About
Dove's "Real Beauty Bottles" Campaign refers to a body-positive advertising campaign by Dove soap in which they adjusted the shape of their body wash bottles to reflect various body types. The bottles became the target of mockery on Twitter as users made jokes similar to the This Is The Ideal Male Body series.
Origin
On May 8th, 2017, Fast Company[1] reported that Dove was introducing a new line of body wash bottles that came in various different shapes in an effort to demonstrate various body types.
Spread
Following the announcement of the campaign on Twitter, users there began to make jokes at the triteness of the campaign and joked about what other body types they'd like to see represented by Dove body wash. That day, user @vrunt[2] tweeted the bottles with various Nintendo characters superimposed onto them, gaining over 160 retweets and 500 likes in less than an hour (shown below). Dozens of other twitter jokes were made over the course of the day.
