The video was uploaded to TikTok in June 2022 where it became the subject of reactions and memes that sexualized the woman for her prominent, "thicc" posterior.

Origin

On June 28th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @mackienicole posted a video captioned, "This is a 23 year old girl that was caught in the volcano eruption in pomepii in 79AD," showcasing a plaster cast of the 23-year-old woman's preserved remains who died during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii in 79 A.D. The woman, preserved in a glass display case, is shown lying on her stomach covering her face. The video scans up and down her body, gaining over 11.4 million views in three days (shown below).

The video's comment section attracted jokes about the woman's posterior over the following days as users ironically simped for her. The top comment, with over 89,000 likes, reads, "Hear me out." Another comment with over 27,000 likes reads, "lord have mercy we must stay focused brothers" (further examples shown below).

The video also inspired Duets and Stitches on TikTok reacting similarly to the video, including numerous smash or pass Duets (example shown below, left). On June 28th, 2022, TikToker^[2] @windowkidofficial posted a video response asking where the girl is located, gaining over 350,000 views in three days (shown below, right).

On June 30th, Ricky Berwick posted a reaction to the video on Twitter,^[3] implying he finds the woman attractive, gaining over 1,300 likes and 110 retweets in a day (shown below).
