I feel very sorry for any lurkers who are viewing this thread thinking we're serious. If they resented this fandom I wouldn't blame them in the least.
…
Dear God, I hope none of you are serious.

You do know that song is about a kid who finds his dad's revolver and goes on a killing spree against kids who were richer than him, right?

If I'm not mistaken, it's… shudder Megasweet who made them.

@Images
We really need Verbose back.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

@muumi

Your drawing… it is incredible. I am both amazed and jelly, mostly amazed though.

@badsiterep
Headcrabs you say?

Connor, the KYM forums aren't just pony forums, dammit.
Besides that, we're heavily isolated from the rest of the brony fandom by using this site.

Skimming through the TVTropes page for Friendship is Magic again…

"Similarly Named Works: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is both the title of the show and the title of a Novelization of the pilot episodes of the show."

Wait, wut?
They made a novelization of it?
If someone posts a link, I will give you three cookies.

Oh, fuck.
"65 Episode Cartoon: Although there's as of yet no evidence that the show will end on this mark like several other cartoons, Season 3 (being only 13 episodes long so far, it could become 26 later on like the first two seasons) brings the episode count up to 65, perfect for syndication."

According to TVTropes' article on 65 Episode Cartoon, a lot of cartoons only run for about 65 episodes, and are then canned, making them perfect for syndication.
The current episode count we know of so far is approximately 65 episodes.
…
Fuck.

@CitationNeeded
You know those Rich kids could be Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, correct, and it would be just Applebloom having a day dream or a nightmare, right?

Remember that the HUB is owned by Hasbro and compared to the power houses in Kids entertainment ( CN, Disney channel, Disney XD, Nick, nickelodeon network, hell even boomerang), the HUB is quite weak. The only show that has really brought it fame is MLP: FIM. There is no reason at all to cancel it anytime soon if they want their channel to work out. Im sure they are going to milk it for all its got, i.e. like nick has done with spongebob.
That is, unless they are counting on shows like Jem, goosebumps, and all the other crap they have to be the big money makers. Just remember Hasbro is a company out to make money.

EDIT: I got two MLP toys the other day, Pinkie pie and Fluttershy. Fuck yes!

I got a Fluttershy and Applejack, and a set of those blind bag ponies. Fluttershy Y U look like Rainbow Dash but only different colored?

That being said, I'm beginning to think that Trixie and Gilda are not going to be making reappearances this season, it's just an unfortunate feeling I got.

Im gonna be talking off, but before I go, have you guys heard about the new AJ episode? Its called the super speedy cider squeezy 6000. Its supposed to be like the american folk tales about john henry and paul bunyan, Man against the machine. Sounds pretty cool, just hope big mac doesn't die :3

Just returned from a new years party, a lot of people got smashed so that was fun. In fact, half way through my pony hater friend said something along the lines of "at least I don't make songs about ponies" but I don't think anyone really took any notice. Anyway, It's already 2012 for me over in Englandland I dunno about you guys. So Happy New Year everyone! Try not to get too drunk.(I'm looking at you Berry! Oh who am I kidding, you're always drunk.)

Getting drunk is not a problem, getting drunk and then being stupid enough to get behind a car and to risk your life and other's? That's a problem.

Its been 2012 over here in New Zealand for 14 hours already. The rest of the world should have caught up by now.

Took you guys long enough, sheesh :p

@Dr.Ray
Yea, lucky for me I'm 15 so I don't drive anyway and I hardly drink. Some people there were throwing up and laying on the floor (It's odd being a sober person among drunks). But yea, stay safe everybody!

@BSoD
Curse you and your being ahead of us!

Curse you and your being ahead of us!

Don't complain, It's 6:15 pm here….

I'm not doing very much tonight for a couple of reasons:

(1) – All my friends are currently in Canada. I am currently in the US.
(2) – I have a ton of stuff to do tomorrow, such as pack for my trip back to Canada.
(3) – New Years was never really a thing in my family anyways.

I'm bored already. Time to go drink beer and watch movies.

Can anyone help me with something?

This picture I posted, someone said it was a repost, but I can't seem to find the original, if it was even posted, if so, can you post where the first one is at?

Well, since Muumi got off his ass and drew some stuff, I guess I need to get off my ass and right some tl;dr that this thread desperately needs. Basically, this is chapter two of my fic that I started way back on page 189 of Pony General 2:

https://knowyourmeme.com/forums/general/topics/11602-kym-pony-general-20?page=189

Now, I'm not a creative writer so I apologize for the shittiness and I basically just go "I'm gonna write something today" and sit down and type something in the box on KYM and hit post: No proofreading, no nothin' so excuse all the typos and the general uninspiredness of the story. At this point I'm only doing it because I have a reputation for tl;dr that I must uphold.

