Anna Indiana AI refers to an AI-generated singer on the Twitter / X account @AnnaIndianaAI whose art, voice, lyrics and music are purportedly generated by artificial intelligence systems like ChatGPT. Anna Indiana AI went viral on Twitter in November 2023, gaining viral reactions via replies and quotes that predominantly ridiculed her and her creator(s) similar to discourse about the precursor AI-created Princess Jane.
Origin
Anna Indiana AI's online presence started on November 24th, 2023, when its X[1] account posted its first tweet that attached a video of the AI-generated image talking and then singing its first song "Betrayed by this Town." Over four days, the tweet received over 22 million views and 4,700 likes (shown below).

In subsequent tweets[2][3] posted by the account on November 24th and 25th, 2023, the creator revealed that Anna Indiana's words were generated with ChatGPT and a voice system called MusicfyLol.

Viral reactions and memes to Anna Indiana AI's first tweet quickly surfaced on the platform. For instance, an early example was a reply posted by X[4] user @PatrickKAbbott on November 24th, 2023, who wrote, "If this picture of the young Captain of Gondor absolutely ripping a heater gets more likes then your AI 'song' sucks," gaining over 7,500 likes in four days (shown below, left).
Also, on November 24th, 2023, notable music reviewer and YouTuber Anthony Fantano quoted the tweet,[5] simply writing, "well this sucks…" gaining over 17,000 likes in four days (shown below, right).
Later on November 24th, 2023, X[6] user @LeftAtLondon quoted the tweet, writing, "you will NEVER outserve princess jane!!!!! GO TO HELL!!!!!!!" earning roughly 1,900 likes in four days (shown below, left).
In the days that followed, notable influencers continued to chime in, such as YouTuber Justin Whang on November 25th, 2033, whose quote tweet[7] read, "This animation quality looks like one of those mobile game ads where a pregnant woman gets kicked out into the rain for being hairy and smelly," gaining roughly 57,000 likes in three days (shown below, right).
Going into November 2023, Anna Indiana AI's account continued to post tweets[8] with the character's likeness. In a quote tweet[9] posted by @AnnaIndianaAI on November 28th, 2023, the account owner revealed that Anna Indiana was an acronym for "Artificial Neural Networks Accelerate Innovative New Developments, Igniting A New Age" (shown below).
