I don't really know what the "official" name is, but what are your favorite "Group Pokemon"? By group, I mean The Regis, The Dogs, The Eeveelutions, Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan/Hitmontop, etc. etc.I'd have to say my personal favorite group are the Eeveelutions or the Dogs (Raiku, Suicune, Entei).
What say you?
I'm going to go with the Eeveelutions followed by the legendary beast.
Lol, the soldier needs all the badges, that'd be awesome.
Sketch, you have little to no regard for why people subscribe to political correctness in the first place (the fact that you're still sore about the Derpy thing indicates that after "reading" my post on why Hasbro and upset fans had a point on the matter). Your unwillingness to see the other side of the issue (or any issue, for that matter) is depressing. There are a lot of smart people who have thought through their decisions. They have a reason. Political correctness can be more of a bane than a blessing, but not everything that prevents you from having your fun is going overboard.
I do understand that some people can't grasp certain matters of human society and its intricacies, but I would greatly appreciate it if you didn't act like you did.
Now to bring this back to Pokémon, Jynx was made intentionally and obviously made to be a blackface character. The blackface character was made intentionally to be a caricature of black people. You, being older than me, should know this as well as anyone on KYM. This was at best terribly controversial for many people, and at worst, viciously offensive to American blacks. Most blackface entertainment ended along with the main span of the Civil Rights movement in the US in the 1960's (that is no coincidence.) To reintroduce it without any change or even a disclaimer is disregarding the efforts going into the movement.
Japan being mostly homogeneous (meaning that their population is generally the same in terms of racial diversity) does not have the perspective that the United States has, and it's something that their artists and writers are only beginning to understand. Their audience is primarily an audience that hasn't had the same Civil Rights movement that the United States has, and therefore, they do not quite understand why it's offensive to some people. The United States and entertainment governing entities do not allow some content, because, more or less, they know better.
When entertainment makes the transition to another culture with another history, some things have to change. Language, music, culture specific jokes… The portrayal of Jynx would be one of them. Keeping Jynx while acknowledging the hurtful nature of the origin and making a slight change is a suitable approach.
There are arguments as to why and what shouldn't be censored or changed (e.g., James with breasts,) but this is not one of them.
Both cases were a deal of political correctness gone mad.
Then you have the slot machines which were effected by the European laws, which should not have effected us here in the States, but did anyways cause Game Freak couldn't have been assed to make separate versions.
It's next to impossible to get coins via Voltorb Flip, and you can't just buy them anymore which is annoying, especially since that's the only way to get a Porygon in Soul Silver or Heart Gold.
As for the Derpy thing, though I don't know why I'm talking about ponies in a Pokemon thread, that still irritates me cause it was censorship, plain and simple, and censorship irritates me to no end.
The incidents with, Jynx, Coin-flip and Derpy (even though the latter is off-topic here) all have valid reasons for the change. Coin-flip was kept for the American version because either it wouldn't fair to us Europeans to be the only place without slot machines, or they they wanted to try out the idea. From certain perspectives, all the arguments are valid, it just depends whose side you are on

Japan still has the slots, and therefor the ability to buy coins. They wanted it to be fair, they could've edited their version to put in Voltorb Flip as well.
Thankfully they did the proper thing come Gen V and they axed the game corner, and hopefully come Gen VI, and it will come I'm sure, they keep it out if that European gambling law remains in effect.
I can't believe this got put up the week I went away! Verbose, you are a glorious teal deer, indeed.
Anyway, I think you guys already know what my favorite Pokemon is. I think Ash's Charmeleon from the series has a similar personality to mine. He's a cool character does not give two fucks about anything.
Something I want to bring to the Jynx Topic.

Thank you, I still stand by my opinion that people here in the States (as usual) flipped out for no good reason.

