Regarding Riff Raff and Witch hunting

I decided to make a serious thread on this because it is a common problem that needs something done about.
Commonly in riff raff (and in some cases irc) comments from users are posted whether its posted in the good ffriggin comments thread or given its own thread.
When this happens at least 4-5 users go out and respond to the comment only to mock it and sometimes bully the commenter in question. This happened with the thread I made recently and even with a bunch a mods with soma cruz for another example and many times with the user MiloticExalted and other pokemon rpers.
I think there should something done about this as it can lead (and has in some occasions) to bullying and driving users to deactivation, its also not helping when mods get involved in the bullying.
What do you think?

Yeah, the witch hunting needs to stop. This is a problem. The first step might be asking users to crop out names in good frigggin comment, which will probably cut out about 50% of the witch hunting. It has made several users deactivate afaik. While most of the posts are harmless "lol you suck" gifs, there can be some legit hurtful comments. The be nice rule applies, so people could be warned for that.

There is a rule in the RR rules to keep RR inside RR, which is applied (although could do better at times).

If people drag RR threads outside of RR, then that is grounds for a warning yes. So if we spot witchhunts based on a RR post, we can warn them for it. Folks are warned for it as well, but warnings aren't public so it's at times difficult to tell.

If you spot it, inform a mod.

The "good fffriggin comment" thread is mostly to share screencaps, even the OP says to not downvote nor respond to them, just to "laugh from a safe distance" while it could have been phrased better it is a Riff-Raff thread after all (It wouldn't hurt if this could be edited to make it sound a bit more serious by a forum mod though), but even then it's still pretty obvious that outside Riff-Raff this is behaviour that can get you a warning

I don't think cropping username will do a lot and it's not like the comments are done anonymously, if somebody wants to go an extra mile to find it, they will

Stuff like this makes me question about Riff-Raff being a Leftist and less edgier version of EDF than a forum where shitposting, teasing and general banter is contained on this site. It's the main reason why most users don't go to the forums because they don't want to see their name in the spotlight of embarrassment.

So, I'm glad more moderators and users noicting this as a problem of the site.

This. Brigading is in no way allowed, and the mods and the users in the situation should have acted a little smarter. All the users involved in the most recent case have already been punished.

@Roy

Even if it's from Skype/another group, then it still all falls under the "be nice" or "behave" rule. But hopefully I'd assume in a good world, people would understand that brigading was against the rules before it happened.

Alright, so I'm not going to say this is not going to applicable in all cases, and there are certainly instances where I do believe that users (mods included) have crossed the line.

That having been said, I remember many people continually saying that the KYM comments are a circlejerk of bad ideas, and that people who post a popular statement, no matter how objectively wrong it is morally or factually, will often in and of it'self drive people off the site. Part of the reason for these "good comment" threads was to highlight how bad they were. Users who respond to them may not have always had the best attitude, but it is hard to stay completely respectful when we have people who make posts calling for: a complete overhaul of the current mods because of one moved image, desire to force all "Social Justice Warriors" into concentration camps and literally advocating the complete genocide of trans people. If you honesty feel that way about these things you are likely better off learning or leaving.

Of course, there are more innocent stuff that has problems as well. Pokemon RP I really don't have an opinion either way, but as long as they don't spam stuff, I don't see an issue.

You have to keep in mind that alot of people who post in Good Friggin Comment take the Good Friggin Comments in question really personally because they are the types of people being Good Friggin Commented on.

I'm not saying that justifies anything but I feel like the not-so-subtle outrage they express sometimes is kinda understandable.
