"Meritocracy" is a noble word describing a noble goal, that has unfortunately been perverted by people who cannot or will not recognize obstacles to achieving that end, opting instead to believe we have already achieved it. As a result, equality of opportunity remains tantalizingly close, yet just out of our reach.

I dont really like Marvel, both as a movie junkie and a mild comic fan. Three of my favorite superheros (Panther x Storm, Night crawler) is from their universe but pales in comparison to my absolute fave in the DCU (Static Shock with John Stuart in second place).
And uhh, basically the movies feel the same to me after a while (looking at you Avengers), like setup delivery stringing the same story along to setup for another while watering down the integrity of the film as a standalone work. Additionally, i think they could switch it up some? I'm not sure how to express my discontent with that, its a bit out of my reach on the technical aspects, but i stand firm in that opinion.
Besides all that, Hollywood in general would do well to back off the nostalgia/gimmicks, pump new blood into the industry (ideas & talent), stop making mediocre at best children films, and for the love of God, please mix traditional fx with cgi, it goes a long way TRUST ME.
People not doing the speed limit or higher in the carpool lane on a five-lane interstate should be ran off the road tbh
They're ruining my 95 mph streak

The worst thing about Deviantart is the titles people give to their submissions. If it was just shitty art with no title, it would be much more ignorable when looking for anything actually decent. Words stick in memory longer than images do.

Jaune from RWBY is a boring character. Not bad, just vapid. He's mostly dependent on other people and is way too normal-ish for a show like RWBY. Also his weapon of choice is pretty stupid (a medieval sword and sheild? Are you kidding me?)
Speaking of medieval swords, one of my pet peeves is the usage of medieval melee weapons in futuristic or even modern world. Keep in mind sword has to be like a normal sword, not something like Monado. Light Saber or Scissor Blade. Most of it comes due the fact that guns or lasers have a massive advantage over swords and such.
Another one for RWBY is that I don't think the show itself is that dark at all.Yeah, Volume 3 gave us many shocking things, but does the show really deserve extra grim(m)dark fanart (to the point of Wehrmacht and SS references)? No, I don't think so. I know there's nothing to do about it just like R34 but it really needs to cease with so much edgy fanart
On a serious note, I really want people to stop making death threats or typing words such as "kys" and such. There is a chance that target may have been facing some serious issues in his/her/their life and it could seriously affect the person. So think before you post.
Despite the fact that there's a good chance he won't win against Hillary, I still support Bernie Sanders. People who call Sanders supporters stupid and foolish for still supporting him when he's losing and overall shame them for being positive and supportive of him are cynical fucks who aren't as "smart" as they think they are (cynical =/= smart). People should support and vote for candidates because they support them regardless of whether they win or lose, not because they're winning.
Team-based FPSes are getting really old now (even though I'm interested in Overwatch).

They actually changed the layout to not show titles unless you mouse over them, like, a day after I posted this.

As abhorrent as the San Jose protesters' conduct was, Trump supporters shouldn't get their hopes up that this will translate into scaring people into voting for Trump.

I don't think the increase of sexualization in media is a problem. I think the real problem is a widespread fear of sexuality. Even though Zardoz is a dumb fucking movie, there is one quote from the film which I think sums up public standards very well:
"The gun is good. The penis is evil."
The public is growing more and more desensitized to extreme violence both in media and in real life because we see far too much of it. A man getting shot is no longer tragic to us, just an everyday occurrence.
In my opinion, the world would be better off if we ended our tolerance for violence and developed a newfound appreciation for sexuality and the human body.

The Europeans have the right idea in that regard.
Building on that topic: I think that although children consuming violent media in and of itself does not inspire them to be violent, it desensitizes them to violence during their formative years, which can encourage kids with antisocial tendencies to act out. For this reason, parents need to take responsibility for teaching their kids empathy and consequences, as well as the line between fantasy and reality.
Like many other fans of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, I was a little sceptical of Aisha Tyler hosting the revival of the show, and she made a kind of mediocre first impression in the first few episodes. However, she soon became my favourite host after she got used to her role and the performers started to pick on her. She is really enthusiastic, made funny jokes, often fought back against her bullies instead of taking the abuse like Drew, and even occasionally took part in the games. The only thing I didn't like about Aisha was her laugh.
Contrary to popular belief, Drew Carey actually does a damn thing, as he gets to play a game at the end of the show. Clive Anderson is the one who truly doesn't do a damn thing, and the only times I have seen him leaving the desk are when he picks a member from the audience.
Pan-Pizza/Rebeltaxi can get pretty cringeworthy at times.
People who compare Overwatch and Battleborn are idiots, as they're both different games despite being FPSes.
Loss Edits aren't funny, and are pretty annoying.
I've grown to dislike Hotdiggedydemon, especially his Pony.MOV cartoons.
To me, the politically-incorrect crowd comes off as equally annoying as the politically-correct crowd.

