About
Art Hoe Wojak is a character variant of the Wojak meme that is often used to represent leftist quadrants in Political Compass memes. The Wojak is modeled after the caricature of a typical liberal arts student with orange-dyed hair, round glasses, dark lipstick, a septum ring, a yellow shirt, a can of yerba mate and a choker that reads "witch." The character is often used similarly to the Emily BLM ACAB is Typing meme and represents a privileged, ill-thought-out or hypocritical version of liberal and leftist politics.
Origin
The origins of the term "Art Hoe" can be traced to a Tumblr art style from 2015, after which the use of the term evolved into certain aesthetic signifiers like sunflowers, Fjallraven backpacks, plants and mom jeans.[3]
The earliest known use of the Art Hoe Wojak was on 4chan, with two threads featuring the same drawing and phrasal template appearing on October 10th, 2018, on 4chan's /mu/[1] board and /pol/[2] board (seen below).

The Art Hoe Wojak continued to be a prevalent meme on 4chan in subsequent years, with a 4chan user posting a thread using the image and referring to "Art Hoes" on November 29th, 2018 (seen below, left).[4] On April 20th, 2020, Redditor /u/Vizkomkdum posted a meme showing that Art Hoe Wojak's favorite website is Tumblr[5] and gathered over 25,000 upvotes in three years (seen below, right).

The Wojak became a prominent part of Political Compass memes posted to Reddit after 2019. For example, on June 5th, 2020, an unknown Redditor posted a meme to /r/politicalcompassmemes,[6] gathering over 5,700 upvotes in three years (seen below, left). On November 3rd, 2020, Redditor /u/MortinhoCx posted a meme using the Art Hoe Wojak,[7] gathering over 10,000 upvotes in two years (seen below, right).
