About

"πŸ’”" Has Gone Mainstream, We Now Use "πŸ₯€" refers to a series of memes on TikTok claiming that the "broken heart" emoji (πŸ’”), also known as the "heartbreak" emoji, had become mainstream and overused. The memes then urged people to use the "wilted flower" emoji (πŸ₯€), also known as the "dead rose" or "dead flower" emoji, instead. The joke is at the expense of internet users who use the πŸ’” and πŸ₯€ emojis earnestly to convey that they're broken or emo performatively. The emojis were used ironically en masse following the What's a Father? meme featuring an old clip of late rapper XXXTentacion, which many dubbed "corny." The cliche was that fans of XXXTentacion used the "broken" emojis too often. The joke became commonplace among JuggTok and SlimeTok circles on TikTok that utilized Hood Irony formats like Druski Dancing and slang overload visuals similar to ICL TS PMO memes. Some blamed Dandy's World gamers for ruining the πŸ’” emoji. As the meme progressed, TikTokers offered new emojis to replace πŸ₯€ like the "low battery" emoji (πŸͺ«), among others.