For the purposes of Ninja's count. The last post before I started writing is dac-attack's talking about the HUB milking ponies like Nick milks spongebob.

Algeneb is a massive star about 8 times the mass of our own sun, it marks the far northwestern border (if you look at a galactic map straight down with Earth in the South of the galaxy) of the Dominion of Sol and is notable only for three things:

  1. The gas giant Buraq which is home to a Helium 3 mining operation and the Algeneb security penitentiary.
  1. The border crossing with Magistracy of Lacerta.
  1. The fourth planet from the star, known as Algeneb Delta was scouted long ago and found to be perfect in every way for colonization with the sole problem being….it was already inhabited by an alien species and by galactic law that meant hands off the planet till the species joined the galactic community.

So we went our merry ways. It wasn't unusual to find primitive civilizations so we tagged this one and moved on. The route through the system had some meager traffic traveling from the Dominion to the Magistracy but overall, the place is pretty remote…..and boring.

And here I find myself, a signals officer aboard the Battlecruiser "Clarity", flagship of the Fifth Fleet, orbiting Algeneb Delta INSTEAD of our proper patrol area: Buraq.

The reason we were so out of position was because of the rough man in front of me, Rear Admiral Hendrik de Jaeger, assigned to this command two years ago, who was busy reading a report that I had given him. He was growing flustered with the length of the document I'd given him.

"Spare me the details Midshipman Webber, how many tons of contraband was this kid trying to smuggle in?" He had barely read the document but he was never one to really care about paperwork.

"About 25 tons, sir. We caught him near Freeport Six and have him and his contraband interned at Border Station Inverness."

The Admiral sighed, looked off into empty space and started unconsciously fiddling with the medall on his neck, the Pour le Soleil. I could tell he was trying to think of a way out of the mountain of paperwork that dealt with disposing of 25 tons of Contrabrand. Finally, he spoke without breaking his distant absentminded gaze.

"Who's in command at Border Station Inverness, anyway?" I was surprised that the Admiral didn't remember.

"Sir…..it's Commodore Stewart Connolly." That got his attention quick. "Bonnie? What's he doing all the way out at the border?" Now I was really surprised, Commodore Stewart Connolly was a close friend of the Admiral, no one else could use that nickname "Bonnie" without being punched in the gut if the Commodore heard of it.

"Sir…..you assigned him there yourself…after that row you had a few months ago?" The Admiral scratched his head for a few moments, recollecting his thoughts before he snapped his fingers as the memory hit him. "Oh yeah! I remember! It was the argument about the ponies!" This was news to me as no one really knew the reason why the falling out had happened, but in hindsight it should have been obvious it was the ponies. "And for your information Midshipman, I didn't assign him there. He requested to be transferred out himself." Another bit of news for me and probably the reason why the Admiral didn't know the CO of the border post.

"Well!" de Jaeger slammed his open palms on the table and stood up. "Tell Bonnie to take care of this contraband problem, it's well within his pay grade. If you need me, I'll be on the bridge." And with a quick salute he left the room. I called out after him "Observing the ponies, sir?"

"Mmm-hmm" was the reply that I got.

I let the Admiral "Sharkbait" (The nickname coming from an old glorious battle that propelled him to the height of the Navy) turn a corner before I slumped in my chair. It's been like this for the past year, ever since our fearless leader took a look at the sideshow of the Algeneb system, he couldn't stop obsessing over the equine sapient species that inhabited "The Delta" as we sailors called it but the Admiral insisted we all call it "Equestria", the native name.

Through a network of ancient observation posts, space based research observation satellites and even the Clarity's internal integrated telescope, the Admiral would watch the ponies for hours on end, delegating nearly every task to someone else so his observations can continue.

It's for this reason that nearly half the Fifth fleet is orbit around Delta instead of docked in the stations of Buraq WHERE WE SHOULD BE! at least Freeport Six had some entertainment to be had, staying on this ship for months at a time was driving me stir-crazy!

Back on the bridge and on my console, I looked over to the captain's seat. Ol' Sharkbait was sitting there, looking at his own console (no doubt creepily stalking some ponies) with a look of almost infantile joy on his face. It was kind of unnerving to see who we thought was one of the baddest motherfuckers in the Dominion Navy be so lax in command and so obsessive over some marshmallows that looked vaguely equine.

Suddenly, he jolted in his seat. I immediately went back to feigning work on my console but that wasn't necessary, real work was on the way.