The Rotoms:
Ah yes, the Rotom family. I still haven't caught a Ditto in Black in order to trade for one. I really need to do that.
OH, and before I forget, The Global Link site has got a Porygon thing going on. If you want a DW Porygon, now's the time to go on there and get it.
Nice find, Notsocool. Kramas for a good argument. That is a theory that I could understand and recognize as valid.
However, even if the intent was not to offend, it certainly did. It's not something that can fly in the US, because we don't know Japanese culture. We know American culture, and that where we pull our values and norms. In American culture, the character bore too much resemblance to a hurtful stereotype.
And besides, the person who made the video is making connections without addressing the counterargument: Japan has been historically racist in portrayals of dark people and non-white foreigners for a very long time. With that in mind, one must assume that they aren't beyond making racist portrayals of characters. It could just as easily be said that Jynx is a character meant to mimic blackface in entertainment: a creature that dances about seductively and speaks a language similar to humans? It actually seems like a caricature of the caricature (not done as a social critique.) He has a valid argument, but his argument does not debunk the one presented by me and others.
It's like murder and reckless manslaughter. You still killed a man, and you're going to be punished for it even if it was unintentional. With the similarities that we recognized, there was a need for a change in the US.
In fact, I don't know why people are so upset about the change. The color changed to purple. It's not so important to the character in the show/Pokémon in the game that Jynx be black, is it?
Is it so important that Jynx must be black?
I know Sketch. You don't understand what I'm saying, so you still feel the same way.

I don't think it has to be mandatory, but seeing as the release is still a few months away, it might be nice for people who want to talk pokiemanz but don't want specifics of BW2 spoiled yet.
It's the principal of the thing. When a company bows to the complainers the way Nintendo/Game Freak and Hasbro did, all that does is to embolden the people who complained so that if they find something else that offends them, they'll only continue to complain until that thing is changed as well.
Now if the companies had ignored them or such, they might move onto something else, or even decide that complaining is not going to work on something else, but no, unfortunately the changes were made when they shouldn't have been.
Edit: Thank you for the spoiler tag information though, as I mentioned, I didn't know how to do that, and the textile link didn't have it on their site for some reason.

Like I said, what may be something small to you, may be big to someone else. And even if Nintendo didn't think the problem was big, they would change it anyway, because they risk losing customers. Nintendo want to make money, like Hasbro and any other companies in the world does.
Oh noes! A pokemon has a slightly different color scheme!
It's not like Jynx was completely retconned. Poor Porygon and his evolutions never appeared in an episode after his fiasco. The problem wasn't because of Porygon, but the episode he was in.

Yes, and sadly, those companies bowed to something stupid. I lost respect for both companies when they did that. Enough to make me quit purchasing their stuff or stop watching their stuff? Obviously not, but it still pisses me off and makes me think that if someone got offended by something else in either Pokemon or MLP: FiM, that both companies would bow to the haters again, and that's sad to think.
As for Porygon, it wasn't Porygon that set off the seizure thing, it was Pikachu, and sadly, Pikachu never got banned, to bad, cause Pikachu is teh attention whore of the series.
That joke…
It's so bad it's actually kinda funny. Sad part is, the anime is geared towards children, but it's still pretty bad, though I still do like Team Rocket, more specifically, Jessie, James and Meowth.
It was nice to hear that they gained some competence for the Black/White series…and then they lost it.
Bleh, don't know why they did that to them, that's not cool bro.
First time posting on this thread.
Ive played blue, red, yellow, silver, black, and now I'm on soulsilver
I usually pick grass type Pokemon as my main and my favorite is surperior. My favorite types of Pokemon are psychic, ghost, and dark.

Apparently, Black and white is a good series. Mainly because Team Rocket make a comeback, and Iris is a lot better than Dawn (although Cilan will never replace Brock). And they had the nerve to cancel a 2 part episode where Team Rocket and Team Plasma try to take each other down while destroying Castelia City.

Unfortunately that was due to the earthquakes in Japan, but again, I don't understand why they couldn't air it afterwards or such, but eh, it's another one of those things I'll try and keep going off on a tangent about as I already did enough of that about Jynx/Derpy/Porygon.
I do have to wonder if Team Plasma in the anime are still going to go the Team PETA route, or Hell, if N is even ever going to make an appearance.

