As lilgayboy45 TikToks appeared on more people's "For You" pages in mid-2022, content referencing the account was posted en masse, using the lilgayboy45 jingle and writing variations of its username on the platform. Additionally, variant accounts such as Pastacat48 and Goofydoggy13 emerged, posting stitches in the same style.

Origin

On July 17th, 2022, the TikTok^[1] page lilgayboy45 posted its first stitch, a video from the official TikTok^[2] account of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The video shows Fallon dressed as Vecna from Stranger Things doing the Coke and Mentos Challenge only to be interrupted by the word "lilgayboy45" appearing on a black background with the "lilgayboy45" jingle playing. After being uploaded, lilgayboy45's stitch received roughly 362,100 plays and 49,400 likes in four days. The video has since been deleted along with lilgayboy45's account.

Spread

On July 18th, 2022, lilgayboy45 uploaded a stitch^[3] with verified TikToker Joe Bartolozzi (@joe.bartolozzi), earning roughly 1.9 million plays and 418,900 likes in three days (since deleted). On July 18th overall, lilgayboy45 uploaded multiple stitches with videos seemingly at random. Another viral stitch^[4] posted on July 18th was one that interrupted a video showing a McDonald's cheeseburger with a "saturn ring" as an onion. The stitch received roughly 3.3 million plays and 510,500 likes in three days (since deleted). Many TikTokers used the lilgayboy45 song in July 2022 (YouTube upload shown below).

lilgayboy45 Banned

On July 20th, 2022, TikTokers such as myeloidin reported that lilgayboy45 had been removed in a video^[8] that received roughly 99,100 plays and 13,600 likes in one day (shown below). However, the ban did not last long. On July 20th, 2022, lilgayboy45 posted a video^[9] that read, "guess who's back 😈," earning roughly 946,900 plays and 49,100 likes in one day (since deleted). Lilgayboy45 was officially banned in late 2022.

Pastacat48 and Goofydoggy13 refers to two TikTokk accounts that post the same style of bait-and-switch stitches, interrupting videos with image macros of a goofy dog and an angry cat with spaghetti and meatballs. Additionally, a text-to-speech song plays for both image macros, singing the coinciding usernames.

On August 4th, 2022, the TikTok^[10] account of goofydoggy13 uploaded its first video, being a stitch with TikToker brikinbabe and earning roughly 9,600 plays and over 700 likes in one week (shown below, left). On August 6th, 2022, the TikTok^[11] account of pastacat48 uploaded its first video, being a stitch with Kylie Jenner and earning roughly 12,400 plays and 1,100 likes over the course of five days (shown below, right).