I remember Pan saying something like "I want Raven to finger my bloody mouth", once.
I love Pan, but that was terrible.
I don't like Overwatch
I hate Hayao Miyazaki films, i find them boring
Jojo part 5 Is terrible
Pokemon Gen 4 Sucks
Ocarina of time is terrible and bland
I really really wish people would stop treating E3 like it's some damn competition, or acting like "performance" one year will be an indicator of the next one. If that was true then by that logic every single Sony conference past E3 2006 should have sucked hard, but barely any of them did.

As much as I regret this thread, I gotta get this off my chest:
I really, really, REALLY dislike Dark Fantasy games. I dislike how much attention is given to them and other similarly dark, gritty, and hopeless games because of how, imho, they completely defeat the purpose of playing a game. I wouldn't have fun playing Dark Souls or Bloodborne or Witcher or some other game where everything is miserable, nobody is the good guy, etc. because I have nothing to look forward to, nothing to feel satisfied about outside my skill, nothing to really have fun with. When I play shit like GTA or Pokemon or Fire Emblem, I feel a definite progression toward something better (I'd much rather have only Trevor Philips running around instead of people like Steve Haines and Merrywether running the show and making everything Hell). With Dark Fantasy and overall just dark and hopeless games I… well, the imp sums it up for me here.
I don't get it why peoples considered Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green the best Pokemon remake. I actually thought Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green is rather weak.
Obviously, Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green doesn't have that many glitches compare to the originals, but it still retains most of the problems that the original games have.
And most of the additions to the rermakes are terrible. Who even liked Sevii Island? Or the fact that Pokemon such as Golbat and Chansey can't evolve until the player obtains the National Dex?

I think Ghost Town is a terrible song. At first it starts as decent, but it nosedives to awful after the lyric "My heart is a ghost town". How deep is your love gets the same treatment.
Shut Up And Dance is also getting on my nerves. It's not bad, but it's really annoying.
I dunno, I just can't stand those generic dance songs
After replaying both, I feel that Oblivion is in many ways a better game than Skyrim.
I find it useless to complain about Rule 34 of franchises like Pokemon when virtually all franchises in existence are bound to have Rule 34. It would be foolish to infringe on the artists' freedom of expression all because of "muh childhood!" Besides, I have heard instances where the creators are totally fine and are not actively cracking down on Rule 34 of their works. Considering how much fans worship creators, opposing them would have resulted in a shitstorm.

Arguing that easy access to firearms had nothing to do with the Orlando massacre is as dumb as arguing that fundamentalist Islam had nothing to do with it.
The same can be said for arguments that one or the other was the ONLY cause.

I dislike nerd culture, mostly because of the large amount of self-pitying and promotion of negative character traits that goes on. Although that may just be the internet and not nerd culture as a whole.
I've warmed up to Clinton.
Origin isn't the spawn of Satan that people make it out to be.
Related to what TripleA9000 said, nerd culture needs to stop pitying itself and promoting negative character traits. For a culture that dislike the image of nerds being portrayed as unfit losers who live in their mothers' basements and will never get girlfriends, they sure love to reinforce it by frequently making jokes about how they're similar to that, or how they can't get girls. If they keep thinking they'll always be losers who will never get girlfriends, then they'll end up that way; in other words, a self-fulfilling prophecy (much like cynicism in general). If nerds started having positive views on themselves, they would be able to get rid of this crappy image instead of reinforce it.
If you have a problem with someone saying "thoughts and prayers," please, please go fuck yourself. You don't have a good point. You are just a shitty person.
I don't get it why Korean songs are getting ridiculous popular nowadays. That again…

I only have a problem when people think they are legitimately helping people by saying that.