"HELMSMAN! Keep the ship anchored, orient -15 degrees longitude and -10 degrees latitude!"

The helmsman immediately began the small adjustment and the Admiral walked over to me. "Webber, get the camera pointed at 57 degrees, 29 minutes,24 seconds north 4 degrees 13 minutes 30 seconds west on Equestria."

I felt I had to say something "Sir, with all due respect the planet is called Algeneb Delta and this is not a "camera" it's a very advanced 100 inch reflecting telescope with state of the art Adaptive optics that can filter out atmospheric distortions and…." I stopped talking when I noticed the death glare he was giving me. "Right away, sir"

He leaned on the back of my seat is the image came into view, a very pretty mountain top city was at the co-ordinates. "Center on that palace in the east of the city, closest to the mountain." I did as I was told, I still did not see what had the Admiral in such a fit. He stared for a moment and then pointed at the screen. "Up 10, right 23, center, zoom in 3" I did as I was instructed and was greeted by a sight of a balcony, with two ponies upon it gazing at the night sky.

One was an tall alabaster white unicorn..or pegasus…or both I guess with a flowing rainbowish mane….it was quite pretty to look at…HOW does her mane do that? The second pony was slightly smaller, also a pegasus/unicorn hybrid but dark blue with a flowing dark colored mane…again pretty and again left me wondering how the fuck it does that!

"Okay, sir……what are we looking at?" but I didn't receive a response, the Admiral was wide eyed and almost looked…fearful? "Sir? Is everything alright?"

He hesitated for a moment before speaking, still not breaking his sight from the screen. "The question is not "what are we looking at?", Webber. The question is……what are they looking at?"

I really didn't like it when he spoke in zen riddles. I looked back at the screen, the Blue one was pointing at the night sky, indicating something to the white tall one. "I….don't know, sir? Stargazing I suppose?"

The Admiral shook his head and pointed again to the screen "Look closer….they're looking…at us, midshipman" Now I knew he was out of his mind. I buried the urge to shout "Are you out of your goddamn pony-addled mind?!" and took a respectful tone. "Sir….how is that even possible? We're near past the lunar orbit, nothing can see us with the naked eye and even with telescopes they'd be hard pressed to make out anything."

"I can tell when someone is looking at me Midshipman, it's a sixth sense that comes from being prey and besting the hunter. I know you stare at me for long periods of time on the bridge, probably thinking "what does he see in those ponies?""

He knew? "How did you" I was cut off by a wave of a hand "I didn't, you just confirmed it for me." I cursed under my breath, the Admiral most likely heard me but let it go and pointed again at the screen.

(continued part 3)

"Luna….she knows. She knows we're here" We're naming them now? That's just great. "Luna, sir? You named her Luna because she was on the moon?" The fact she was on the moon was a scientific curiosity but not really spectacular, there were several species that actually thrived in the vacuum of space such as Gargantis proximae. A little pony on the moon was studied for a while but quickly forgotten, we'd always stay on the dark side of the moon, a place she never ventured, before she somehow made it back to her planet.

"I didn't name her, that's her actual name. The white one is Celestia, they're sisters. Royalty too." I thought he was joking but it was all said in a very matter of fact tone. I had to ask the obvious question "And you know this…..how?" He looked at me like I was crazy "Well, I overheard them of course! How else?"

I was dumbfounded "Wait a minute….you actually understand their gibberish?" again, he looked at me like I was crazy "but of course! Their language was deciphered years ago and there are several books on the subject! It's a very simple Germanic style syntax structure, which shouldn't be surprising since they based their languages on those plaques we put on those towers." He continued talking about the peculiarities of the language for few minutes but I honestly don't remember (nor do I wish to remember) anything, all I can think of was the realization that my boss' pony obsession had reached a new level. Eventually, he finished and simply stared at the screen.

"What do you see, Celestia?" he muttered to himself, and as if to answer his question, Celestia's horn started to glow a bright yellow, brighter and brighter, her face strained as though she was lifting a great weight, the Admiral's eye's were almost bulging out of their sockets and I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive as well. Suddenly, nothing but white covered the screen…..then static.

Me and the Admiral stood dumbfounded for what seemed like an eternity before he broke the silence "GODDAMIT WEBBER Get the image back up!" I tried as a I might but nothing could be done to get the image from the telescope free from static. The admiral went back to observations from the satellites and he confirmed that Celestia and Luna had retired indoors. Whatever Celestia was doing, we'd missed it. Needless to say, the Sharkbait was not in a good mood. "Get someone on EVA and see what the fuck is wrong with that overgrown camcorder. I'll be in my quarters."

