The "Maui Wowie" Trend is a TikTok lip dub trend and internet challenge in which participants hang from a street crossing pole or crosswalk sign by one arm while lip syncing to the song "Maui Wowie" by rapper Kid Cudi, specifically the lyrics, "Goin' back to Honolulu just to get that, that Maui Wowie, that Maui Wowie." The trend began in late September 2025 and was popularized in early October over the following weeks. It was seemingly started by TikToker @aaronxbrownn, later spreading among other users.

Origin

On September 5th, 2025, TikToker[1] @aaronxbrownn posted a video of himself hanging from a street crossing pole and lip syncing to the hip-hop song "Maui Wowie" by Kid Cudi, which references a weed strain, garnering over 3 million views in a month. This is the earliest known video of a person performing the trend.

The "Maui Wowie" trend garnered viral spread in late September 2025, leading into October of that year.

For example, on September 24th, 2025, TikToker[2] @idyll3333 posted a video following the trend in which she swings from a pedestrian signal pole with two arms, garnering over 5.5 million views in roughly two weeks.
