Blob Showing Off Jell-O, also known as B.O.B.'s Jell-O Wobble, is an exploitable reaction GIF taken from the animated film Monsters Vs. Aliens. The clip shows a blue blob creature showing off a plate of green Jell-O to a man in a suit. Since the image was first used as an exploitable, it has been used to describe situations where someone is showing off a specific possession or ability to someone else who lacks it.

Origin

The GIF originates as a scene in Monsters Vs. Aliens (below) where B.O.B., a one-eyed blob voiced by Seth Rogen, tells Derek he is romantically involved with a lime Jell-O mold. He wiggles the Jell-O in Derek's face to show it off.

The earliest documented use of the GIF as a reaction image was by Redditor Cindernubblebutt, who linked to the GIF on May 13th, 2016, in the comments of a post on Reddit's r/gogopgo. ^[1]

The earliest alteration of the GIF was made by Redditor Winston-91, who used the GIF for a meme about homelessness (below, left) uploaded to r/shitposting^[2] on July 12th, 2021. The post received over 8,000 points in 2 months. On August 17th, 2021, Redditor z_shah7 posted a version of the meme about orphans (below,right) to r/shitposting. ^[3] The post received over 15,000 upvotes in two weeks.
