The Truth Is I Want You To Resist, also known as Conquest's "Please Resist," is a catchphrase and series of memes, including image macros, referencing a scene from the Invincible animated series season three finale in which the villain Conquest (voiced by actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan) says, "The truth is, I want you to resist," while Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) tries to negotiate with the character. The panel of the scene in the comics has been a viral topic among fans of the series since April 2024 but gained significant attention as the TV show episode was released on March 12th, 2025. The line was also transformed into a viral TikTok sound in which users added relatable text to accompany Conquest's catchphrase.
Origin
On March 12th, 2025, season three, episode eight of Invincible, the season's finale, was released. In the episode, Conquest, a high-ranking Viltrumite warrior, arrives to conquer Earth and defeat Invincible (Mark Grayson). At one point in their battle, Mark is hurt on the ground, trying to convince the villain to stop the fight, and Conquest begins a monologue about how he wants Invincible to resist because he enjoys the conflict more than achieving his mission.
A day earlier than the episode premiere, the scene was uploaded on Invincible's YouTube[1] channel as a sneak peek, garnering over 2.5 million views and 102,000 likes in two weeks.
On March 12th, TikTok[2] user @mikemadethis_ posted one of the earliest edits using Conquest's monologue, adding footage of UFC fighter Jon Jones. The post (seen below) amassed more than 1.6 million plays and 128,000 likes in two weeks.

Shortly after the Invincible season three finale aired, memes and image macros using Conquest's catchphrase started to appear on TikTok, X and Reddit.
For example, on March 24th, 2025, Redditor[3] u/dragonfist897 posted an image macro of the Stand Ready for My Arrival, Worm meme, adding the phrase, "The truth is I want you to resist." The post (seen below) amassed nearly 200 upvotes and 10 comments in a week.
On March 14th, 2025, TikTok[4] user @kalildogg posted a humorous video using the I Want You to Resist soundbite to represent him as a father talking to his kid. The post (seen below) amassed over 2.9 million plays and 335,000 likes in two weeks.
