As others have said, this thread used to be incredibly fast. We went though 200 pages in a month at its fastest point. However now things have settled down a bit.

Regard that not everyone here likes a fast paced thread. There are a few of us who want things reeled in a bit so we can have less spammy and more meaningful discussion. Also there's a whole collection of Bronies on this forum who never post on this thread because they find it too overwhelming.

We want them to join us so I guess we have toned things down just to make it more inviting. Nobody here cares if the other forums are faster…it's not like we are in some competition.

Yes, there is the "the biggger it gets the more it is hated" fact.

Also, I don't see that much hate against another famous OC, Little Pip from Fallout: Equestria. With a fanfic long like that, she must have had a pretty decent development then.

Well, the difference is "Fallout: Equstria" is actually good. Where as "Past Sins" is terribly terribly average "Fallout: Equestria" has quite a bit of respect in the fandom, even from people who don't generally like fanfiction (myself included).

Plus, "Fallout: Equestria" features an all FC cast, obviously the writer knows what their doing when it comes to character design if they're going to undergo that kind of task.

I mean, I probably wouldn't sit down and read the whole thing, but seeing Little Pip fanart doesn't give me the same bad taste in my mouth as seeing Nyx fanart.

I don't hate Nyx. Can't say I've read the story though, but then of course, can't say I've ever read Fallout: Equestria either though, basically on the sole point that I never played any of the Fallout games.

Besides, from what I did read on Nyx, she's a Nightmare Moon reincarnation, and that makes Me Gusta.

Considering Berry's "My body is ready" pose followed by nearly everyone else's obvious rape faces…that scene could be taken out of context very easily.

Looking through the Getting Crap Past the Radar page on TV Tropes again (first time in months). I've noticed how incredibly stupid some tropers are. They're trying to make everything seem like it's trying to slip stuff past the censors.

Sure, some of the stuff clearly was Getting Crap Past the Radar…
"Over a Barrel" has a scene where an old, worn-out (and blatantly alcoholic) pony is kicked out from Appleloosa's equivalent of a canteen. (He's had too much salt, ostensibly.)"

But some of this stuff… really?

Paste my avatar on a (old fashioned) TV, and have Random stand on top of it, if you think this is too … unsuitable.. Just leave me out of the portrait, I don't want anyone to go into so much trouble just so I can get an OC/FC.

A couple weeks ago, I would have said I wanted it to be less Twilight oriented, but after Sisterhooves Social, it seems like they may already be doing this.

He recently became a brony.
I actually let out an audible, flat "What."

I have an OC (a good one, I like to think), but I have no skill with art so I've never been able to get a clear picture of it other than in my head, sort of.

How does everyone else get theirs or whatever?

I don't read fanfics, ever. So that's clear (again).

From what I understood so far, the Past Sins and Fallout Equestria fans are two opposites. Not by person or something, but by taste in fanfic. Fans of Past Sins commonly tend to dislike Fallout Equestria and its fans, and visa versa.

To me from what I heard from others and reviews, both fics are of the same quality and level. So I won't give either fic or fanbase priveleges.

The first fanfic you (Connor) read after Cupcakes was Past Sins. Monday's first fic was Fallout Equestria. So that already places the two of you in different directions. It might not seem like a reason, but it's actually quite common. It's like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, enough like both, but everyone prevers one of the two.

As for Nyx, she might not be the most original character, but an OC's popularity is also related to the popularity of the fic. If Nyx was actually a yellow filly who's ability is shooting potatoes out of her but (someone make that), that character would become popular. Nyx just rode along with the flow of the fic and gained popularity through it. People who read the fic and loved it of course liked Nyx as well.

Another reason for the hate for Nyx might be jealousy. She's not that special, yet she gained a lot of popularity. This commonly creates tension. Like Gregory said: "The biggger it gets the more it is hated”.

No offense to the Fallout Equestria fanbase, but I wouldn't call Littlepip that unique either. The scenario just makes her look more special. Fun fact btw: The creator of Fallout Equestria helped me in adding the part about Littlepip to the Character Fandom article.

So yeah, both fics are of good quality overall. It's just the person who reads the fic that decides what fic is better to him/her.

I actually read Spideres all the way through this time.

And the part where the writing was comprehensible in the middle; there was much loling.

Could I maybe commission someone here who's more skilled with computers to design a cutie mark for my OC I put together using generalzoi's OC generater that I discovered via Google and I'm assuming the rest of you used?

I just want like the big dipper or something on a transparent .png if that's possible.

Totally agree with you about that tropes article. It's a perfect example of cartoon over-analysis. Also it seems more Skrillex fans are getting sucked into the show?

If you could change one thing about the show, what would it be?

I wish Discord was not defeated in one episode. I wish he won in Episode 2 of the second season

This would have left:
-A shattered main cast with a huge to-do list to complete episode-by-episode
-Discord as a recurring villain with a main role
-Celestia and Luna in a state of warfare
-A season-long quest with a grand finale to reach
-Many other new directions for show idea's

There's a reason why it took the route it did instead. But just imagine if the writers wrote a full length story and how the fandom would have taken that…

I've read Past Sins and I quite enjoyed it. I guess the plot is pretty generic but I enjoyed it. Maybe I'm just an uncultured cretin who will enjoy anything with ponies in it. I also understand why some people hate Nyx, I guess she is quite a Mary Sue. I haven't read Fallout Equestria though because I just couldn't be bothered. Maybe I should read it some time, a lot of people seem to think it's good.

Sorry, but I like the show the way it is now: a slice of life oriented series without a huge amount of continuity.
The idea of Discord winning is… kinda interesting, admittedly, but it just doesn't seem like it would work. It's basically just an extended version of the season premiere episodes.
Not to mention this would make the series a bit too dark for my tastes.
But that's just me.

Also, I was a Skrillex fan before becoming a brony, though I think that's just coincidence.

There's nothing wrong with the show the way it is now and I enjoy it the way it is, but in order for it to match my tastes more closely then a darker story with plenty of continuity and a set objective throughout it is precisely what I would do.

I guess you wouldn't want to watch my own version of the show but that's OK. Each to their own.

Consider the context of the word 'improvement'

In this case I am using it to refer to changes in technical/visual quality. I am purposely leaving the quality of writing and script out of the subject so I can talk about alterations of the plot, not because the plot needs to be taken in a new direction for the sake of improvement but for the sake of changing its appeal

Now here is the important part: By changing the shows appeal towards myself, it WOULD be an improvement to me personally. However I cannot claim it to be an improvement of the show overall for it would take the story down a route that would not appeal to others. Like you for instance. Such an impovement for me would be less of an improvement for you.

Unless it turns out you might like a story where the main cast have been given one single goal to complete throughout the season: Fighting back against a recurring villain that has taken over everything they hold dear
