I * truly* love the show besides how people say "it got good characters, the plot is well thought out, and it's funny" etc. But I am saving this and using this one people who ask why I like MLP.

Note to self…freaking Connor out is fun. Place random sentences in posts praising Connor on the most vague of comments to confuse him…

Oh, it's just how you said what you said, Connor. It was interesting, that's all. There wasn't much to it. You're not The Chosen One or anything. Probably.

Wait, are we compairing the fandom to cake now? Hum, not bad.

If that's so, bronies would than be that "special ingredient" you realize it was put in the middle. You know it shouldn't be there according to the recipe, coudn't be there by natural ways and sometimes wasn't even supposed to be there. But somehow… you just like it, and realize it's not that bad. Even more, it's a great adding if you really think about.

Damn, this food philosophy made me hungry now.

@Dac

Good sketch, that turned out really well. Are you going to color it in?

@Gregory

Hmm…I like that analogy, delicious too.

@Phoneix

Yes, I knew there would be some who take the opposite stance. That's natural.

At least for me anyway, I like the fandom for the fandom. I do like the show itself and I cannot argue that it is anything other than the center of whole fandom, however I find it to not be the largest attraction for me personally. The largest attraction being the community, and what it creates.

I feel I am not alone on that stance so when people ask me why the whole Brony fandom exists, that is usually what I tell them. But I will take care to point at that many (like yourself), really do just love the cartoon and that is that.

Now who negged me? If you disagree with my points or believe I am wrong, feel free to voice your opinions or correct me. Don't be afraid of me, I may just accept your point of view.

No need to hide behind negakramas. That's just silly.
