Baby Yoda Turns On the Music, also known as Stop Touching Things, refers to a memorable scene from The Mandalorian web television series in which Baby Yoda turns various switches on and off and is told off by the main protagonist the Mandalorian. Online, the scene gained popularity in edits on Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, with the edits imagining Baby Yoda turning on various songs.

Origin

On November 29th, 2019, episode four "Chapter 4: Sanctuary" of the web television series The Mandalorian premiered.[1] In one scene of the episode, Baby Yoda is flying together with the main protagonist The Mandalorian in his spaceship and begins entertaining himself by turning switches on the control panel on and off. The Mandalorian warns Baby Yoda to stop and, ignored, picks him to prevent him from touching the buttons.

Stop touching things.

On November 29th, 2019, Twitter user @xoGlitterTV posted an edit of the scene in which Baby Yoda turned on "Get Low" by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz by flipping the switch.[2] The tweet received over 160,000 retweets and 456,100 likes in three days, with the video gaining over 8.1 million views.

Spread

In the following days, the format received further spread on Twitter, with users posting edits based on various songs. For example, a December 1st "Back That Azz Up" edit by @MatthewACherry received over 3,400 retweets and 9,000 likes in two days (shown below, top).[3] A December 1st "Futsal" meme by @RollingLoud gained over 34,700 likes in two days (shown below, bottom).[4]

Additionally, the format also received spread on YouTube[5] and Instagram.[6]
