Child Porn 3 Bowing to the Paul God refers to a humorously captioned photograph of basketball player Chris Paul being knocked down by fellow player Paul George during a 2021 NBA match between the Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns. The caption of the photo, in which Chris Paul is captured mid-fall, references Chris Paul's nickname, CP3, intentionally misinterpreting it as "Child Porn 3." Both the photograph and the nickname saw further use online in the following years, with the image being used as an exploitable, often paired with the X Bowing to Y God phrasal template, and the nickname being used to refer to the player.
Origin
On June 29th, 2021, during a basketball match between NBA teams Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns, LA Clippers player Paul George knocked down Phoenix Suns player Chris Paul (clip[1] shown below).
Later on that day, Redditor Ok-Proefessional4039 posted a photograph of Chris Paul and Paul George, with the former caught mid-fall. The post (shown below), captioned, "Child Porn bowing to the Paul God," received over 5,500 upvotes in the /r/LAClippers[2] subreddit prior to removal. The choice to refer to Chris Paul as "Child Porn 3" referenced Paul's nickname, CP3, and "CP" being an acronym for "child pornography."

Later on June 29th, 2021, Redditor sublimesuperb shared the post in the /r/nbacirclejerk[3] subreddit, where it received over 630 upvotes in three years.
In the following years, a screenshot of the post was widely circulated online. For example, on July 20th, 2022, X[4] user @twinkophrenia made a repost that received over 2,000 reposts and 25,000 likes in two years.
Starting in 2023, the post gained popularity as an exploitable meme format. For example, on June 11th, 2023, X[5] user DonNextDoor286 posted a PokΓ©mon meme based on the format that received over 2,600 upvotes in the /r/stunfisk subreddit in one year (shown below).
On May 24th, 2024, Redditor DannyZzzzz posted a screenshot of a Google Gemini AI query "who is cp3," with the AI supposedly making an incorrect reply in which it mistakenly assumed that Chris Paul's name was "Child Porn 3." The authenticity of the post is unconfirmed. The post received over 2,100 upvotes in the /r/nbacirclejerk[6] subreddit in six months, with an X[7] repost made on May 25th garnering over 2,800 reposts and 42,000 likes in one day (shown below).