We sent someone out to inspect the damage and as his helmet cam came across the telescope mounting, my jaw hit the floor. I jumped up and dashed to the Admiral's quarters, banging his door relentlessly. "Skipper! You need to see this!" I could hear his groggy voice from the other side of the door, I'd just woken him up but he'd lose the bad mood after he's seen this. "What is it sailor? If you need authorization for repairs on the telescope just let Jamail handle it." heh, even now he was avoiding paperwork. "Sir, you NEED to see this! No one else can handle this." I waited for a moment and the reply came "Fine, I'll be up in five minutes Webber, this better be good." Damn right it's good.

(continued in final part)

Five minutes later, shouts of "Skipper on deck!" confirmed he had made it and he looking grumpy as usual. "Alright Webber, show me why this routine EVA needed me up here."

I smirked and spoke in my mouthpiece "Alright Higgins, show him that burn". As the camera panned to the left, the hull of the ship was sporting a set of very strange burns, not a random burn by sustaining enemy fire but…as though someone has taken a torch and burned them in deliberately. I knew what they were, they were letters, Equestrian letters and a glance at the amazed look on the big boss' face proved that he realized what they were as well.

"'Well sir….what does it say?" He hesitated for a moment. The whole bridge was paying attention, waiting for his translation. He scanned the symbols one last time and he had it "It says…….Gotcha!"

We all stood silent. Seconds passed like hours until one voice broke the silence…..the Admiral was laughing. Not chuckling or grinning but laughing hysterically, as though he heard the funniest joke this side of the galactic rim. "SHE KNOWS! HAHA! SHE KNOWS!" was all he can say for the next five minutes. Finally, he calmed down and wiped tears of laughter from his eyes, I decided to risk his temporary insanity and ask him the question on all our minds. "Sir….what do we do now?"

He smiled at me, not as he usually did but a rather mischievous smile. "Right now? We're going for a little moonwalk. Anyone up for a stroll on the Lunar surface?"

3 days later
Canterlot Palace Inner Gardens

Celestia looked up to the blue sky….perfect weather was scheduled for that day but it didn't matter, their visitors were hard enough to see at night let alone during the day when the sun blotted out everything in sky but for the past three nights they had been absent for some reason, did that little prank go too far?

"You think they might be angry with us?" Her partner in crime, Luna, snapped her out of her daydream. "I don't believe so, it wasn't very much other than a scratch" Her sister still looked unconvinced. "Do you really think they can read that message? What if they don't understand it?!" The fear in her little sister's voice was almost cute. "Don't worry Luna, you yourself said they've been there for several centuries at least, more than enough time to decipher our language. And if those plaques are from the same people, then it should be easier considering they gave us the seeds to language." Her sister looked defeated and merely went back to sipping her tea.

"Don't worry Luna, I'm sure everything will be fine, let's just enjoy our little tea time in this wonderful afternoon weath…..er……Luna, why did you schedule a meteor during the daytime?"

Luna followed her older sister's gaze and true enough, there seemed to be a meteor in the sky, faint in the sunlight but still there. "That's….not one of mine….strange."

The two sisters continued to follow the trail as it got closer and closer….soon enough Celestia realized it was had heading straight at them! Had she miscalculated? Had the strange creatures took offense to her little joke? Whatever it was, she needed to stop that object hurtling towards them! But before she can focus her magic, something happened…billowing white sheets erupted from the object….parachutes! The craft lost speed….ever more slowly it descended, until it was about 200 feet above the two sisters….and then an explosion split the object in half and Celestia could only see one thing….whiteness….whiteness as far as her eye can see but then her breathing became more complicated and she began coughing… "*HACK*COUGH* LUNA? WHERE ARE YOU? WHAT IS THIS?!" She could hear her sister laughing a short distance away, Celestia's vision was returning, it the became obvious that the white blur earlier was a large amount of white powder dropped on them, she saw Luna giggling like a schoolfilly, covered from head to hoof in white powder. "How do I look big sister? If I had a rainbow mane, I'd think I look exactly like you!" She had a point, they did share a resemblance but right now Celestia had bigger worries "Luna…what is this..dust?" The question only made her sister grin even wider "It's Moondust silly! Looks like our friends sent me a little present!"

At that moment, the two halves of the capsule carrying the moondust dropped to the ground near the sisters, on one half was lettering written in the Equestrian language.

I'm no easy bait

Celestia chuckled, looked straight up into the sky and whispered "We'll see about that."

