The Mango Dropping From Helicopter CapCut Template refers to a CapCut template used on TikTok in which a photo of someone emerges from a giant mango falling from a helicopter onto a beach. The template was created by TikToker Rosalina Aguiar. TikTokers used the template along with the phrasal template The Function Will Have X, essentially representing them arriving at a party where a subjectively desirable thing is waiting for them. The trend used multiple songs and TikTok sounds, the most common being a Rio Da Yung OG song ("I never rode the short bus but I'm a dumb nigga") and the song "Meat 2 Meat" by FYP Quail 🍄.

Origin

On January 26th, 2023, TikToker^[1] _troyincharge used TikToker^[2] Rosalina Aguiar's mango template for his own video in which a photo of he and his friend emerged from the mango with text overlay reading, "POV: when someone mentions a 2man." The video also used the song "Heavy Rotation" by Shakeback Gang & Rio Da Yung Og as the TikTok sound.^[3] Over the course of 11 days, the video received roughly 246,200 plays and 33,200 likes (shown below).

After the video went viral, other TikTokers followed _troyincharge's example, using the same sound^[3] and CapCut template. For instance, on January 27th, 2023, TikToker^[4] therealveazus posted an iteration with text reading, "The Function Got Snow Bunnies," and received roughly 681,400 plays and 99,800 likes in 10 days (shown below).

Thereafter, most of the TikToks a part of the trend used the phrasal template, "The function will have X," and the videos became increasingly absurd and meta as time went on. For instance, on February 3rd, 2023, TikToker^[5] grupkneelius posted an iteration that referenced the Pitbulls vs. Toddlers meme, earning roughly 1 million plays and 195,100 likes in five days (shown below, left). Also on February 3rd, 2023, TikToker^[6] _jbrazyy posted an iteration about the Wisconsin Volleyball Team Explicit Photo Leak, earning roughly 502,700 plays and 74,300 likes in five days (shown below, right).
