Overview
Barbie 2024 Oscars Awards Controversy, also known as Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig's 2024 Oscars Snub, refers to discourse and memes surrounding the 2024 Barbie Academy Award nominations where America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling both received nominations for "Best Supporting" roles, while Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig did not receive nominations for "Best Actress" and "Best Director," respectively. An exploitable meme comparing Robbie's perceived snub to a Taylor Swift lyric began making the rounds in late January 2024 alongside excerpts from a Los Angeles Times article lamenting Barbie's Oscars loss. Hillary Clinton also notably issued a post on X / Twitter rife with Barbie puns to express her sympathies to Robbie and Gerwig.