If elected, Trump won't be a one-term president, he'll be a one-year president.
Apparently saying the brain is an organ and not a muscle is an unpopular opinion, so there's that.
Ryumaru Borike wrote:

Well, that's most people who say that. "Thoughts and prayers" implies the speaker is religious and actually does think prayer can help people on a spiritual level. Religious people pray for all sorts of stuff. Why not add victims of a recent catastrophe to the list? Saying your "thoughts and prayers" are with someone is just a way of giving consolation, and if the victim happens to be religious, they will feel good that someone is praying for them. You'd have to be a hardcore ashole to get bent out of shape over that.
"I see your arm is in a cast."
"Yes. I got in a car wreck."
"I'm sorry."
"Fuck you! 'Sorry' isn't going to pay my medical bills!"
I already regret looking through the Gamergate thread. This isn't the first time I've bashed Gamergate, and it probably won't be the last. I also hate both sides equally.
Moving on from that (and I really do want to), I'm not fond of in-game economies that exist in games such as TF2 and CS:GO. Eventually, you'll realize how dumb you are for wasting money on in-game stuff, let alone the insanity of how ridiculously expensive some of said items are priced.
2016 hasn't entirely been a shitty year (though if Hillary Clinton becomes president it could easily become terrible; seriously, Trump is better than that corrupt liar). At least, it's been great for gaming, with great releases like Doom 4 and Overwatch, although there were some pretty bad games like Mighty No. 9. E3 2016 was great as well.
This has probably been said (hell it may not even be that unpopular), but I'm not a big fan of this mentality that "neutrals are just people on their moral high horses who have nothing to do but complain" because it just doesn't apply to everything that exists out there. For example, when it comes to certain situations related to SJWs and Anti-SJWs, I kinda want to stay neutral because not only do I want to hear what both sides have to say and absorb their arguments and also not fall into both sides' respective echo chambers/hugboxes/circlejerks, but also because I feel like this sort of mindset promotes this sort of black-or-white thinking, as if once you have an opinion on something, you're automatically for or against that, as if there is seemingly no grey area.
i've got an incoming REALLY unpopular opinion so stay tuned:
I HATE TOM!
I HATE DICK!
I HATE LARRY!
THEY DRIVE ME TO DRINK!
I don't like RWBY Chibi.
I don't necessarily dislike it, either, but I don't enjoy it much, or eagerly anticipate watching it like I do non-Chibi RWBY. The whole thing is just a shallow gag series that has none of the plot or world building I watch RWBY for. Nothing particularly interesting ever happens in the show; it's just endless vignettes that go nowhere. I'd much rather Rooster Teeth work on the actual show instead of trying to appease people who think vanilla RWBY has gotten too dark.
On the same RWBY-related note, I don't buy that Summer or Penny are dead in the show proper. Summer "died" before the series began and they never found her body, so she's absolutely guaranteed to be alive. Penny, meanwhile, "died" abruptly with no resolution to her character arc, and in a situation where she could be brought back with little issue (she's a robot, people!), so there's a fairly good chance she'll come back in a different body.

I can understand not liking RWBY Chibi. I mean, there's just not that much to it. I think of it like Attack on Titan Junior High or Evangelion @ School. Just a little treat to keep tide us over until new serious material comes out. With Penny, I'm pretty sure they aren't done with her. Otherwise, they wouldn't have had that shadowy shot of her father. Still, I think her "death" was an effective way of symbolically bringing the show in a more mature direction. They chopped the most childlike character on the show in half! And Summer…yeah, she's got to be alive or turned into a Grimm or something. It will be the least surprising character reveal in the show. Unless they're pulling some reverse psychology on us and she really is dead. At this point, it's hard to predict what is going to happen.
I have stated this unpopular opinion before, but the subject is so massively popular that I just felt the need to express it again:
I can't stand oversized breasts; they are more likely to turn me gay than to turn me on. Small or flat chests are what I prefer, but unfortunately, finding those instead of large breasts in fanart is about as likely as finding diamonds instead of rocks.

