What??

I am not that cruel!! If it pains you so much I'll change my name! I love all ponies.

@Verbose: Okay.

YAY! I kick-started a discussion! But in all actualality, in my opinion, I think doing topics like death or otherwise would feel more natural for a series for kids because it helps children learn more about life and ease them into reality. It also makes the characters of the show feel more connected to us, the audience.

This post doesn't seem to be about Trixie. Spread the Trixie love.

No, I am not, Aerostat. When have you ever seen me happy?

  • I'm always complaining about something.
  • I'm always finding bad stuff about anything or anyone's argument.
  • I just won't shut up about things, and I talk everything into the ground.
  • And I talk junk whenever you swerve to miss me when driving and hit a pole.

I'm just not a hap…

Haha heh…

I mean, I'm not happy. Cute pony gifs don't make me smile and don't make me want to share them with y'all.

Oh really? I think you're trying to hide it. You're happy.

@Verbose: On that first .gif of yours, I feel sorry to quote Jeffery Sherrard (I think) when I sing:

♫NERD FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT♫

♫THERE'S NO PHY-SIC-AL CON-TACT♫

I'll respond with Sheldon. (See what I did there?)

I guess whenever you started intentionally messing with late-traffic.

Also, HTML seems to work a bit better here.
Apparently not. I'm going to leave that there either way.

Oh, and Ponibooru seems to be OK now. I had trouble getting to it for a while, but I think it's up again.

You searched just "Trixie" on google images, didn't you?
Had you been around in the last thread you would have seen my bait and switch (I know that isn't the correct tactic, but its the closest I could think of) that someone took.

As for the Applejack's parents discussion:

Yay, it's not a flame war!
I, for some reason, have no headcanon for that. I usually think of them as gone, either dead or just far away.
There was a fic I read the first chapter of that said that Applebloom was adopted when SS and DT were teasing her. I didn't finish it, but I had a horrible feeling that there was incest involved in Applebloom's conception. But it also had a high rating so I doubt that was actually true.
(Sweetie Belle being Rarity's foal had more appeal for me, before Sisterhooves Social, that is.)

Why must you have a nice discussion in the middle of day? I just got over from a two week break when I was lurking this thread all day!

Because we can.

Gentlemen, I am disappoint.

I thought the two of you would be able to at least stay nice too each other and have a decent showdown. One where a person could drink a cup of tea without spilling anything.

But no, you two just couldn't do it. All those insults, that racism. Children were crying on the sidelines for god sake. You two even started to insult each other's mother. And then there's that mega insult, I don't even dare to repeat it. You two know what I'm talking about.

I'm sorry you guys, but this type of behavior is unacceptable.

This is me and Verbose right now:

Relating to AJ's parents…..My headcanon always had them being Johnny Appleseed types who were constantly moving around Equestria, spreading the joys of Apples to all peoples.

Johnny Appleseed (September 26, 1774 – March 18, 1845), born John Chapman, was an American pioneer nurseryman who introduced apple trees to large parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. He became an American legend while still alive, largely because of his kind and generous ways, his great leadership in conservation, and the symbolic importance he attributed to apples.

Can I join in on the friendship?

DAMNIT TO CELESTIA, you guys have caused confusion and delay! Why can't you two (or three) stop arguing and look at the colors or the rainbow because that shizz is pure unadulterated happiness right there. Lay off the poor beavers will u! SHHEEESSSHHHHH!!! you are creeps! Go away! We were having a good time until u showed up, JEEPERS!! UUUUUUUGHH!! Go have some coffee with cream or something! Becuase i tell u something this is a HAPPY PLACE!!!

… yes that was a Freakazoid reference.

Is it me or I should really start to get here sooner, because whenever I go check what I've missed, I start seeing some great discussions that went on (about 2/4 hours from the moment I start posting), but when I finally get the chance to reply (when I have something to reply), they seem to have already died out, and all I can do is just throw my two cents over the issue instead of properly talk about it at the moment, like I really like to.

