About
Depresso is a Pal from the game Palworld who became viral after it's in-game mannerisms were noticed by players making it do manual labor after the game's release in early January 2024. The Pal's popularity can be seen in various Fan Art and memes of people stating how the Pal is their spirit animal.
Origin
On July 28th, 2023, the PocketPair[1] YouTube channel uploaded a video detailing the best way to use pals efficiently. In this video, a Depresso can be seen being captured near the end, with a few of them being shown building a sparklit, complete with their soon to be famous expression (shown below).
Spread
Shortly after Palworld launched, Depresso found itself the subject of memes thanks to a viral clip of it in action. On January 22nd, 2024, the Twitch streamer Luality[2] uploaded a clip to YouTube of herself reacting to Depresso mining some ore and giving off a distinct expression, earning over 103,000 views in one week and helping to spread awareness of Depresso's reactions to jobs (shown below).
As more people became aware of Depresso, content featuring the pal began to increase on social media, including TikTok. On January 24th, 2024, the TikToker rbl_realplayer[3] uploaded a TikTok in which they show off Depresso and explain more about it in the way of selling it like a used car salesman, earning over 87,000 likes and 920,000 views in one week while calling it relatable (shown below).
