About
Built Like a Baked Bean is a catchphrase taken from a viral video that was turned into an audio sample and uploaded to TikTok in January 2020 in which a user plays out a skit where a girl calls a guy "tall like a giraffe" and he tells her she's "dead built like a baked bean." The video's original sound went viral over the following years, inspiring lip dubs and animations to it on both TikTok and YouTube.
Origin
On January 17th, 2020, TikToker[1] @igotcuteankles posted a comedy skit where he alternates playing a man and a woman. As the woman, he says, "Oh my god you're so tall, you look like a giraffe," and the man responds, "That's why you dead built like a baked bean." The woman gets offended and hits the man and he insists it didn't hurt while writhing in pain. The woman compliments his strength and claims her dad is The Rock. The video (shown below) garnered over 5.9 million views in three years.

The video's original sound went viral over the following years, inspiring over 44,000 uses by March 2023. One of the most viral examples is an animation posted by TikToker[2] @zippkey_ on March 9th, 2020, garnering over 4.2 million views in three years (shown below). On November 25th, TikToker[3] @hankgreen1, brother of John Green, posted a video to the sound (shown below, right).

The audio also became the subject of video edits on YouTube. For example, on June 10th, 2021, YouTuber[6] a_con_dog posted a Madness Combat animation to the audio that garnered over 735,000 views in two years (shown below).
On August 1st, 2022, a Redditor posted a piece of Hollow Knight fan art to /r/HollowKnightMemes[4] referencing the video, garnering over 600 upvotes in seven months (shown below).
On February 16th, 2023, TikToker[5] @odiethebulldog posted a video of their dog using a new upload of the baked bean audio, garnering over 5 million views in a month. The audio inspired over 9,100 uses in the same timeframe, mostly consisting of videos of pets and animals (examples shown below, left and right).
