Darren and Sharron TikTok or Shannon Give Me My Kids Back refers to a series of memes on TikTok where a man named Darren Filling, represented by an older, frowning man with glasses, pleads with his ex-wife Sharon or Shannon Filling, who changed her name to Myrtle, to give him the kids back. The videos became popularized on TikTok in March 2023, inspiring numerous users to create accounts for each character and add to their lore.

Origin

It is unclear who posted the first video where Darren pleads for his ex-wife to return and bring the kids back. The earliest known video was posted by TikToker[1] @mrbogbag on March 3rd, 2023 and features a photograph of an older man with glasses and a frown, captioned, "I miss my ex wife,,, Sharon,,, please come back with the kids,,," garnering over 1.9 million views in six days (shown below).

Over the course of March 2023, TikTokers began posting videos as Darren and Shannon (sometimes named Sharron) and adding lore to the characters' stories. For example, on March 6th, TikToker[2] @mrbogbag posted a mango drop meme playing into the story, garnering over 2.7 million views in three days (shown below, left). On March 7th, TikToker[3] @myrtle_mae123 posted a video claiming to be Shannon, saying she changed her name to Myrtle, garnering over 4.3 million views in two days (shown below, right). That day, TikToker[4] @its.me.shannonwap posted a video claiming Shannon got back with Darren, garnering over 60,000 views in two days.

Later that day, TikToker[5] @garry.bertram posted a Capcut meme showing Darren as a massive wave asking for his kids and claiming Shannon has dementia, garnering over 3.4 million views in two days (shown below). On March 8th, a Redditor made a post to /r/OutoftheLoop[6] asking about the memes.
