About

Didy is a slang term and purposeful misspelling of the name "Diddy," used in memes to refer to disgraced rapper P. Diddy in a tongue-in-cheek and goofy way, and possibly as a form of algospeak to prevent moderation on sites like TikTok and Instagram Reels from burying a video or meme.

Ironic memes using the misspelled "Didy" started appearing online as early as July 2025 on Instagram. In October 2026, Didy became the center of a series of memes that pair out-of-style South Park images with absurd and often nonsensical captions about Didy.

Origin

While it is unconfirmed when the misspelled "Didy" was first used online in reference to P. Diddy, memes using the misspelling started going viral on Instagram in July 2025, shortly after the trial of Sean Combs ended earlier that month.
