Good entry. Anyone can easily understand what this fad is.

However, those videos' viewcounts are based on its visual resources' popularity on NND. And many NND users are basically teenagers (and cherry boys) who love such silly sexual joking. These videos' popularity are supported by those idiots. I don't think it's notable so much.

This was simply mashup of original fukkireta and vocaloid song "world's end dancehall". Other videos are just imitating this video. And the amount of related videos on NND are only 50.

I think it's too small even to be called a sub-meme.

Sorry to be too severe on you, mona_jpn. The comment I posted wasn't just for you to respond to, but also others like Tomberry. I posted it, because there is a lack of mention of the Hissu Amoto San meme in the entries for "Kirby's Gourmet Race" and the "Kirby Falcon Punch" remix memes, because of it triggering them, just like what you said.

Of course, certain "soon-to-be memes" becoming popular by colliding with another meme or two. Chargeman Ken for example became popular after its trigger MAD used the RED_ZONE meme. "Jack Black on Sesame Street / Octagon", another example, was triggered by the "bloomin' X" meme.

I brought the Hissu Amoto San topic back up, because I am planning to rework the entry to better quality, as well as to find out if there are any sub-memes that should be added to it.

Anyone know of something called Hakata salt, and a meme somehow connected to it? As far as I can tell, it involves a antrhomorphic version of the salt dancing to a remixed version of this line from the adverts.

While my old laptop/notebook is now messed up enough for me to be unable to use it, I am no longer able to use certain things I installed in it, like PhotoShop 7 for example. It was all because of a recent thunderstorm that cut the power and cable off at my home. When I turned my laptop back on, the keyboard no longer works, while even before the storm, the laptop keeps warning me that a "hard drive failure may be imminent". If any of you have any suggestions, PM me.

The amount of videos are so many. But all of them doesn’t score page views so many. It’s nothing but a regional fad only among OTO-MAD community.

I believe what else the Battle Dome entry needs are the source videos (e.g. TVCMs), the trigger video, and some of the most popular related videos and other related content to post in its entry (not just in the "Videos" section).

Here is some information about Battle Dome.

Battle Dome was originally produced by Anjar that is a toy company in the U. S.

Tsukuda Original got its license from them and sold it by the name "American Battle Dome" in 1994.
As Tsukuda Original was the sponsor of very popular anime "Doraemon", their impressive Battle Dome's CM was memorized by many children watching this anime at that time. (I've already written the reason why it was impressive for Japanese.)

On NND, these videos are called "swapped puyopuyo" (ぷよぷよ差し替え, Puyopuyo Sashikae). People just swap sound data in "puyopuyo fever for PC/Mac" into that of other characters' taken from anime/game. Because it's awfully easy to make these videos, the huge amount of puyopuyo videos have been posted by non-creative users. But as you mentioned, it has no notability.

I always wonder what kind of topics about Japanese memes/fads you westerners get interested in.

I assume it's because Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is very overrated. I am also surprised to see Commando and Insane Set be featured. Most of my submissions haven't been confirmed, yet. KYM members shouldn't confirm nor feature them because they like them.

But I might be incorrect. By asking them, we'll have to know what makes the KYM members confirm and feature them.

BTW, when you mentioned "Dangerous series", that reminds me that we haven't thought about the "Doom series" ever since we worked on the entry about Ichiro Suzuki.

Some of them are confirmed, but others haven't. None of them were featured. Same goes for some of your submissions, mona_jpn. I've seen KYM member Brad confirm the Hissu Amoto San, Ichiro Suzuki and MIYOCO memes, which not many people outside of Japan find them quite interesting. Don, the other KYM member, confirmed some submissions you made that would be easy for people outside of Japan to enjoy.

If adding its entry to KYM will be quite easy, then I'm sure it won't require much time nor effort. If necessary, lets review and rearrange the Ichiro Suzuki entry. Both the Doom series and Ichiro started together before they split up. Yeah, we need more work for this. But almost all MADs/parodies were deleted due to claim by copyright holders. And the most important points for this meme are phonetic translations and difference in sensibility of male's voice in fighting between Japanese and other country people.
These are very hard to explain to westerners.

If you want the transcript of the French Wherter's Original ad, it's as follows:

I wondered why an American actor Robert Rockwell was speaking French. I couldn't notice it was a dubbed version.

The reason why I want its English script is this candy Ads got the attention for the first time not in NND but in Futaba and 2channel around 2004. And the first subject of parody for this Ads was its unique expression (At least, it's unique for Japanese sensibilities). I have to translate these early works to explain this fad. So, I need a template for translation for them to conform them to the original English script.

I don't know if there is a peculiar name to it.

I noticed that there are some Internet memes that parody openings (OP) and endings (ED) of several shows, mostly animes. There is a main entry about the OPs, but no entry for the EDs. Some series of OP and ED parodies probably aren't Internet memes nor even fads, yet.

Some OPs submitted to KYM are from Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh!, and Nichijou. Some that may or may not be submitted, yet include some in the main entry, as well as Doraemon.

For EDs, some that were submitted to KYM are from Kodomo no Jikan, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (see Hare Hare Yukai Dance), Durarara and Fight Ippatsu! Jūden-chan!! (known as X is Training ○○がトレーニング). I don't know what may or may not be submitted, yet.

I think it will be nice:

1. Title : Anime OP Parodies → Anime OP/ED Parodies
2. make entries about parodies listed on that article.
3. Clean it up as the parent entry.

OP/ED parody is a very classic style of MADs and their early works had been already on the internet around the end of 90s. In the parent entry, we had better describe about this history and some works uploaded to YouTube.

I've been noticing the word "Kichigai" being used a lot in Chargeman Ken MADs. From what I know,it's a word that means "insane" and now it's banned in japanese television,but it wasn't at the time the show aired. Should we add even if it's just a small reference to the article?

I think the important point for OP/ED parody is to reconstruct the original visual sequence by other visual resources.

I've never heard about that page. According to that archives, it's true that she began Tokekomuhito in 1998. It seems that Tokekomuhito has been continued only in this page in a small way.

For your information, she cited several English news articles about planking and was surprised at them in her diary on May 24th, 2011. Perhaps, she noticed planking meme for the first time in that day.

As you know, many Japanese aren't interested in other web cultures outside of Japan, and don't like exposing themselves on the internet. So, image memes like planking never become popular.

Actually, even planking is almost unheard of in Japan.

At this moment, I think they don't need to have it. That OP/ED is reused for MADs' music resource is too ordinary method.

Anyway, the Battle Dome entry was confirmed. I also noticed that we forgot to explain the Marble Dome CM in the Battle Dome entry. According to this MAD video below, "Marble Dome" is phonetically translated as "Mabo Don", which literally means "Szechuan-style Japanese bean curd", right?

I would like to know your opinion about a seemingly Japanese fad I've just stumbled upon.
It supposedly comes from 2ch as a sentence-meme more or less meaning "Ha! You thought this image would be porn? Tood bad! It's just X-chan!" (where X is the name of a token anime girl).

Here is an example from Danbooru.

It seems to be mainly used with a character named Sayaka from "Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica" I believe.

These images are usually called "Trolling image" (釣り画像, Tsurigazō).
It might be popular, I think.
It's too ordinary scene in 2channel that trolling images are slipping into posts.
