He's already a forum moderator. He actually has more site power than anyone with the word "Forum" in their title.

But yes, if you come here, you've got a good chance at becoming a moderator. But that's just because bronies are smarter than the average user.

So he needs a steady diet of Purple Smart, STAT.

On an unrelated note, yesterday I braved the eleven-year-olds and went into an MLP roleplay on Roblox. While I was looking for a Littlepip morph…

…oh, no… OH, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Blue, I'm sorry man, I'm sorry that you're being used by eleven-year-olds in frakking MLP roleplays full of angsty pasts and Mary Sues and FUCKING SONIC CHARACTERS.

But that’s just because bronies are smarter than the average user.

Is it paranoid of me if I'm worried that someone's going to come in and be angry because you said that?

So he needs a steady diet of Purple Smart, STAT.

"You called, motherfucker?"

@Jimmy: Honestly, going by the category and the others visible near BSOD, I'm guessing it's just random computer-themed ponies, and they picked him up due to representing the BSOD without any further knowledge regarding the character.

@Animation leak and such: I know it kinda goes without saying, but I REALLY hope this doesn't end with catastrophic legal BS and C&Ds and such. I'm particularly worried that she'll shut down Mixermike they way they did with Jan, because of his show-accurate style…

Yes, eleven-year-olds stumbled upon pictures of an OC of a mod of a little forum that barely has a dozen regular users…
Oooooor…

Perhaps you just stumbled upon BSoD's darkest secret!

@Crash
MixerMike should be fine, or at least he shouldn't be at any more risk than he was before.
The current hubbub is all about people repurposing those leaked assets and, while his characters do look very good, they are actually subtly stylized to the point that implies he created everything himself.
Just for an example:

Maybe it's just me, but I can distinguish his work pretty quickly when I see it.
I think he makes his eyes a bit bigger and his muzzles a bit smaller than canon, but whatever he does, it results in a distinct look.
And then Fluffle Puff herself is just off the wall.
Basically, I think there is enough evidence to suggest that MixerMike hasn't appropriated any of Hasbro's animation tools into his work so he should be fine on that front.
Nothing will stop the Puff!

(He is still using licensed characters without the permission of the IP holders so that angle is still potentially open, but his work is probably considered 'transformational' enough that he would be protected by Fair Use.)

More PurpleSmart being smart:

What the actual fuck?

I don't know what roblox is. I have never played it. From my recent google search, it looks like some minecraft clone. Yea, not the kind of game I touch unless it involves rocket launchers and brutal murder. I certainly did not put it up there.

Maybe Alex Mercer plays roblox. Because that's his vector of my OC. Not actually one of mine. But I doubt that.

If this is some kids game, I find it several layers of fucked up that my OC is there (especially in that pose) knowing that we're talking about an incredibly slutty and hypersexual character. I hope the kid never finds out what that blue horse gets up to

Using 'Blue Screen of "Death"' instead of 'Blue Screen (of Death)' is an extra layer of fucked up in itself but I think it goes to show that whoever put it up there does not know me. Probably the result of my OC appearing in Derpibooru (where it is actually getting a reputation), then found by some random who then decided to add it to a collection of software themed horses in Roblox

@Fifths: Oddly enough, that sounds more fitting for the way Blue portrays the character now, it would seem.

@DeadParrot: Well, that's definitely a relief then. Can't say I ever spotted that, so thanks for pointing that out (I don't tend to spot stuff like this, but I've detected at least one style quirk like that for a different artist).

Pictures unrelated:

(I find it amusing that they had Applejack's three stages of life together like that)

@BSoD appearing in a children's game

Oh, um, I guess they just googled "blue screen of death pony" and that was the first image they saw. I don't think there's anything to worry abou-

Probably the result of my OC appearing in Derpibooru (where it is actually getting a reputation)

Wait. What? You're famous now? What the fuck, man? You were supposed to be special! It's only a matter of time before KYM becomes the hipster website that says "I wanted to cum inside Blue Screen before it was cool." You were never supposed to leave this website. I feel like we've been robbed. I'm gonna go cry now.

