Batmetal is an animated video series by Russian duo ArhyBES which features Batman performing metal music by Dethklok, parodying the Batman series.

Origin

On July 1st, 2014, the first video in the series was posted to YouTube. The video features Batman performing with a band of various Robins to the song "Face Fisted" by Dethklok. In nearly four years, the video gained over 26 million views.


Spread

The following video in the series was uploaded on September 1st, 2015. Similar to the first video, "Batmetal Returns" features Batman performing a Dethklok song, this time "Murmaider," and features an underwater theme. That video gained over 31 million views.



The series attracted a significant following online. The series has a page on TV Tropes [1] and Wiki.[2] There have been several reaction videos to the series posted to YouTube as well. On November 29th, 2015, a Fine Brothers video showing teens reacting to the series was posted and gained over 6.8 million views (shown below, left). On September 19th, 2016, YouTuber RobleisIUTU posted a reaction that gained over 4.6 million views (shown below, right).

On October 29th, 2016, ArhyBES uploaded an update on the series (shown below, left). The latest video in the series did not appear until March 31st, 2018, which featured several different covers in addition to Dethklok. The video gained over 3.5 million views in five days (shown below, right).
