So yeah, been progressing on this whole epic poem thing, still in the concept phase though. Anyway, it's gonna be set around a few decades after the founding of Equestria, and how the three different pony types are still stuck in tension. On the other side of the world, the griffon settlements feel threatened by the newly formed nation and fear for their defense. The war starts after a series of conflicts break out over both sides, and it will focus on how the war unified a seperated nation, brought an era of prosperity and caused the downfall of many civilizations in the name of peace through conquering. Also, it will focus on Fighting Spirit (name pending) and the first six representations (representations, not wielders. Remember that) of the Elements of Harmony as they head to war and struggle with keeping their ideals. Still need help on the the rest of this "Proto Six" and their names. Also, where is the best place to post for prereaders and readers in general, I want feedback and criticism since this is my first major writing project since a 10 page essay :P. Anyway, if this post is tl;dr here's a pony

Yes Tavi is best pony. But das my 'pinion, not yer 'pinion.

You should talk to connor the brony. He's a pro when it comes to fan fiction.

My opinion: I absolutely love equestrian history (as I said in a earlier post.) If you pull this off I would very much like to read it. If you come up with a rough draft I'll give you feedback.

@Brownmane
Interesting stuff there, but I gotta say, I don't find humans boring at all. Between the great range of feels we can feel and all that we're capable of, alot of interesting shit can go down and influence us. On the surface, sure, we can all come off as as mindless automatons, but who's gonna feel comfortable getting all deep and shit in casual conversation?

I find women especially interesting to talk to. You'll never hear a guy get into some of the stuff they do because we're just not "supposed" to. Women are more likely to talk about things like what defines them. What they want to do with their lives. Their pasts. How they feel about things. Honest to god, I could listen to that shit for hours (and have, A.D.D and all). I love it.

…

Uh… no homo or anything, guise.

Also tried your thought exercise because why not, but I honestly couldn't imagine getting busy with a pony without laughing hysterically because for one, I don't find them sexy in pony form and I was all like "lol why would I even do this if I got the chance then" the whole time. Yes being attracted to something sexually only goes so far, but I think the same rings true about being attracted to a personality. Doesn't exactly close the species difference gap for me, either. And two, I started applying quotes from the show to their dialog and couldn't stop. My sides are on fire.

Also I see you guys were posting humanizations.

Love love love this one

Also love the one Zarathh posted.

I could probably pre-read it to, but I'm only one person, so I don't have the same capabilities as the sites do themselves.

If you need help naming the Proto Six, I can help. I'm good at naming ponies.

GODDAMN COLORS, ON THE OTHER HAND!

Ha. Yeah, anyway I could use help on the Proto Six and their names, but I also want people to post their OC'S so I can use it in the epic poem, be it pony, grifon, mule, hell even minotaur. I wanna use all the mentioned species in the MLPverse

How do I contact this Connor of the Bronies? And yeah I would like your feedback, you're in my list now. Besides I won't really get super cereal with this until school's out (about 2 weeks) since I am also doing this to keep myself busy from some serious
NO F*YAY*ING NEW PONIES!

withdrawal.(Withdrawal is a beyeeetch! let me tell you…) So yeah.

A minotaur named Gaston.

And he MUST have a musical number.

But, in all seriousness, I was screwing around with an idea for the Element-bearers that came after the Mane Six, and their names were Equinox (Generosity), Stalwart Vigil (Loyalty), Velvet Facade (Magic), Ginger Snap (Laughter), Warmheart (Kindness), and Starlight (Honesty).

Also, thinking of the characters in the Hearth's Warming Eve play could be useful. Pegasi sound like they have tougher names, what with Commander Hurricane being around.

You also have to consider the character's talents and job, and all of that good stuff. In the show, we have Shining Armor as a guardsman, Rainbow Dash as a rainbow-colored racer, Fluttershy as a shy mare with butterflies as her cutie mark (Lauren Faust you clever bitch!), and Princess Celestia as goddess of the sun.

It seems that logic is kinda thrown to the wind in that their names fit their talent.

…because steak's delicious, dammit.

And now…

What got me about this pic was how many possiblities could have led to this. Is she dead? Unconscious? Tired? Hurt?
The emotion as well… its great.

