On January 12th, 2023, the Brazilian retailer company Americanas SA[1] was trending on social media when its new CEO Sérgio Rial[2] resigned from the position in two weeks, revealing a gap of 20 billion reais. This is equivalent to $3.9 billion USD of financial inconsistencies[3] in the company's balance for 2022.

On January 12, Twitter[4] user @napaulaforabozo shared a stock photo of two employers of the Brazilian company reacting to the 20 billion reais gap discovery.
