The video was reposted by the Twitter^[1] account @goal, garnering 2.5 million views and 26,200 likes in a month. (shown below)

Two months later, on July 10th, 2023, the TikTok^[2] meme account @ginacocaina posted a montage based on the original video, in which Cristiano is throwing his son Mateo out of a New York City rooftop pool. The post (shown below) garnered 56 million views and 4.2 million likes in three days.

The fake video was widely spread across multiple social media channels, with people sharing the content as a "real video" to surprise and shock internet users. For instance, on July 10th, 2023, TikToker^[3] @horadojogo._ posted a video explaining what Cristiano Ronaldo did to his son, pretending the video was real to his audience. The post (shown below, left) garnered 38,000 plays and 1,700 likes in two days. On June 2nd, 2023, TikToker^[4] posted a similar montage of Cristiano throwing his son, but in this case in a rooftop pool in Barcelona, Spain. The post (shown below, right) garnered 3 million plays and 175,000 likes in a month.