Sorry for the two posts in short time, but I found this relevant to earlier discussions

MFW:

A guy did it in Japan; haters' arguement is invalid.
You CAN date (and marry) fictional characters. (however, I am not sure if I'd like that written outside of the internet)

So Sethisto made an editorial on the fandom. Basically, it boils down to us bronies going from a very small group on the internet to a massive periphery demographic that is most likely the driving power behind the entire My Little Pony franchise. It's not very well-written, but it makes me think.

I've been feeling pretty weird about the state of the fandom. It's my estimate that we have, indeed, become an empire. Like the great United States of America, and the Romans before them, we have made a fatal transition. Once, we operated on the values of a republic; we sought to expand, and so we did, into every facet of the internet. We were small, and yet we prided ourselves on our meager accomplishments. We were watching a show for little girls, and slowly finding that was alright. Now, we have dwelled upon that for too long. The republic has, indeed, turned into an empire. We have come to expect, rather than be overwhelmed by, the exorbitant amount of content this fandom creates on a daily basis. When once we found each piece of art a gem, now we scroll past, perhaps making a crude joke along the way. When once we passionately discussed which pony was cutest, now we vulgarly discuss which one we'd like to fuck. Sethisto made a point about EqD's Fanfiction department becoming akin to a publishing company, and it's true, as only what can be held to meager, varied standards as "good" fiction, is accepted. We have changed, comrades. For the worse? For the better? It cannot be known.

I'll admit, there were some heated opinions in that last bit. Part of it probably extends from my own rejection from the Daily's rigid fic department. Maybe it's just my own pessimism consuming me. The majority of my qualms, however, extend from being under the thumb of a massive corporation (Hasbro). I've always been comfortable with the government having control over the things I love. Such is life. I'll have to start paying taxes in a few months, anyway, what do I care. What I can't stand, however, is the same power held by the corporation. To me, becoming a part of this fandom was difficult, in that I had to accept that every part of the show is made exclusively for corporate profit. The toys, especially, I had trouble adjusting to. But I swallowed my pride, because the show is just too good to pass up. I felt the bronies, with their origins in the cesspool of 4chan, subverted this somehow. Now, this fandom, too, has made peace with sucking on the corporate teat, and I've returned to my uneasiness. Don't get me wrong, I'm not leaving. I love this show, I enjoy the experience, and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I just wanted to express an opinion, and express it I have.

TL;DR: I think the fandom's changing, but whatever.

I think this has been posted, but it's cool, so I'll put it up again.

Still to early to decide but processing. Anyway I wanna make it clear, I want people to PM me or post their OC's on my wall, This thread updates too fast for my lazy-ass.

@Fridge:

Of course the fandom is changing. Things change with time, and things grow, as well. We've grown, which brought about the changes as we got more users and were more accepted.

Change itself isn't bad, and there were always people talking about screwing ponies (it started on 4chan, for fuck's sake), so there's nothing to fear. No matter how much we change, we will always be bronies, and therefore we will always be friends. Beyond that, there will always be the parts of the fandom that fit the original design for it.

I wouldn't say we're an empire, though. That's ridiculous. We're a fandom, not a nation, corporation, army, etc. We are a group of people that enjoy a similar thing and form together around it. That DOES sound like a form of government, coming to think of it, but that's beside the point.

You can say we grow, but that's not the same as going from a republic to an empire. That's going from a smaller republic to a larger republic.

As for your qualms with corporation…

I am disappoint.

That's it. There's nothing to fear from a capitalist organization. Especially one that gave a large amount of artistic freedom to the creators of the show.

I'm Connor the Brony for whoever was wondering. Send me a PM with whatever you wanna ask.

I was thinking that an interesting way to name the Proto Elements (as you're calling them) is as the name of the Element. Say that the words didn't exist before, but the names of the Elements eventually became the words ponies used to describe that trait. So magic's name would be Magic, kindness' would be Kindness, and so on.

P.S. I just wanted to let everyone know how much I've loved this page, and how much it reminds me of how it used to be. The perfect blend of TL;DR, image, stories, and everything else. Thanks, let's keep it up.

So you are this man they speak of. Anyway, as I have stated no they are not the first wielders of the Elements, they are representations, I called them the Proto Six because they represent the Elements of Harmony much as the Mane Six does. Just wanted to clarify.

