Dodging Itsdestiel's Kisses refers to a Duet trend on TikTok based on a number of videos of TikToker and E-girl @itsdestiel leaning into the camera and kissing the lens numerous times as if repeatedly kissing the viewer. The videos have been occasionally posted by Destiel since 2020 and have inspired users to Duet themselves dodging each kiss as it happens, often while explaining something to her. The trend became increasingly popular in mid-2021.

Origin

TikToker @itsdestiel, or Destiel, occasionally posts videos kissing the camera repeatedly as if kissing the viewer, usually when she is showcasing a new cosplay or look. For example, on May 24th, she posted a video to TikTok^[7] kissing the camera seven times while wearing a My Chemical Romance shirt and an emo-inspired look, gaining over 7.3 million views in four months (shown below).

TikTokers soon began Duetting these videos with clips of themselves dodging her kisses as if uninterested in them (examples shown below, left and right).

On August 10th, 2021, TikToker^[1] @itsdestiel posted a video of herself wearing a Korn hoody, leaning into the camera and kissing the lens seven times, gaining over 7.7 million views in a month (shown below). This became one of the most popular kiss Duet videos.

Days after the video was uploaded on August 10th, 2021, TikTokers began posting Duets to it dodging each of her kisses as they come while explaining how to do something as if not interested at all. One of the earliest of these videos was uploaded by TikToker^[2] @sarvente..is..fatherless on August 14th, which shows an original Sonic the Hedgehog character dodging the kisses, garnering over 240,000 views in just under a month (shown below).

On August 30th, TikToker^[6] @stoveraymond posted a video pretending to accept every kiss, although he gradually grows annoyed by them as they go, gaining over 2.2 million views in a week (shown below).

On August 31st, music reviewer Anthony Fantano posted a video to TikTok^[3] dodging the girl's kisses and asking her if she's wearing a Korn hoody, gaining over 1.2 million views in a week (shown below, left). On the same day, Justin Whang posted a video to TIkTok^[4] describing the Pony Cum Jar Project while dodging the kisses, gaining over a million views in the same span of time (shown below, right). He also posted the video to Twitter^[5] on September 1st, where it gained over 31,700 likes and over 390,000 views in six days.
