Hey, Berry's back!
How has Ponyville been since we last saw it?

Ah, not so 'hangover-friendly' anymore, eh?

@Valve stuff
Ah yes, I wasn't thinking of Valve's workshop program.
I haven't really paid that much attention to it, but I didn't think you could earn money from that system, can you?
I thought it was a case of Valve strongly supporting the modding community and all that, but anything you create must still be freely distributed.
Unless there is some kind of pay structure for contributors, Hasbro still might be leading the way on actually allowing officially licensed fanart to earn real money.
That's quite cool!

I made another thing.

I need to do more of these.
They are dorky as all hell, but fun.

Holy crap a ponified version of my favorite game of all time? If I was an anti brony I would hate this but this just seems amazing! Some one needs to mod fallout 3 for this and new Vegas as well!

You don't need to be anti-brony, some people just go nuts 'coz it's pony. But of course there are expections like me. I'm not a brony, but a big fan Fallout, and I'm not even mad. To be more precise I was the one who created the FO:E entry on KYM. Can I get some deal with it Gaben?

I'm not a fan of Fallout, (heck I even played yet) but for good or wrong reasons, Fallout: Equestria has become in one of the most popular fanfics of this fandom has ever produced, and yes many people got mad to see ponies in his favorite videogame, to prove it just look at the facebook comments when the article was featured:

I gotta say two things about the subject:
One: just because your favorite videogame has ponies, that doesn't meant it is ruined forever. You can play Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas without problem, and the most of all, without talking and magical ponies.
Two: is the world of the fanfiction, the world where the most inexplicable and inevitable crossovers happens all of the time and crack ships float without problem, so what's the big deal?!

Well that's it, have some luna:

Yes, Valve gives them a percentage.

And they get a BIG payday.

Here's an interview with Robin Walker in PC Gamer

It's been said the bigger creators are taking in "six figures". How many are now earning that level of income?

The top ten creators are all in that bucket. We're pretty happy with how there's a bunch of people making a good living off it. Compared to the monetary distribution of other places, like mobile applications, the workshop appears to be much less winner-take-all.

Yes….SIX FIGURES!

Six figures? I know Valve well, or to be more precise Gabe Newell. (Wow that rhyme) And I smell a reference.

BTW I look who I found!

It was surprising (I'm the engineer).

You know… Some could argue that the Moon could fall under "Light is Good" and "Light is not Good" if you note the fact that the Moon is the biggest source of Light at night.

And if you look at Luna vs Nightmare Moon… It's kind of like comparing a Full Moon to a New Moon or a Lunar Eclipse.

As for personality traits, In Magic the Gathering terms, Luna is Red/Blue, and Nightmare Moon is Blue/Black. As in, Luna is about inspiration through the intersection of emotion and knowledge, while Nightmare Moon is trickery through the intersection of knowledge and self interest.

Speaking of Magic… There is one example of an Angel of Pure Light in that game being associated with the Moon to some extent, and even being the source of redemption for a race of werewolves, and was the protector of humanity against the forces of darkness that ruled the plane… But that's neither here nor there.

Getting away from Magic… It's unfair to really call Darkness itself, or the Night, or even the Moon "Dark" per say. As being "Dark" actually implies a lot of things that don't strictly speaking have anything to do with being associated with the night.

For example… A Vampire is dark not because they can't go out in the day, but because they feed on humans. Zombies are dark regardless of the fact they can go out in the sun just fine, because they subvert the "natural order" and exist to prey on the living. Bayonetta's takes on Angels, despite the fact they are beings of Light are still "Dark" in that they are terrifying monstrosities that seek to destroy the world and have no concern for humans at all, and basically use them as pawns.

You want to know what qualifies as "dark" in MLP? The Timberwolves, Tirrek, Sombra, Windigoes, Cockatrices, that Chimera, Trixie with the amulet, and Queen Chrysalis.

What's not Dark… Is Luna. And you want to know why?

Because all of those that class as "Dark" are in some sense or another a force of amorality and self interest, as well as perversions of life itself.

As such… In order for the "Dark is not Evil" theme to be applied correctly as a tittle, it must be in terms of a selfish hero who is not saving the world for the sake of others, but because they themselves want to keep the world around to they themselves can benefit from it.

And Luna herself? She's none of that… Not since she got over her little grudge. So it's impossible for her to fit the true themes of "Dark is not Evil", as she's way too kind and helpful when she's herself to fit any kind of dark themes.

You know which "Good" character DOES fit "Dark is not Evil" in MLP?

FREAKING SPIKE!

So the lesson to be learned here is… That you should only complain about "Dark is not Evil" when you're talking about in terms of "GrimDark vs LightFluff".

And Luna is very LightFluff!

P.S. Anyone who finds literal Darkness/Night/Moon being good annoying, probably hasn't gotten rid of their childhood fear of the dark yet.

I'm very sorry, but no. It sounds like you randomly redefined the trop to exclude Luna from it, because I've never heard it described the way you have pretty much anywhere ever before. And Luna is very much an example, she's quite obviously thematically/mythologically dark and she's even on the TV Tropes page! Another point is that Luna doesn't fit the "LightFluff" thing just because she's a potentially cutesy cartoon pony either…

Thought I suppose I could be completely missing something here.

Seriously though, I can sorta sympathize with them sense I was once in a similar position, but they were REALLY overreacting on the Facebook page!

However, I think I'm in a semi-unique position with regards to FO:E, I like MLP (obviously) and I like Fallout (recently started playing through the whole series on Steam in order, still on FO1 though) but I'm not interested in FO:E and will probably never check it out. Other crossovers between the two are still relevant to my interests!

