Overview

Diddy Beating Cassie Video or Diddy Hotel Video, also known as CNN Diddy Video, refers to a viral video of rapper Sean Love Combs allegedly beating then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016. The footage was exclusively released by CNN in May 2024, showing Diddy shoving, kicking and dragging his former girlfriend Cassie at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. The video gained multiple reactions on the day of its spread akin to shock media, especially on Twitter / X and TikTok.

Developments

On May 17th, 2024, CNN[1] exclusively released a surveillance camera footage showing rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs appear to grab, shove, drag and kick his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura during an altercation that matches allegations in a now-settled federal lawsuit filed by Ventura in November 2023.

The video was also uploaded on YouTube[2] that same day (seen below), which amassed more than 7,000 views and 300 likes in a few hours.

Diddy's 2016 video quickly spread on Twitter / X, sparking a viral debate, memes and jokes about the controversial footage. For example, on May 17th, 2024, X[3] user @Mayor_of_MiCity posted a reaction video of the person who sold "that video to CNN." The post (seen below) received more than 395,000 views and 5,100 likes in a few hours.


The footage also became a trending topic on TikTok, as user @stacey_mischelle[4] posted her reaction on May 17th after watching Diddy's video (seen below, left). The post received roughly 3,200 plays and 90 likes in a few hours.

On the same day, TikTok[5] user @sao.cara also posted a video about Diddy's leaked surveillance footage (seen below, right), which garnered over 71,000 plays and 2,800 likes in a few hours.

Diddy Apology Video

On May 19th, 2024, Diddy released an apology video to his Instagram account in which he took responsibility for the footage seen in the CNN video. However, he did not directly apologize to Ventura. The video won him little forgiveness, as many viewers expressed they found it manipulative and insincere.