< / rant >

But anyways, about AJ's parents, just because we've never seen them, it doesn't mean they are dead. Being abscent is not the same as being six feet under. As some have said, they might only be away and unable to raise their children for some reason yet to be revealed (or not). But if they are really dead and the show comes to talk about it, even in the slightest way possible, I believe it would be a great improvement. It's true that the new season has made the show more "mature", but canonically showing something like death in a cartoon stared by cheerful pastel coloured ponies would be just epic. Yes, it would cause a huge shit storm over about the content, but nonethless, it would prove once and for all that this cartoon has come to totally split from it's previous generations, and it will a great response for anyone who still believes that we watch just a kids show.

TL;DR: Death is serious bussiness, and if the show comes to deal with it, even in the lightest way, it would improve it a lot.

Just to warn you. It is grimdark (implied and shown) and has gore and shipping. But really, it is quite a powerful and undefineable little thing.

Me being grimdark like I am, I honestly think the Mane 6 are all fucked, and that five of them will be corpses and one a zombie by the end of the day.

Other than that, yeah… that was sad.

There's a guy on this site called Lego CUUSOO who wants Lego to make a theme out of MLP. (It's kind of like the Lego Minecraft Project, only with My Little Pony sets.) The guy's got some good ideas, but the entry isn't getting as much attention as you might like.

If anyone wants to help support this guy (it's not me, by the way) visit the link Here:

Two entire pages filled with massive walls of text…

Guys… I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!

To summarise and conclude what I obtained from that discussion I'll say that I would rather not believe that AJ's parents are dead as that headcanon will be rectally violated if AJ's parents actually do enter the show. We all know what happened when Rarity's parents showed up and revealed that don't live that far away and Sweetie Belle lives with them

I like the concept that they are simply distant travelers and that is no mystery to the Apple family, certainly more positive than being 6 feet under. They may even city dwellers as that might explain Applejacks affinity for city life when she was younger. I don't care what Faust says, I'm going with that.

As for having death in the show, well as many pointed out, it is by no means an alien concept in kids cartoons and its not like kids will suddenly get mortephobia from seeing it but with a show as light hearted as MLP, it simply would not fit. I agree'd with opspe's explanation on that matter. Yes the Lion King has a real tragic scene but this isn't the Lion King is it? This is freaking My Little Pony! Tragedy just doesn't really work in the series and critics will be quick to point that out.

If death is ever approached in the show, I hope that the aspects of tragedy and sorrow are minimized at best.

On the Family Portrait front, we are facing delays on the account of doing everything the hard way but we are still on track. Stargazer has informed me that the mark I made would blend into his OC's yellow fur so I made the necessary changes. Hows this:

This discussion makes me sad.

Now I miss my parents…

Eh, you grew up to be a drunken rapist and your sister is a pedophile, they couldn't be that great as parents.

Too harsh?

To be honest, I thought that fic was 'meh' at best. I've read my fair share of sad fics, and that one didn't quite cut it for me. Too short, not enough character/plot development, shipping for the point of shipping, and I didn't buy the situation at all. Real sad fics should put you in a bad mood for hours, or at least make you feel slightly bad at some point. These tend to do a good job of that:

Often the saddest fics are the ones where you don't see it coming. I've been reading an epic sci-fi fic called End of Ponies (yeah, the name sucks, but I promise it's good) and it really caught me off-guard recently. I can't explain what happens without spoiling everything, but there's a seriously powerful scene in there. I think it's the only time I've ever been reading and I've needed to step away from the text for a while to recover (SAM doesn't count).

From those, the only one I read was Bittersweet, and though I kinda saw the end coming, still managed to move me.

Guess a forum isn't the most receptive audience for a story. Shoulda guessed. Well, better start writing then, Equestria Daily here I come! (Better make it FiMFiction, they don't like my type at Equestria Daily.)

Damn you RandomMan… Even I know the sad behind that.

Hmm… seems I've managed to put the thread on a bit of a downer.
I know what'll help!

@Random
Dude… that's a low blow.

Gigatoast,
Check out this dude's profile!
Scroll to the bottom of the comments to see every rule of OCs (FCs) broken before your horrified eyes.

Friends with main characters. "Unique" eyes. Father was something from a fanfic.
Now that Nyx looks like a perfect character. (Yes, I have revised my opinion on her, she is a meh OC, not teh best, but not bad either IMO.)
