Well, I agree with the previous opinions. One of my pet peeves is a lack of respect, and I think doing something with an individual's work that they don't want to happen especially when you know of their wishes is blatantly disrespectful. I'll try to present the other side of the issue though. It's no fun to have one side of the issue being dominated in a discussion.
I think Ponibooru users find it disrespectful that artists choose Ponibooru specifically to single out. Somehow, /mlp/, Ponychan, KYM, EqD, and other sites are OK to post to, sometimes without a link. But even with Ponibooru's unspoken protocol to link to and tag artists' work appropriately, artists don't want their work there.
I don't think it's that they truly want to disrespect the artist. I think it's that they would have to accept their identity as a place that some artists think so poorly of, that they would turn away traffic and popularity to keep their art from being posted there. They'd have to think less of themselves as a community. I think it's more of the fact that they are defending themselves from what seems like (and in effect, is) a personal affront.Â

Related: Do you guys identify with KYM as part of the KYM brony community? I'm sure not all of you do, but I know some of you do. I certainly hail from here, and if I had to identify myself (and will in something I've been working on for months…) I'd say that I was from Know Your Meme before any other site.
Anyway, when Ponibooru users say that we're dumb (and they do,) I feel offended, because I identify a bit with KYM bronies. Ponibooru has a lot of smart users who like decent discussion. That's one reason I like posting there. And, no offense to the most recent remarks, they aren't so focused on the "love and tolerance" mantra as many in the comments here (and some in this thread) are. Sometimes (alright, most of the time,) I prefer to just talk about the show or the fandom objectively. I have made friends here, and that's great for me, because I don't have many friends where I currently live. But I just get irritated with the love fests sometimes. I just want to talk and post ponu, man.
Ponibooru offers that. Consistently.

However, I think Ponibooru is the most morally ambiguous userbase I frequent, by far. Granted, I only frequent three hubs for brony activity, KYM, EqD, and Ponibooru. More users there are certainly more aligned with the way of thinking that made me avoid posting online than are here and EqD. Cynical stuff that the world offers in reality, and they use that as a justification for their own beliefs as opposed to defying it for their own lives. They see no need to disadvantage themselves further given an already unfair world.
Personally, I feel more in the middle. I believe the Internet could use a bit more love and tolerance, but only because I want the 'Net to be pleasant to people. But I don't believe the world IRL is that way. However, I still see a lot of places that combine anonymity with that cynicism and you get places like…well, Ponibooru.
I'd prefer the 'Net to be a place of refuge from all of that as opposed to a place that exacerbates it.
Anyway, I'm digressing a lot. I think users on Ponibooru feel like they're being singled out. And they are, no doubt. However, I don't think that overrides the artists' wishes in a case like this.
Artz. Don't like humanized ponu?
Alright, fine.

@Muffins
I'd say start it in a couple of hours which would be sooner than I expected. Algernon is interested, so that will let him get more episodes in before it gets too late in (Europeland.) If others want to join later, then that's great too.
I probably won't be there if you start it now, but I'll be around in an hour or so.