Regardless, have Andy Price being a magnificent bastard:

so thanks for no one complaining about my posting amateur footage of a yeti bellowing its mating call to the pony forum. :)

Wait, I thought EVERYONE did nothing but play their mating call on the pony forum…….Thank you thank you I'll be here next week.

@worst episode discussion

I meant to reply to this earlier, but I thought my least favorite episode would be one of the Applejack ones that I didn't even bother watching all the way when they first came out.

Well to my surprise I finished watching them recently and I was wrong – my least favorite episode is still Crystal Empire.

I usually feel kinda crappy about being hard on the show, but I watched this episode 3 times and I can't help but hate it.

I think a big problem with these episodes is that the crystal ponies are so boring. Sure they're supposed to be sad sacks without the crystal heart powered up but it goes beyond that. Not only are they drab husks throughout most of the Mane 6's adventure, the crystal ponies (with exception of the librarian) all shared from a pool of like only 3 cutie marks that were used over and over again.

This was pretty disappointing to me considering how unique looking background ponies can be and how only the librarian got characterization (if you could even call it that).

Twilight's little song and dance with Spike towards the beginning was kinda unnecessary. It was already established that she was worried about Celestia's test at the very beginning of the episode and while it was nice I couldn't help but think that time could've been better spent.

Sombra was a pretty boring villain to start a new season off with (he was kinda like watching a shark behind glass most of the time) and it's also odd to me that they didn't just have Shining Armor powering the barrier that was keeping him out of the Crystal Empire from the beginning considering we can surely assume his cutie mark means his special talent is protecting ponies with magic like he did in Canterlot Wedding (and that he probably would have been better for the job). Instead he got his horn all messed up like 8 minutes in. You'd think the Crystal Empire would have had guard ponies before Equestria Girls who could have handled scouting and recon missions.

The evil door thing kinda also struck me as a waste of time (and even more so when they dragged Spike into it) because again, we already knew Twilight doesn't wanna let Celestia down.

To summarize I think the Crystal Empire episodes could have been better if we at least met a couple more unique and characterized crystal ponies along the way and they omitted some unnecessary things to allow more time for a more satisfying adventure.

I liked a couple of things about this one though. It did give us special eyes

and Rainbow Dash nomming corn.

But I actually liked more about Equestria Girls. So to me the Crystal Empire is definitely worst.

Guess what time it is!

If you guessed "another round of the never ending shitstorm that is copyright/trademark infringement" you'd be correct. It's hilarious how fast EQD goes from "Hasbro's great!" when there's a new toy to "Hasbro's the gestapo!" when there's more copyright fighting.

I'm starting to get tired of this shitstorm. It's the same thing every time. There's Youtube tomfoolery, people get their jimmies jostled, Hasbro's evil, copyright/trademark law needs reforming, everyone forgets about it, and then it kicks up again.

I'm still waiting for Fimfiction to get targeted, then the real shitstorm can begin.

Really, when it comes to youtube copyright claims it can't even be guaranteed that it was Hasbro's doing. The system is a thousand ways fucked up and fake claims go through all the time. It could be Hasbro, but if it was I honestly don't care all that much. The video is still up, the content creator just isn't getting monetization, which sucks but isn't the end of the world in my eyes. And these little monetization claims have been rampant in pony videos for months now, we're really caring now?

You know I've had to draw hundreds of those twirly bastards in my life and not one of them has ever come out looking right.

Oh right, I nearly forgot.

This better?

@new short

Okay seriously, who is the motherfucker that keeps making these things? I believe that this short, along with the Vinyl Scratch one, displays a profound level of artistic insight on contemporary modern experience. Where the standard mlp episode is satisfied with reproducing old as dirt ideologies concerning the nature of social relationships, this new short has, through visuals alone, managed to really hit on the nature of social relationships and friendship in contemporary western culture.