*Cough Cough* We have an entry that I poured some time into. *Cough Cough*

But seriously. It really almost makes it's own fandom. I still don't know why I haven't read it yet though. You should check out Past Sins if you're into fanfics as well. Past Sins and Fallout are like the two top MLP fanfics.

We won't talk about Cupcakes, Bubbles, or Rainbow Factory

Oh yeah! OC thread!

That's because I AM deliberately trying to redefine the trope. The original trope is too broad all things considered, since its too easy to confuse the sides of the trope that I do agree with, and those I don't, if you happen to quote the trope out of context.

To me, there is nothing good about sunlight itself, the sun has killed more people than any person, and certainly more than the moon has; and meanwhile, the moon has been my only source of comfort for a long time, giving me hope. However, if you want me to go against anything "Dark", I'll go against "Grimdark", because that has nothing to do with actual darkness.

I'm just trying any method possible to deflect your hatred of "Dark is not Evil" onto "GrimDark is not Evil". Because let's face it, all the things that are ACTUALLY annoying to anyone about the "Dark is not Evil" tropes are actually grounded more in the themes of "GrimDark is not Evil".

This is the difference between saying that a bunch of light skinned and beautiful rabbit people who live on the moon in pursuit of academic perfection are good people, and saying a monstrous horror that is mythologically known to feed on humans and drain their blood is not evil.

(The rabbit people example is one interpretation of a myth about a kind rabbit that basically threw itself onto a fire to feed someone, and was rewarded… and it's figure was then forever seen in the moon.)

Anyways… I'm pretty sure everyone here should already know that any hate towards the moon kind of frays my nerves a bit… So… Maybe we should stop here… Before I accidentally go Sailor Moon on everyone's ass.

I don't think so my position is complex. Hence try to show me an another guy who watched 2 whole seasons of MLP, sometimes checking out on MLP news sites like EQD and have two favourite tumblrpon blogs (one ask and one story), and keep saying he isn't brony. 'Coz I'm not, I don't have the habits and mental aspects (not thinking about ponies in 24/7) of a brony, etc, what makes a brony brony.

@Doctor Kori

What I think you mean to say is:

"I am not a Brony because I prefer not to have that label and do not identify by that, personally"

What you described is exactly what bronies do by definition: Engage in MLP fan stuff. Doesn't necessarily involve being a constant 24/7 horse obsessor.

However, you can also do those things and NOT be a Brony as well. And that's perfectly okay

This is because 'Brony' is nothing more than a label that you can choose to accept or decline and little more. You create the meaning for it, rather than others.

I don't use 'brony' myself either, I let people call me that if it makes more sense to them, but I never really tell people about 'bronies'. If I want to say that I like MLP fan art, I find 'pony fan' works better. I will also accept 'horsefucker'

This sums it up pretty nicely. There are a lot of people that just plain don't like the term "brony," and preferred to be called different things. I'll usually take "brony" or "ponyfag."

Also guys, we're about to ComicCon.

I don't care if someone call me brony. What I say is I'm definietly not a fan of the series. If I need to do an MLP quiz, I would fail awkwardly hard. But I don't arguing about this, you call me what you want 'coz I know what I am in really. So let's change topic. ComicCon! I want some Avenger 2 stuff. Of course only if we talk about the San Diego ComicCon but so far I don't know any other ComicCon.

Today, Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff has released a Comic-Con update/event. One of the first quests is to have Quagmire watch My Little Furry.

QWERTY Warrior Stevo said:

It's a fairly long (~600,000 words) fanfic. Basic plot:

>Ponies and Zebra in arms race
>Mane Six make for terrible government employees, doing all the retarded stuff the government from Fallout did (vault experiments, etc)
>global thermonuclear war
>grimdark wasteland ensues

I've never been able to read it or any of it's spinoffs (special mention goes to Project Horizons for its torture/gang rape/murder scenes that blur the line between serious and over-the-top parody) because I can't get passed the idea that a 1000+ year old ruler who's hand centuries of diplomatic experience can't stop a MAD war while Kennedy could--and he had to deal with the Joint Chiefs that General Ripper was based on.

@Comic Con
Do you think they'll actual give a release date for S5 or are they going to do another "announce the date that they'll make the release date announcement" thing?

FYI, there's another Pony General which is a direct sequel to this sequel.

You're already posting for fun here, but the rules in Riff Raff are a little more relaxed, so you can double post and a few other things (nothing explicit or NSFW without a spoilers, still no gore, etc.)

It can get a bit more unfriendly than the rest of the boards now though, so keep that in mind.

Welp…that's was a good one, and yes people, everyone is afraid of Hasbro's Special Force Lawyers®

@SDCC Season 5
Watching the animatic it looks like the castle has "The Hall of Justice" inside; it seems in this season there gonna be a lot of adventures and travels for all of Equestria and that's a good thing.

Maud is back, Coco maybe returns for the episode 100th (HOREY SHET GUYS!! THE 100TH EPISODE!!), but I want to see Chrysalis again (and King Sombrero too) but I don't think that ever gonna happen…

Speaking of Maud, it's good to see a family episode focusing on Pinkie Pie's family but what about Twilight. We never seen Twilight's parents again since…the royal weeding?…the coronation? It's kind a break deal once you notice that Twilight never talk with to her parents again since she and Spike moved to Ponyville…or at least is what I believe.

The only moment we saw interaction between Twilight and her family was on that comic book arc that tells the story of Cadance and Shining Armor, and that was in a flashback!

I don't know guys, for me it's seems weird that the show it never deal with Twilight's parents in any kind. I mean, we saw Rarity's parents for once, the brother/father/uncle of Rainbow Dash, the oncoming Pinkie Pie's family episode, three-four episodes devoted to the Apples, and none single one devoted to Twilight's parents.

And speaking of new overlords, today it's the birthday of our pony overlord Lauren Faust, so happy birthday!!