They did say they were going to re-air it later. But that is a good point WHERE THE HELL IS N IN THE ANIME?
But judging by the violence, I don't think they're going PETA

I don't know really. The anime has always, ALWAYS kinda clashed with the game, specifically when it comes to the rules and Godchu managing to do things that would make any hardcore Pokemon player cry.
Oh damn, that video, do want, do want so very much!
Also, yeah, though of course PETA has always been violent at times themselves, but yeah, hopefully they avoid that route in the anime, if they show up outside of that particular episode. That's one thing that makes them my least favorite villainous team in this series, at least where B/W 1 in concerned.

Sorry for not replying to this (and for the double post, but you know, I can't edit after a certain time). Welcome to the Pokemon thread.
I usually choose my starters by what they are, and the fact that Serperior is a snake made me choose it when I got Black. Snake Pokemon are awesome, despite the fact that people say it's an awful Pokemon.
AVENGERS POKEMON YOU GUYS!
LOOK AT CAP'S SHIELDON OMG IT'S SO CUTE FEWDFLWEDBWSVDWEDLW I CAN'T.
Why am I not surprised that Cap has a Braviery? Also, yes, that Shieldon and the Eevee that he's carrying.
Also, I loled that the Hulk has what could be considered the cute Pokemon out of the franchise, though Lapras is pretty awesome in itself.

They are my favourite villains for that reason. I liked how they didn't admit their evil goal until the end, How N wasn't evil, just misguided, and they were the final boss of story mode. And I liked how you only battled Ghetis once.

I couldn't get to liking them cause they acted way to much like PETA, with the exception of N who was being misguided by Ghetis, but even the grunts which I think were also being misled acted to much like PETA with their comments of "anything who thinks different is WRONG" and of course, the Pokemon abuse that they say they wanted to stop.
@Twins: Lol, yeah, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that Pokemon's name.
Okay, close your eyes and picture this- wait, no, open your eyes and keep reading, but picture this anyway: Ruby and Sapphire remakes for the 3DS. The glorious depth of the underwater trenches, the leafy canopy of the trees below as you cross Fortree's bridges, the rolling dunes of the desert, the dynamic camerawork as you climb Sky Pillar. The use of moving sprites in contests. Being able to actually get event Pokemon, since the event will be wi-fi based, maybe even distributed over Spot Pass. More Steven Stone (no homo, but dat everything). A fully remastered Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza cutscene, as the remakes will naturally incorporate the events of Emerald version. Are you picturing all that? Good. Now forget about it and focus on the main event: STREET PASS SECRET BASES NUOH MAH GAWD I WANT IT SO BAD I CAN TASTE IT

There are 2 reasons N protected pokemon. 1. Ghetis – "As a child, he was raised together with Pokémon and was isolated from humans. Ghetsis would only let N see Pokémon that had been hurt by humans." 2. His Childhood – " It is revealed by Anthea and Concordia in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 that N was an orphan raised by Pokémon in a forest until he was taken in by Ghetsis."
Team Plasma actually did love pokemon, it was only Ghetis and the other sages who were evil.

Everybody keeps saying this. Do you think that they'll actually do it, cause I myself think that they'll move onto Gen VI before remaking anything else, though a full on 3DS remake would be nice, particuarly since I think the 3DS runs off my new router.
Soul Silver, Y U no let me trade over the GTS now?!
@Random: I know that, but well, they were being a little hypocritical about it. As Cheran said, I can't remember which cave, I think it was Twist Mountain, that if they wanted to release Pokemon, they should start with their own, and then the grunts were kicking a Munna for Dream Mist.
Mfw → ಠ_ಠ
And apparently not all the grunts were in it for good reasons, as B/W 2 indicate by the ones still following Ghetis even after he spilled his plans.
Most of you people want to see Ruby & Sapphire remakes, but all I want to see is new Mystery Dungeon games for Generation V. No one but me seems to be wanting them.