In order to understand this short, we need to observe how profoundly ironic it is. It is a music video which is dedicated to the idea of friendship and people coming together and yet is visually chopped up like a goddamned onion. From the very beginning, we see the title being made up from words contributed individually by the girls' separate phones, and the opening of the animation proper is composed from three separate scenes laid side by side. The entire animation is based around this idea of the separate groups of girls using their smartphones to coordinate their navigation of the theme park.

The new social reality that this animation acknowledges is that, even as technology enables us to stay constantly in touch with each other and communicate with people we would never have been able to know before, we are also paradoxically becoming more and more isolated. Speaking from personal experience, the internet has given me friends all across the world, but at the cost that I'm a bit of pariah when it comes to my local community. I've never even met my neighbors, but I've done musical collaborations with people on the other side of the world from me.

The thing is that these relationships that are chiefly mediated by technology are fundamentally different from those facilitated in physical space: My relationships in real life are based in the highly articulate medium of the spoken word ad gesture, and they are founded on a concrete base of real possibilities and real actions: I may one day sleep with this girl I'm chatting to now, and this burly man might knock my lights out if I say the wrong thing to him. More technologically based conversations are based on a bunch of abstract symbols that just don't have the same nuance or weight that a real life conversation has. These internet relationships lack the weight of the traditional ones, and this applies to some extent as well to hybrid friendships (people who might know each other in real life, but carry out half their conversations via text message and facebook)

This animation addresses the anxiety one feels in having a hundred people on your friend list and not one of whom you would be able to call on in an emergency. It is all about trying to make our new tech-mediated relationships have the same weight as the traditional ones, and it does this by trying to mythologize and enrich the abstract symbols which are the medium of those relationships. Notice how the text messages that the girls keeps sending to each other are all very emotive and visually appealing (as opposed to the soulless Times New Roman font which is the stuff of real text messages) The animation is trying to enrich our texting by giving a romanticized depiction of how it can be used to facilitate good times with friends in the theme park.

This video is all about trying to come together in a world that is essentially fractured. Notice all the shots where this agenda is made explicitly clear (separate frames being unified to create a whole, separate camera phones being used to take separate pictures of the one happy group, etc.) It is a video that tries to show us how we can escape from our text-isolated bubbles and come together to perform shitty pop music!

@EqG
I haven't watched a single one and have no intention to. I'll watch EqG 2, based on the premise that I was able to suffer through Pokemon's dub switch, so I can suffer through more horrid preteen garbage--but I'm not going to expose myself to any unnessasry risks.

I haven't decided on Equestria Academy yet. I think I'll probably opt out and focus on The Lion Guard and that Filly Funtasia show instead.

You don't need to reference that meme here. We aren't like Youtube Bronies who would downvote your comment into oblivion. We downvote people's comments into oblivion for other reasons. What Reasons you may ask? Shut up, we're not telling you.

@Vazquez

I can't find it now but that reminds me of that one theory pic that compares Twilight's parents to Trixie and suggests they could be sisters.

Now if Trixie was Luna's secret apprentice and Twilight's sister…

that would be cool as fuck imo.

Okay… Sounds like we're two degrees away from segue-ing into a discussion on Princesses… So let's fast forward…

So, Twilight Sparkle is now the "Princess of Friendship", despite the fact that we probably all thought she was supposed to be like… The Princess of Magic.

Symbolically, its not totally uncalled for… After all, how else does one unite the Princesses of Light and Dark into Twilight if not through Friendship?

(Excuse the caps heavy in that last sentence.)

Though… We already had Cadance as the Princess of Love as a thing, and some had previously said that as a companion to that, Twilight being the Princess of Friendship would make sense, as both would be associated with the bonds between two or more people/ponies.

…And now with all that build up… Its time to ask… Why is there less importance placed on the individual here?

If the "most powerful forms of magic" are born when two or more hearts connect… Then what about one heart? Or several hearts that aren't yet connected?

