Overview

The Asian Andy Squatter Saga refers to a series of livestreams and videos in which IRL streamer Asian Andy, along with fellow streamer Scuffed Justin Carrey (SJC) and other streamers, attempt to evict a squatter, Mary Cameron (aka Mary Bakrania), from his sister's home in California, which was being used as an Airbnb. Purportedly, in late May 2024, Cameron signed on to stay at the Airbnb for 28 days, then, after the 28 days, claimed that she stayed there for over 30 days so she could claim squatters rights and continue living in the home for free. As retaliation, Asian Andy and Carrey went to the home in late June 2024 and attempted to make Cameron's life as difficult and miserable as possible to try and force her out, later uploading highlights of the situation to YouTube in August and September of that year. On July 12th, 2024, Mary Cameron filed a wrongful eviction lawsuit against the home's owners.

Background

Asian Andy's Livestreams / Videos

Asian Andy's squatter eviction livestreams began on his Kick[20] channel in late June 2024, shortly prior to June 24th, 2024. The VODs are no longer available on Kick but have been reuploaded by many others elsewhere online.

Part One

On August 11th, 2024, Asian Andy uploaded the first in a series of videos cutting together highlights from his squatter eviction Kick streams to YouTube,[10] garnering over 639,000 views in a month. The content of the videos took place in late June 2024 over several days.

In the video, Andy is seen smoking multiple blunts while playing loud music, text-to-speech (TTS) messages from viewers and sound effects to the detriment of the squatter, Mary Cameron. She asks him to turn it down and he doesn't, also telling her that he's autistic to troll her. An interaction between one of the homeowners, the squatter and the police after she threatens to replace all the locks, is also featured in the video. Notably, the police already seem to be aware of who Mary is.

In a comment, Asian Andy explains the situation in more detail, writing:

Hey guys, to address the questions, she was an airbnb guest, and booked 28 days, and made up some fake stuff saying she was allowed longer than 30 days, so she can get "squatter's rights" and she pretended to be a tenant to the cops, and they couldn't do anything. She's been squatting since the 1990s, and she knows what she's doing. She's gone to court tons and tons of times, and has a track record of just wasting people's, police, and court time.
Part Two

On August 20th, 2024, Asian Andy uploaded the second part of the saga to YouTube,[11] garnering over 696,000 views in three weeks. In the video, Andy explains that the squatter has done this multiple times and shows several news headlines about her getting into legal trouble for squatting. He clarifies that the home is his sister's, which she bought and made into an Airbnb as her full-time job so she could spend more time with her children. Andy also claims the squatter is racist and called his family "dog eaters," showing several texts on his phone referencing this.

In the video, Andy further annoys the squatter with loud music, including AI-generated music created by viewers specifically to mock Mary. Andy manages to lock her out of the house while she films and documents him, going from window to window to film him. He repeatedly tells her he has autism and she retorts by claiming she also has autism.

Mary threatens to call the police multiple times due to Andy's actions. She then calls the police and Andy talks with an officer, claiming he's renting from the homeowner. The officer does nothing to remove Andy from the home and leaves quickly, with Andy remarking that "the cops hate her."

Andy knocks on her door and asks if she wants food then calls her a "fat bitch." The squatter accuses Andy of smoking crack, despite him only appearing to smoke marijuana and claiming he has nothing else besides that. The squatter calls Andy fat and he repeatedly yells, "I'm not fat!" Andy continues to annoy her with loud noise and TTS chats.

Later, Andy calls the cops claiming that Mary threw bleach at him. He then goes to the power box and messes with the breakers after she shuts the power off, turning it back on. She then, while Andy is outside, threatens to spray chemicals on Andy if he enters the home.

The police arrive back at the home to deal with the bleach-throwing incident. The police then discuss squatters' rights with Andy and advise him on how to potentially deal with it. After the police leave, Andy says the police smiled and nodded at him when she accused him of smoking too much weed in the house.