I'm the same with basically any anatomy, if it's bigger than what's usually reasonably possible then it just looks completely retarded to me and I can't take it seriously.
Looks like the two people above me better avoid my image gallery at all costs.
But getting back on topic:
People who want Valve to bring back flash sales during the Summer Sale period really need to realize not everyone is a jobless nerd who sits at their computer all day (…like me), and that people missed those flash sales very often. I actually think TotalBiscuit said it best: flash sales were needlessly stressful bullshit, and in some ways were also pretty "anti-consumer" when you think about it. It's better to just keep the sale price consistent the entire Summer Sale so you know from day 1 what you want to buy, and you can just get it out of the way early.

SJWs and the Alt-right are both unknowing puppets of the elite used to divide and conquer middle and working class people.
Overwatch isn't a bad game, but it's not worth it's price.

Speaking of the elite and SJWs…
Instead of focusing on social issues, liberals (and not just SJWs) need to focus on what is FAR more important: fighting income inequality.
Democrats today (especially older ones who support Hillary) disappoint me, as they are too centrist, cynical and complacent when it comes to economic issues (ex. income inequality), yet will immediately fight for social issues when needed. They might as well be Republicans who aren't aware that they are Republican (except when it comes to social issues). Good thing I'm not a registered Democrat.
I hope Democrats get punished for choosing Clinton over Sanders with a Trump presidency… even if it screws me over. Well, maybe that's too harsh…

I honestly don't like the constant mocking of non binary people that seems to be perpetually in vogue on KYM and pretty much everywhere else. I'm not nonbinary – I'm a very cisgender person – but I honestly don't see any harm in saying that you don't wish to be a man or a woman, except in the reactions from others. I've personally met nonbinary people IRL and they're not the one-note stereotypes that most people see them as, but really interesting and fun people who would fit right in on this site aside from the /pol/tergeist infestation in the comments sections. I'd even go so far as to say that other kin are just as harmless, and if anything, it's usually a coping mechanism for a personality disorder rather than an obsession with attention.
Some other unpopular miscellaneous opinions: I think personally that "TIGGRRDD!!!1!!" jokes are not just all-around unfunny and repetitive (and increasingly desperate) but reduce actual psychological trauma to a shitpost meme joke (triggers are, in fact, a real life psychological concept for things like PTSD and anxiety disorder). Moreover I find the anti-Tumblr circle jerk annoying, as if it's a monolithic pit of aggressive teenage feminist bloggers who all uncannily resemble a rainbow of technicolor haired Big Reds (though I might be somewhat biased, owning a Tumblr account myself). Don't believe me? There is a blog there called "Females Exposed" which is basically theRedPill as a Tumblr blog, and porn is extremely easy to find, not to mention that several prominent media personalities own accounts regardless of gender or hair dye. But maybe that might have to do more with the fact that KYM seems to have been occupied by rival site 4chan since GamerGate. I find several commonly mocked feminist Internet personalities to be pretty reasonable people that I agree with more than not. To me, the term "friendzone" implies that a person not returning affection is doing so on purpose out of spite. And finally, can we find some better and less cliche responses to lewd images than "dat ass", "lol I came" or that one sweat wiping reaction image please?
And that's about it. But then again I'm an impressionable teenager so these opinions may be subject to change. Bet you thought I was lying when I said I was an in-the-flesh SJW Tumblrina, didn't you?

I honestly wish I was a corporate shill, because with that money I'd be able to retire early and draw OCs all day.
I feel like the hype surrounding Overwatch is making me want the game less, especially considering Overwatch images take up a large percentage of the top image gallery at the moment. And I've wanted to play Overwatch for a while.
Speaking of which, any overly hyped thing (ex. Undertale, Steven Universe, Overwatch… notice a pattern?) that has been greatly hyped by everyone, including the KYM community, and hogs the majority of images on the top image gallery tends to annoy me and makes me like it less. But hey, I'm probably just whining too much about it.

After a bit of reading, I see that people who are worried about cultural appropriation actually make some valid points. For example, art and pop culture may sometimes misrepresent or carnivalize certain ethnic groups, intentionally or not.
That being said, I believe that in this modern, global world, a culture or a group that can't or won't willingly contribute to the mass consciousness (and perhaps make profit while doing so) will get culturally exploited sooner or later, and by then it may be too late for protests. Discussion is good, but protests are of jealousy and regret, not pride.
"Controversial" humor builds more bridges than walls. When the majority laughs at racial (etc) caricatures, who's to say that they aren't sometimes laughing at how much they have in common with all the different minorities?
Vanilla Ice is the true king of gangsta rap.
