Cristiano Ronaldo Celebration, also known as Siii / Siuu, refers to a clip of professional football player Cristiano Ronaldo yelling "Siiiii" (sometimes misheard as "Siuuu") after he scores a goal or wins an award. The "Siii" has been added to numerous videos as a sound effect since originating in 2014.

Origin

Edits featuring the Ronaldo "Siii" use his celebration of winning the 2014 FIFA Balloon d'Or award ahead of perennial rival Lionel Messi when he screamed "Siiiii" on the stage.^[1] On January 13th, 2015, FIFA's official YouTube^[2] channel uploaded footage of it. The video received more than 4.7 million views in seven years.

On September 21st, 2016, YouTuber^[3] Raauulmg uploaded the highest engagement clip of Ronaldo screaming "Siiii" in front of the camera. The video received more than 10 million views in six years (shown below).

Spread

Over the following years, Ronaldo's "siuuu" clip has been used in various remix memes. For example, on April 17th, 2020, YouTuber^[4] músicos Cínicos 鯉 uploaded a video titled "CR7's "SIIIIIU" but with different sound effects." The video received more than 6.5 million views in two years (shown below, left). On April 3rd, 2021, YouTuber^[5] Memeste uploaded a similar edit titled "8 Cristiano Ronaldo Suiii Sound Variations in 60 Seconds." The video received more than 5.8 million views in one year (shown below, right).

Starting in 2022, the sound began being added to various videos as a sound effect. For example, on January 22nd, 2022. Facebook^[6] user Muhammad Wira Yudha uploaded a clip from the anime Beastars and added Ronaldo's "Siuuu" in it to the "LowRes MKUltra" group. The video received more than 5,700 reactions and 3,300 shares in five days (shown below).