At the end of the video, Mary threatens to invite homeless people into the home. She also says that she knows she isn't going to "win this situation" and that she'll do everything she can to physically move out, but retain her tenancy rights so Andy still has to go through the courts. Asian Andy provides the link to an archived news story about Mary's squatting in the video description, which refers to her as a "professional squatter."[12]

Part Three

On August 30th, 2024, Asian Andy uploaded part three of the series to YouTube,[13] garnering over 1.8 million views in two weeks. The video begins with Andy further attempting to annoy Mary. The cops are called again and Mary complains about Andy banging on her door, which he does while using a broom to clean the floor. Andy tells the cops she's throwing bleach all over the floor, which he was earlier seen trying to sweep out of the home. The police suggest he stop banging on her door after she asks if it's harassment. She repeatedly calls Andy the F-slur.

Andy reads texts from Mary claiming she will defend herself "by any means necessary" if his family approaches her. She calls him "Vietnamese rat-eating scum." Andy claims they offered her $1,000 to leave at one point, but is now glad she didn't take it because she's giving him the "best content of his life." He proceeds to bang on her door with the push broom as she talks to the police on the phone.

The police arrive again and express frustration over being called to the house so frequently. One officer warns Mary that she will receive a citation for "abusing 9-1-1" if she continues to call over civil issues. The officer argues with her, asking why she's the only one who ever calls the police. The police then leave and Andy celebrates that he "wins this round." The police are called again and they tell Mary that they've been called to the home 10 times in the last week-and-a-half, expressing further frustration.

Andy shows security camera footage of her interactions with the police, in which the police are seemingly frustrated with Mary. The cop says to Mary that he believes Mary harassed Andy or the homeowners, then called them when she harassed them back. The officer says he's going to speak to the neighbors and if he's called again, he's going to file a citation for misuse of 9-1-1.

Part Four

On September 8th, 2024, Asian Andy uploaded part four of the squatter series to YouTube,[14] garnering over 578,000 views in two days. The video begins with Scuffed Justin Carrey's (SJC) arrival at the residence to help Andy try and drive Mary out. Carrey begins similarly annoying Mary with loud music and noises. He then plays a high-pitched whining sound throughout the house and continually accuses Mary of "undressing him with her eyes."

Mary calls the police again and Carrey answers the door, asking if they can 5150 her (a code that allows an adult who is experiencing a mental health crisis to be involuntarily detained for psychiatric hospitalization). Mary tells the police that she wants to gather some things and leave and also file a report for harassment over Carrey's alleged attempt to break her door down. The police do nothing to help Mary.

Carrey begins singing karaoke while banging on her door. Mary calls the police again after he pours a bottle of liquid that appears to be water on her door. She then claims he threw hot water at her when she opened the door. Carrey claims Mary hit him on the leg with a stick after she throws it from her room during an altercation.

Later, while the two are outside, Mary spits on Carrey and he accuses her of assault. He follows her around yelling at her, yelling repeatedly that he's 17 and that she tried to touch him inappropriately. He follows her around the streets and she spits on him several more times. He then starts chasing her more aggressively, barking and screaming at her, leading her into a restaurant while he insists he's a predator catcher.

The police arrive at the restaurant and Andy tells them he was assaulted by Carrey. Andy shows the police multiple clips of her spitting on Carrey. At the end of the stream, Andy, Carrey and the homeowner enter Mary's room and see a massive mess, including broken furniture, the squatter's many belongings and garbage.

A clip then plays in which Andy explains that it's been two months since Mary was arrested and that she's suing the homeowners (his sister) for wrongful eviction. He claims Mary is on a list for frivolous lawsuits and likely won't win the case. He claims she was arrested, sent to a mental hospital for 10 days, then started harassing his sister. In the description of the video, Andy includes a Google Drive[15] folder filled with additional information on Mary and the incident.

Part Five

On September 15th, 2024, Asian Andy uploaded the fifth part of the series to YouTube,[21] garnering over 535,000 views in a day. In the video, Andy, Carrey and the homeowner look through the room where Mary was staying. The room is covered in garbage and the room has been significantly damaged, presumably by Mary. The homeowner changes the locks in case she gets out of jail and returns to the residence. The three men clean the room while commenting on the state of the room and the things she left in it.

I still have to wonder how California has let their cities deteriorate like this. It takes them forever to build anything, let alone new housing (for example, San Francisco spent $1.7 million on a new public bathroom that only took $300k to actually build) and apparently their solution is… giving squatters free reign like this?