I suppose at this point the next step is to hyperbolically ask "where is the Alicorn Princess of the Soul?" or "where is the Alicorn of the Self?"

… Though, its also worth mentioning that a hypothetical "Alicorn of the Soul" would probably still place a lot of importance on friendship. After all, how you feel about others is as much a part of who you are as anything else, and following your heart towards a friendship with someone is a very positive experience.

Erm… Perhaps framing the disscussion I want to have in terms of Alicorn Princesses is a terrible idea…

Anyways, the real question worth asking is… Does the show place enough emphasis on the importance of one's own feelings or identity? And if not… Then why do you think that is?

I'm just gonna put in my two cents and take a guess to say, it's probably because, as the subtitle says this show is all about the "magic" of friendship. As a result they might be underselling the importance of the self, the problems with having friends and the solitary nature of some individuals (like myself) to hammer the point home. Which could be something to work on in future seasons, but I could be totally wrong too.

On a sidenote, I was having a discussion in the image gallery regarding this picture:

Can anyone identify the girl on the left? In the comments, we couldn't figure out it was Carrot Top or R63!Braeburn and I couldn't find it on Derpibooru to confirm for sure so any help with that would be handy.

@crash

It's r63 Brauburn.

a) The apple necklace is a dead giveaway
b) The hair more closely matches the style and color of Braeburn
c) Carrot Top is almost never shipped with Big Mac, but you know who always is.
d) Anyone who is gay for Braeburn knows how enthusiastic he is about tight skimpy panties
e) Only Braeburn could be that sexy.

Everyone is gay for Braeburn. Everyone.

Except me, it seems.

All this Braeburn

So lets discuss Braeburn then

On a scale of gay to gay, just how gay would you say you are for braeburn?

Also what do you think it is about this guy that just makes him radiate gay? How did we get to "everyone is gay for Braeburn" Could it be the design, the character? Or just a lack of other characters in the fandom that the gay part of it could use?

Perhaps it's the design. I mean look at him. Long mane and tail, small body, kinda looks like a mare except for the face but it still looks cute, sexy leather vest. It's hard not to be brae for Gayburn.

Has someone seen the stuff that's being published on Derpibooru? Mostly, I've been seeing Spike shipping, plane ponies and, well that's it… What is up with the fandom?

Two Words, Pony Hiatus.

This is always the weirdest/worst time for the fandom as it leads to some weird stuff, or it turns into "We have no pony so WE MUST START CONTROVERSY RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!" Cause let's see, last hiatus we had the Anti-Twilicorn thing, the Anti-Equestria Girls, Down with Molestia, the C&D's. Fuck, that was Class 5 controversy there. But we don't have controversy right now so instead we get the weird, NOW EMBRACE THE WEIRD

@Braeburn:

I already mentioned this when I watched his first episode a while back, but I like to imagine Braeburn being straight, basically to screw with stereotyping.

(Rainbow would actually probably be the best choice for him IMO though)

@Derpy
The conclusion:

@Braeburn
Everyone is gay for Braeburn.

Even those who are straight for Braeburn are gay for him.

Hey, guess who posted ponies again?
<div class=spoiler title="Spoilered because it technically has gore…">

It was quite an odd experience to be sort of watching this episode while messing around on a game.
I did a pretty major double-take when I heard 'I used to wonder what friendship could be!' suddenly blaring out of my TV.

Huh, didn't Colbert say something a while ago about not wanting to make any more brony references? I could be remembering things wrong.

In 2011, Colbert gave "a big shoutout, here, out there, to all my bronies who may be watching." and he did it again, in a future episode. In 2012, he finally researched what bronies are, and in an April 2012 episode, he opened with "I want to very specifically not give a shout out to my Bronies tonight. I feel like I have been sucked into a dark corner of humanity, and am crawling my way back to the light."

Please note that Colbert plays a character on his show. We don't know his true thoughts on the fandom.
