Baldur's Gate 3 Bear Sex Scene refers to an optional scene from the video game Baldur's Gate III where the player's character has sex with the druid Halsin while transformed into a bear. The scene was first revealed during the Panel From Hell: Release Showcase livestream and became the subject of reactions and memes over the following weeks, seeing an increase in interest following the game's release in early August. That month, Larian founder Swen Vincke claimed in an interview that people were sending his son images of bears in reference to the sex scene.

On July 7th, 2023, the Larian Studios YouTube^[1] channel hosted the "Panel From Hell: Release Showcase" livestream where they shared details about the RPG Baldur's Gate III. Around the 5:37:00 mark, a scene from the game is shown where the player is given the option of having sex with the druid Halsin while he's transformed into a bear (shown below). The video gained over 971,000 views in a month.

The bear sex scene was reported on by IGN^[2] the day it premiered on July 7th, 2023. That day, Twitter^[3] user @vaughandavies97 posted the scene, writing, "So Baldur's Gate 3 is a 10/10… this is the proper D&D experience," garnering over 28,500 likes in a month (shown below). That day, Redditor u/Beaun posted a meme to /r/BaldursGate3^[4] sharing an image of the shocked squirrel watching the bear sex scene, writing, "Me watching the infamous bear scene," garnering over 1,500 upvotes in a month.

On July 8th, TikToker^[5] @asmongoldstories posted Asmongold's reaction to the scene, garnering over 310,000 views in a month (shown below, left). On July 22nd, TikToker^[6] @gloomstrike posted a meme comparing the bear from Baldur's Gate III and bears from Elden Ring, garnering over 2 million views in three weeks (shown below, right).

On August 1st, Twitter^[7] user and lead writer at Larian Studios @mrjohncorcoran tweeted, "Spent the past week or so doing final tests on some companion romance arcs, and… damn, I’m still surprised at just how horny this game is. Bear’s got nothin’ on what’s still to come 🫠" which was reposted to /r/BaldursGate3^[8] that day, garnering over 3,200 upvotes in a week (shown below).

On August 5th, Twitter^[9] user @Charalanahzard posted, "have not had sex with a single bear yet where refund," garnering over 9,400 likes in four days (shown below). On August 8th, PC Gamer^[10] posted an interview with Larian founder Swen Vincke where he says that the bear sex scene went so viral as a meme, his 17-year-old son's friends began sending him images of bears in reference to it, quoted as saying, "My son comes to me telling me 'dad, people are sending me pictures of bears from everywhere.' I wasn't ready for that. I could overhear him going like 'Yeah, I KNOW!' [to people who called him]."