I've been jonesing for a new Mystery Dungeon installment for ages, but I think that series kinda tanked after the three Wii Ware dungeon games that never made it past Japan. Still, if they made another, I'd buy it. I'd buy it with money.

Mfw they don't export those outside of Japan → ಠ_ಠ
I always hate it when Japan doesn't export. I know people say that their countries don't get stuff, but yeah, the US has at times not gotten stuff as well, and that's another example. To bad, I liked the Mystery Dungeon games.
Mystery Dungeon was one of those Pokemon spin-offs which were good, like Snap, Ranger and my personal favourites, Colosseum and XD: Gale Of Darkness
Also:
If Bill Cosby in Simpsons accurately describes the games, this accuratley describes the anime
Well, I just went in and got a Porygon for my Pokemon Black game, and I named it T. Stark since Tony up there has a Porygon-Z, and if you want your own Porygon with it's DW ability, the code is IGNPORYGON
Though of course you have to go into the Dream World thing to get it. Damn it's been forever since I did that since my new router was being uncooperative with my DS. Thankfully my 3DS has rectified that situation.
I started watching pokemon about a week before it aired on American Television.
Cause 4kids had released the VHS tapes early. I watched the first 3 episodes. I was hooked.
I played the games, ALL OF THEM, as a son of a wealthy business man I had money to throw around. I was like 5. Pokemon this that this that.
19 now and I still hang on to my very first pikachu plushy.
The first time beating the elite 4 was actually in the 2nd Gen. I knew shit during 1st gen.
My love always last for eternity. If I loved it at one point I still love it now.
Oh man, remember that feel when your stupid kid self deleted your Charmander's Ember to make room for Leer because you had no idea what Leer was but it sounded frickin' amazing? Remember searching for items in those underground hallways tile by tile because you didn't know there'd eventually be an Itemfinder? Remember that feeling of triumph when you received the EXP. All, only to get into one battle and realize it was the worst item ever? Remember hearing from the NPCs that Grimer appear where there's pollution, so you went and bought a ton of Potions and Pokeballs and tossed them hoping that would make Grimer appear? Remember not having a clue how to get through Victory Road and ending up with a level 86 Charizard before realizing where you needed to move those blasted boulders to? Remember waiting at the title screen until an interesting Pokemon scrolled by, then pressing A so you could hear its cry? Remember developing your super secret Pokemon-catching button pressing technique that you still secretly believe helps you catch stuff to this day? Remember beating the game, then wandering around later to find that you've had an Oddish, now level 100, in the daycare since before you beat Misty? And of course, remember GARY MOTHERFORNICATING OAK?
Man I love Pokemon

Don't feel to bad, the only game I've beaten was Black, and I haven't even beaten the Elite 4 there….though technically I have, I haven't beaten the Champion though, particuarly since the E4 and the Champion in Black and White are at pretty high levels.

I was a very late comer to the series (I started in series 4). Even then I had no idea what I was doing. By the time my turtwig was a Grotle, it already had 4 HMs. I got rid of Lucky Egg because it looked pointless. I couldn't beat the Elite 4 without my friends help. Oh, and I used a master ball on a girafarig.

Hell, these kinda things are the reason I NEVER used TMs pre-Gen V. Why it took them so long to make the TMs along with the HMs infinite use is beyond me. Same with the overuse of HMs before you beat the story. Bleh HMs.

I know, right? I despised using TMs, unless you could buy extras somewhere like the Game Corner. Instead, I always treated them like a kind of side-quest, seeing if I could collect all of them rather than use them.
Also, that feel when buying enough coins to afford Porygon, mashing A fifty billion times while talking to the guy behind the counter.

Pretty much, and don't get me started on the Game Corner, particularly anything but the Japanese one, as I still loathe Voltorb Flip with a passion.
Game Freak, Y U remove the option to buy coins?!
