The 2021 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard was a NASCAR race on August 15th 2021. It was the first race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Road Course instead of the traditional oval. The race was seen as a shit show by some due to cars wrecking in the same area of the track three times in a row due to a loose curb. AJ Allmendinger won.
The first incident started when William Byron hit the curb and spun out and after that several other cars spun out behind him. The controversy escalated further when Chase Briscoe, Denny Hamlin, and Allmendinger went three wide into a turn and caused Briscoe to cut the corner after being forced off the track by Hamlin. Briscoe went back on the track and got the lead. However NASCAR officials deemed he cut the corner to advance his position and gave him the black flag. Briscoe who claimed he did not know nothing about being penalized retaliated by spinning Hamlin out, allowing Allmendinger to pass to win.h2. Your title here…
