The music video gained over 128 million views in five weeks, with the song reaching number seven position on Billboard Hot 100 chart on the week of April 13th.^[2]

In the following weeks, the song has been parodied online. For example, on April 13th, YouTuber SethEverman posted a video "how to create billie eilish's "bad guy"" which gained over 13.2 million views in three weeks (shown below).^[3]

Starting on April 28th, 2019, the song gained significant popularity in edits on Instagram. On April 28th, 2019, Instagram users yupanthony^[4] and raeraerandy^[5] posted the two of the earliest edits of the video (shown below, top and bottom), with edits gaining over 409,000 views (54,300 likes) and 672,000 views (84,500 likes) in four days, respectively.

In the following days, multiple Instagram users submitted edits of the video, including notable versions by users igotsilver,^[6] fr1ck.mp4,^[7] notkinghill^[8] and largetrap.^[9]
