I had been thinking about asking for a superhero angle, but I'm really liking your idea, Platus.
It should be cool in itself, and given Andy's habit for writing funny dialogue on his sketches, there's a lot of room for him to play with it, too.
The only caveat is that they are usually just a single character so having Andy draw himself in there might not be possible, but just a headshot of Scoots should be enough to get the idea across.
And I'll see if I can combine Crimson's into there as well.
Scoots would obviously be asking for all this while all decked out in her Dash fanclub gear!

Calling it here, the town in the S5 animatic are full of Changelings with botched disguises or it's a Twilight Zone parody where everypony has to be happy, lest they get sent to the cornfield.

I'd like to see more of the changelings.

I actually have something to say about a preview for once! And it's probably controversial, but I still feel a need to air it out.
Regarding the Changeling episode, I do sincerely hope they don't make them sympathetic, the whole "pro-Changeling" craze in the fandom seriously bothers me, and I really don't want it in the actual show.

If it's even Changelings to begin with and not something else.

Also, not sure what them problem is with the idea, or why it bothers you. People like the Changelings and they can do what they want with the ideas.

I actually sorta agree with you… for once.
I like having an evil race of creatures inhabiting the land of Equestria, causing problems and generally being a bunch of meanie-pants. They have just as much, if not more potential as reoccurring villains than as reformed characters, and we have plenty of reformed characters and… no reoccurring villains. I would much rather they stay evil. I guess I wouldn't mind having them be a tad sympathetic, but come on. The reason they're so cool is because they do what they do so evilly. You can't have your evil cake and reform it too.

Not that I think those ponies from the preview are changelings. It's a cool idea, but it's looking to be a bit more like the Crystal Empire state of affairs where they're just all under some sort of spell.

I recently saw something that said it was because the changelings saw Nightmare Moon defeated by Twilight and they thought Luna was weak being the reason why they attacked in the first place. Also something to do with a pact with Nightmare Moon.

Yeah, as much as the whole hivemind/drone idea would still work, I would love to see different factions or mindsets of changelings in order to show that being part of a race doesn't make you evil by default.
Like, say, a faction that doesn't like how Chrysalis' invasion basically made Changelings into Public Enemy #1 for Equestria and wants to fix things and find a way to minimize the harm when eating love.
Or maybe a faction that also wants to take over Equestria, but wants to do so with some degree of subtlety and safeguarding, which cannot happen under their current almost hilariously incompetent queen.

Speaking of which, does anyone know of some fanfictions that do these well?

@Urlenmeyer Glass: Yeah, I'm sure Chrysalis's incompetence at Canterlot could've caused a splint cause as I said somewhere else, she was acting severely OOC as Princess Cadance and she completely botched when Twilight apologized in the first place, so I'm sure that could've caused at least a few Changelings to splinter off from her hive.

Well my problem with it is general to all "Sympathetic Changeling" ideas.
Thing is… They're evil! They're straight-up evil monsters! It's pretty well unambiguous and yet they try and put them in a good light anyway…
Really bothers me for a couple of reasons: one being that it seems kinda blind to their original portrayal and the morality of that situation (which is rather worrying), the other being the issue of how much it clashes with canon. Now taking liberties with canon to tell good stories is one thing but completely inverting it for the sake of Draco In Leather Pants-filled nonsense is another entirely.

Personally, the way I'd go about a "changeling hero" has very little sympathetic about them… Not "evil evil", but certainly not a moral paragon.

Simply put, their main motivation should be selfish, but this does not necessarily mean they have to be going out doing bad things, and they may even do good things if its in their own interest to.

Heck… Even the most "good" changeling would still need to be a jerk just to avoid the temptation to feed on others.

But otherwise… It's probably better to think of a changeling "hero" as being one who would choose to save a village because of the fact that otherwise they'd starve to death themselves from lack of ponies to feed off.

Conversely… I don't LIKE this kind of hero, but its one that makes more sense given the changeling race's background.

That could actually work out very well for a few Changeling characters, and I do believe what you're going for there is the anti-hero type as TVTropes calls it.
