Drew Barrymore In The Rain is a viral video of actress Drew Barrymore exuberantly running through the rain while celebrating it. Though Barrymore's joy struck some as odd at a mundane occurrence, many also found it wholesome, particularly due to the fact Barrymore had a famously troubled childhood. The video also inspired humorous Duets and skits on TikTok after it was shared in mid-July 2022.

On July 18th, 2022, actress Drew Barrymore posted a TikTok of herself running joyously through a rain storm.[1] In the clip, she says, "Whenever you can go out into the rain. Do not miss the opportunity!" The video gained over 3.3 million likes in two days (shown below).

The video inspired humorous Duets and sketches on TikTok after being shared on July 18th, 2022. For example, TikToker @homohoney0 posted a video that same day posing as Barrymore's neighbor cheering her on from inside, gaining over 64,000 likes in one day (shown below, left). TikToker @the.partybomb posted a video with Barrymore's audio showing a child clearly unhappy to be in the rain, gaining over 669,000 likes also in one day (shown below, right).

On Twitter, many users commented on how the video and other recent, similarly exuberant Barrymore videos were very wholesome, particularly because they showed Barrymore's joy after she experienced a notoriously traumatic childhood. On July 17th, Twitter user @raetheforce[2] tweeted that Barrymore "thought she was going to die young and now my good sis is just living life the way she was meant to," gaining over 5,700 retweets and 115,000 likes in three days. Similarly, Twitter user @misskubelik[3] made a point about Barrymore's childhood on July 18th, gaining over 2,700 retweets and 37,000 likes in two days (shown below, right). Barrymore's video and memes about it were subsequently covered by Daily Dot.[4]

Rachel Leah @raetheforce ... I'm not even trying to be dramatic but you can tell Drew Barrymore thought she was going to die young and now my good sis is just living life the way she was meant to. 9:55 PM Jul 17, 2022. Twitter for iPhone Angie Manfredi @misskubelik also everyone knows the answer about "why Drew Barrymore is like that" is literally "because she had a delayed and traumatic childhood marred by addiction and neglect and then through lots of therapy and self- work has become more appreciative/aware than a regular person" right 12:42 AM Jul 18, 2022 Twitter Web App
