In other news, does anyone else kinda miss the drought during the summer? (Blasphemous, I know.) In a way, I miss not having an abundance of Pony stuff to consider. As much as I like the show, I also enjoy following the phenomenon and it's development.

Maybe that's the reason why I'm not a huge fan of FC's or fanfics. Art, the increase in the quality of it, and the subsequent increase in the volume of quality art indicates some growth in the community. More people are wanting to draw ponies and people continuing to draw ponies and getting better at drawing FiM ponies indicate an increase in number of bronies and the staying power of the phenomenon, respectively.

Fanfic numbers could potentially show the same thing, but quality is a little harder and more time consuming to assess with fanfiction. Music…well, I could simply say that I like a lot of adult contemporary music and believe a lot of it is quality work, and most everyone here would say that it's got crap quality. So Pony music isn't a gauge of that either.
 
I digress (as per the usual.) During the summer, small stuff like official sketches, announcements of the third season, the premiere date of the second season, the discussions about what Discord would be like…we don't have that right now.

We've got a lot of official pony to consider in the main source: episodes. So I think that it's not stuff we have to paw and scratch at now.

I don't know. It may just be a "grass is greener" thing too.

@What music Ponies would listen to

AJ = Country/Folk for certain. I bet she HATES dubstep.

Twi = She probably doesn't even listen to music and prefers reading in silence. For some reason I envision her to be completely clueless about her own music taste and has little interest in most genre's with a particular distaste for silly music. I bet she hates Pinkies music collection

Flutters = Progressive Trance techno. She listens to it while high. But she most likely dislikes very loud stuff

Pinkie = Most likely stuff like the Ting Tings; overexcited and childish party pop music. Or maybe even Richard Cheese and Weird Al Yankovich. She likely hates sad and emo'ish music so no Evanescence for her.

Rarity = Classical for certain. But she might even like stuff like Evanescence too. I just envision her really liking vocals and despising Fluttershy's music taste

Dash = Rock/Metal for certain. Specifically fast paced stuff like System of a Down and Metallica. But I envision her having pretty open music tastes, so long as it isn't slow

Discord = Nyan Cat. And only Nyan Cat. 24/7

BlueScreen, I only bow down to Luna. You should know that by now. As for the marrying Celestia part, the NLR does not take kindly to associates of the Solar Empire. Prepare to be proptly set ablaze.
As for Fluttershy and trance, this is probably it:

For Dash's, how about "Welcome to the Jungle", or "Jack the Ripper" by Motorhead? I think anything linked to thrash/speed metal would fit her. Or maybe grindcore.

I wanted to find links to VG music, since I don't have a great knowledge of music not heard on adult contemporary radio stations, but I'm reading for class, and finding proper music would take up too much time.

But Pinkie would listen to bubble gum JPop. Otherwise, I'd agree with most everything BSoD just said. Some people don't like music, which is beyond me, but if there is one like that it would either be Twilight or Fluttershy.
 
And think of what songs Fluttershy has sung herself. There was that Disney moment in Cutie Mark Chronicles and the Find a Pet song from Season 2. If you could place that into a genre (showtunes,) maybe that would describe Fluttershy's tastes best.

Not too loud, rather calm and atmospheric but also something she can get stoned to.

Note that my whole idea stems from my impression that Fluttershy is a stoner so if we cut that out we are left with Fluttershy's own musical talent of being a vocalist.

I thought about Opera, but that may be too loud for her. She may very well be like Twilight; not interested in any music apart from the stuff she writes and sings herself.

I cannot pin down what music genre her singing might be in.

Well, there is salt. And that one pony got pretty…happy after having too much of the salt.

And, despite popular belief, alcohol (salt) is a drug. So, yes. There are drugs in Equestria. But I will say that I don't think there's anything stronger than salt.

As for chiptune in the ponyverse, I don't really care how it's created as long as it has a chippy sound (one of the reasons I don't bother with the chiptune communities.) If there is electronica, then there could be chippy-sounding music. Problem is that there'd have to be a precedent for chip-like sounds. I assume that there are no video games or the like, so it may not have crossed anyone's mind to use blips as a form of instrumentation.

Salt seems to be equivalent to alcohol, which technically isn't a drug.
Fun fact: One of the show runners (I think it was Thessien?) confirmed in a post on /co/ there's no actual alcohol in Equestria.

Huzzah! The drugs and stoners have been doubled! I think that ponies have drugs. Posion joke would probably make a powerful hallucinagenic. Same with half of the herbs in Zecora's hut. They may help, but mixed in a different way, they could make a pony trip.