You know, my other post with the fiction charcter wedding reminds me of the show Archer:

For those who don't know, the charcter Dr. Krieger has a waifu, a completely holographic and self-aware anime/magna character, whom he intends to marry (however, he says that state laws prohibit such marriages).
So… just to get that out there.

I have a suggestion for a new topic. If you could spend an entire day in Equestria (while you're a human) what would you do while you were there? And could you please give details?

[edit] I also found this badass RD artwork. Should it be my new picture?

Fairly sure this was a topic like, a page and a half ago?
Silly Zarathh.

And no. this should be your new picture.

@Iamslow

When I said humans are boring, I meant appearance-wise. In general, humans aren't terribly interesting to look at unless they've got deformities, scars or an elaborate getup. There's functionally little difference between human and pony on a intellectual and emotional level, so you'll get a similar conversation either way.

Guys can be just as interesting, you know. It's just that society breeds men to be secretive about their emotions and motivations in favour of appearing more "macho", so more often than not you'll have to carefully coax them into talking about the deeper stuff.

The whole point of the thought exercise was that it seems ridiculous at first. It's something you have to get used to. The idea is that you went through the exact same process with bog-standard sex back when you first learned about it, no?

@PopperFett

That's hardly to only case of such a thing happening. Nor is it the strangest, most likely. And it isn't an exclusively Japanese phenomenon. Just check out this woman for a second mind-blow.

Goes to show that love is a force that doesn't recognize such petty boundaries as gender, species, sanity or even reality itself.

@Fridge Logic

Well, I feel you're generalizing quite a bit there. It's true that each individual fanwork become less remarkable when there's an abundance of them, but the same goes for just about anything. If anything, it makes people work harder at improving their works so they'll stand out.

There's still plenty of innocent discussion about the show, you know. And don't pretend the indecent stuff is a new phenomenon, it's been there from the start. It's just a little easier to notice now that there's more people talking about it. How much you see of it kind of depends on who you're hanging out with, but it tends to be that the perverts are the minority. I should know, I'm one myself.

Well, the unfortunate fact is that basically everything is in some way tied to some corporation these days. It's only gonna get worse, too, most likely. But hey, there's ways to stick it to the man while still remaining strictly in line.

I'd say the show is actually trying as damn hard as it can to subvert and mock the whole consumerism aspect while still remaining on Hasbro's payroll. It's a careful balancing act, but they're pulling it off quite well if you ask me.

So the toys are a shameless money-maker, no question about that. But hey, it's not like most bronies even bother with them, what with being wildly off-model most of the time and all. And the usual reasoning is that by buying the toys, they're indirectly supporting the show, which is really all that matters to most bronies.

As long as the show stays intact, folks won't much care for all the politics involved. They're not worshiping Hasbro and their business practices, they're worshiping the show and the creative team behind it. There's quite a bit of a difference there, you know.

A guy did it (married a fictional character) in Japan; haters’ arguement is invalid.

Out of all of the battles to win, I don't think this is one of them, bro. I think that sorta helps their claims, so you may want to rephrase that.

Also, Tara Strong is faaaaaar from a hater.

@Fridge
I'm not sure the fandom is changing so much as it's just flirting with the sexualized aspects of it more for the lulz.

@Brownmane
I think I must have read too far into "humans are fuckin' boring!" My bad. I actually thought I was implying what your saying about guys there, though. I think being bread to be macho can be a good thing however because it feels great meeting the classic expectations of being brave and dependable.

Now everyone grab your insulin.

@Fridge Logic's assessment of the Fandom:

An interesting thought, what are my opinions of the fandom and whether it is changing or not?

Cosplay has changed…..

Come with me if you want to live.

I'd grab my crowbar if I were you.

New Topic: Best pony OC.

Mine recently became this one.
I never thought I'd say this about an OC and I certainly didn't expect a pony to give me these kind of feelings, but I'm getting this really strong urge to steal her.
Oh the unspeakable things I would do to her Original Design. I'm a bad bad man.

What was everyone's favourite song from season 2? My favourite was the one where Rainbow Dash tried to be a Canterlot big-shot and she sang about being popular. That was a great episode. Still can't figure out why her singing voice sounded like Rarity though.