Holy fuckballs that was long, about 3000 words actually. I hope you stick with it and read it though. I worked hard on it :(

But…I totally understand if you can't read it because it's too long…really…it's no trouble…really…

@Cite

But if he did that, then he wouldn't be able to brag his Tealdeerity to Verbose.

@Phoneix

But seriously Phoneix I do recommend you use Google Docs in the future. Nonetheless that was brilliant. I don't usually read fanfictions but I DO read sci-fi. I'm pretty sure you made about 5 references to popular sci-fi stories ;) (I won't say what they are in case I'm wrong) I demand you notify me immediately if you write a continuation here or produce a complete script. I must know what happens next!

Lastly:

ALL HAIL PHONEIX! KING OF THE LONG POSTS

@phoneix
dat wall of text
i joke, i have no idea what's going on here but i read it!

"He leaned on the back of my seat is the image came into view,"
"is" should be "as"

there seemed to be many paragraphs where multiple characters spoke, from what i've been told and from what i tend to see, a new paragraph is started whenever a different character talks.

i didn't see many things wrong here, i can say that i like this, i laughed a lot, the part where Webber saw luna and celestia's manes was hilarious. Google docs or something is always welcomed, no need for walls of text… but if it was just a link to a doc i probably wouldn't have read it >_>

anyway, i mainly jumped in here to say happy new years everypony.

Two things: 1) Happy New Year everyone. 2) @Phoneix: I'm conflicted. I read every post in this thread but your post is a fan fic. I don't read fan fics. I'm not sure what I should do… you've got me caught between a rock and a hard place.

Happy new year's day!

I always hate new years parties. Alcohol isn't my thing, and after pretty much doing nothing the past two parties, this year I stayed at home with my family, and also did nothing. Worthy tradeoff? Meh, I get to spend some time with my family (which may or may not be a good thing).

Oh and I noticed that a handful of people returned to the thread today after being gone for awhile. Welcome back!

Happy New Year! (Picture rushed nevermind how it looks – vectors demand that I take my time working with em, and well, I didn't – sue me)

GMT-8

¬.¬

still 2011….

@Ivan: It may be rushed, but still, good work. I know that vectors-consume-way-too-much-time feel.

Last edited Jan 01, 2012 at 01:37AM EST

@Opspe – yeah even using "complex" vectors (illustrator refers to paint brush vectors as "complex" and pen tool vectors as "normal" vectors) Complex vectors would technically save time but still, I wish I had time to use Pen tool for sharp, clear look.
-
@Twins: :P

@Ivan

You do a pretty good job of capturing the shows original style. Well done.

I still can't manage that style correctly. The more ponies I draw the more I seem to be leaning towards a more unique style that only I make

BTW: Have you ever thought about drawing all our OC's into a single image? Kinda like a Pony General family portrait ;) Doing something like that has been on my mind for a bit, I'm thinking of pulling it off.

@opspe

Hurry up, I'm almost to January 2nd!

Last edited Jan 01, 2012 at 02:14AM EST

Hm, I've never tried paint brush vectors before, but I've used the pen tool-based vectors a lot. Would you mind explaining the paint brush ones a bit? You can post on my wall or on DeviantArt or whatever. Cheers!

On another note, beer and movies are done, starting mead and loud music, with the possibility of ponies later. Not bad.

@Daniel: same for me, of course. I like not being the absolute last person on earth to reach 2012.

@BSOD and Ivan: I fully support the thread portrait idea. Up in Canada I have some sketches of that OC of mine from way back that I can provide once I get back there. I still want to work on improving it a bit, but I've been feeling distinctly uncreative since I got home for the break.

burning, it might be a good idea to write this in a Google Doc next time and just link us to it rather than typing it all up here.

Indeed, as I was typing that up, it came up to me that it was very long, I thought it would end up as two posts like the last one but it just kept getting longer and longer.

Future chapters will probably be in Google Doc format….however….

@BsOD:

Makes a good point, it's very easy to ignore a Google Docs link, but I think I've had my fun, any future chapters will be in Google Docs.

And please, mention the references, I threw a LOT in there. I like it when people see it.

@supermonday:

Thanks for the tip, I'm a technical writer more suited to writing reports and essays rather than stories so I'm completely unaware of the conventions of story writing. Hell, 90% of my library tends to be non-fiction as well.

@iambob:

Make an exception? (either an exception that you won't read every post or an exception to your no fanfics rule. Either way works)

I hate new years, I went out today at Noon thinking I'm free of the drunks before being cornered by a drunk elderly English man who wouldn't shut up and let me go get some lunch.
